Herman Cain Proves Conservatism Is Colorblind
On September 23, actor Morgan Freeman called the Tea Party “a racist thing” while appearing as a guest on Piers Morgan Tonight. He said the “stated policy” of the Tea Party “is to do whatever it takes to see to it that Obama only serves one term,” and then equated such a policy with “We’re going to do whatever we can to get this black man outta here.”
Of course Freeman’s only the latest in a long line of liberals to place the “racist” moniker on the Tea Party movement. And like the others before him, many of whom were mental heavyweights like Janeane Garofalo, Freeman’s criticism is unfounded.
Moreover, the foolishness of his statements became evident within a day of their broadcast, as the Tea Party and other outlying conservatives carried Republican Herman Cain to a smashing victory in the Florida straw poll on September 24. What this means is that Cain, a black man, was propelled to victory over three white men (Perry, Romney, and Gingrich) and a white woman (Bachmann) by the same conservatives that had allegedly been opposed to Obama because of the color of his skin 24 hours earlier.
The truth is that the same Tea Party that cheered and voted for Representative Tim Scott (R-SC), who also happens to be black, will cheer and vote for every candidate that stands against big government, high taxes, open borders, and abortion on demand, among other things.
On a deeper level, the message from Cain’s resounding victory in Florida is that conservatism is colorblind. This translates two ways: First, it means conservatives aren’t caught up in the idea of electing a president of color simply because of that color (regardless of what it is). Rather, they put substance over style. Secondly, it means that conservatives aren’t opposed to a given candidate because of the color of his or her skin (regardless of what color it is). Rather, they judge each candidate on the basis of his or her policy positions and political ideology.
Cain won in Florida because he has come across as the most conservative guy in the mix during the last two debates. Or to put it as Rush Limbaugh did: “You want to know why Herman Cain won the straw poll in Florida? [Because] you can’t find one example of Herman Cain, at any point in this campaign, not being a conservative.”
If we want to face the cold hard facts, it’s the left in America that’s consumed with race. They are the political ideologues dominated by racial categories and quotas like affirmative action, and by the furtherance of racially homogenous groups like the Congressional Black Caucus. (Read Roger L. Simon’s fabulous suggestion on what to do with the Congressional Black Caucus here.) They were also the political group that hailed Barack Obama as the “first black president.”
I still remember the ubiquity of articles penned by liberals like Rolling Stone’s Matt Taibbi back in 2008, which took the usual leftist approach of arguing that America needed a redemption that could only be found through electing a black president. Taibbi himself rhetorically asked his readers back then: “Would it be such a terrible thing for America to show that it’s big enough to elect a black president?”
But that’s simply not how conservatives approach politics. Conservatives aren’t looking for the black candidate, they’re looking for someone who understands and upholds the Constitution of the United States. They’re not looking for the Hispanic candidate who will magically cause Hispanics to vote Republican. Rather, they are looking for the candidate who understands that conservatism is the only political hope people of all colors have, if they want to experience the American Dream.
Perhaps Herman Cain put it best when he said blacks have been “brainwashed” into supporting Democrats to this point in our history. The liberals have been very successful in that particular way.
Yet with Cain, an American who is a conservative first and a black man second, people of all races have a poignant reminder that conservatism is colorblind, and that all those who have been trapped in the downward spiral of Obama’s socialistic welfare policies now have a way out.
That way is not through more government in our lives but through less government in every aspect of our business.

“Progressive” moonbats will be lost without the Race Card to play.
Interesting how the socialist left are ones who claim to ‘not’ be racist, but they are the only ones who use racism like a police baton.
I’m not saying racism doesn’t exist any place else, people are and will be racist. That can’t be fixed except through wising up individually.
Endemic, systemic institutional racism, like the left want’s us to never forget, is pretty much a thing of the past, except in the reverse connotation.
Useful Idiots abuse the race card as a bludgeon to beat anyone gullible into a false guilt trip as well as hiding their own racism behind psychotic Projection.

In our house we’re running out of actors whose films we will tolerate.
One or two more and it’s HERE COMES BOLLYWOOD.
Right on Juan.
And I thought I was the only one. I’ve been boycotting the lot of them
for years now. I’m way down into the “B” film and actor list.
Haven’t been to a theater for quite a few years now… saw Atlas Shrugged, and will if able see the next one of those. Hollywood hasn’t produced a movie worth seeing in a very long time. They need to get the Communists OUT and then maybe I’ll watch a movie again.
I switched to Korean dramas 6 years ago and couldn’t be happier with my TV viewing. And no, I don’t speak Korean – that’s what subtitles are for
If they are showing some kind of political bias, it’s Korean and lost on me … lol! No wanting to throw things at the TV set as I think of liberal nonsense spouted by the actors and actresses in “real life”. Just great entertainment, exotic locations and eye candy.
I cancelled my cable subscription in 2004 and have been watching Korean dramas ever since. Early on, I’d buy the DVD’s but now there are websites like dramafever dot com airing streaming video of Korean dramas with limited commercial interruption similar to hulu dot com and even hulu has aired some korean dramas and movies. You would think that Hollywood would be embarrassed by the fact that many of their former customers are now flocking to bollywood or Hallyu (Korean wave) shows for entertainment.
But Hollywood does know about the exodus because they are trying to make as many remakes of Indian and korean movies as they can.
“If we want to face the cold hard facts, it’s the left in America that’s consumed with race. They are the political ideologues dominated by racial categories and quotas like affirmative action, and by the furtherance of racially homogenous groups like the Congressional Black Caucus.”
Yes. And this is why they will fail. It was the far-left in America that kept screaming “RACISM” during the 2008 campaign, using it as a crutch to get their weak candidate over the finish line. They certainly couldn’t use Obama’s record in office because he didn’t have one. All he had was his mouth and the Democrats saying that if you had the nerve to disagree with “The One,” then you simply “must” be a racist.
Well, the good news is that it will not work in 2012. America has heard this song before and Obama now HAS a record he has to run on. So any shouts of “racism” by the left will fall on deaf ears. And now Herman Cain, a breath of fresh air in what is a pretty stale group of Republican candidates, is doing well not BECAUSE he is black, but because he is a true conservative, which is what this country is yearning for. That’s why Obama, a man who had no record getting into office but now has a horrific record while in office, will lose in 2012. Color just doesn’t matter anymore, at least to conservatives.
Pretty much a load of hooey. It wasn’t “RACISM” that got Obama elected. Stop trying to blame the faults of the Republicans on the far left. McCain lost it because he bungled the economy. Pure and simple.
The tide had turned against Bush, but McCain made the mistake of declaring the economy “sound” weeks before the bottom fell out that sealed the deal. The far left don’t get you elected, ask Ralph Nader and Al Gore. The votes that were aren’t the Dem base, but swing voters who believed Obama was on top of the issue.
Listen Lefty, McCain lost because conservatives like myself couldn’t stomach voting for a RINO that would make any other Republican unelectable for 30 years into the future. McCain is a liberal, big spender Bush and his “New World Order” father were liberals. Leftist propagandists point to the most liberal members of the Republican party and say “See how conservative Republicans have ruined America?”
“yes, I believe!”
“It’s time for change”
I can’t say it better myself.
Course, it doesn’t help that 90% of the so-called unbiased media is so far in the tank for O! they need SCUBA gear.
Bwah-hah!
Gee, talk about bad timing!
The news sites this morning are filled with a story of Cain playing the race card.
Over what?
A rock.
Outside a camp that Perry used to visit.
From the article on MSNBC:
“My reaction is, that’s just very insensitive,” Cain told Fox. “[There] isn’t a more vile, negative word than the N-word, and for him to leave it there as long as he did, before I hear that they finally painted over it, is just plain insensitive to a lot of black people in this country.”
‘Longtime hunters, cowboys and ranchers said the place was known by the name as long as they could remember, the Post reported. The name on the rock was given to mountains, creeks and rock outcroppings across the country in earlier times, the Post report said.’
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/44747781/ns/politics-decision_2012
But don’t worry, everybody. According to this exceptionally ill-timed article, Herman Cain is “colorblind”.
Too bad his own words don’t back that up.
Exactomundo! Unless Cain walks this back in the strongest manner and offers an abject apology … he’s toast in my eyes. What a shallow poser he looks like now.
It’s “poseur”.
I speak english not french.
The most offensive color in this Presidential race is GREEN. Green jobs, green economy, green politics, green goods & services, green construction, green cars, green forums, green reactionism/civil disobedience, green vandalism, green fuels, & green carbon trading, where it all boils down to green corruption. I have confidence Herman Cain will address his “black” comments & focus on the REAL problem of color (GREEN) in this country. Ultimately, to those who make the Green Agenda the foundation of their beliefs, it becomes the Religion of Green.
A while back after Cain had made the comment that Americans should be able to ban the construction of mosques in their communities, or something to that effect, and then had to grovel to them I figured he was toast and so stated on a comment here on this site. Upon further consideration (since I’m just a low level conservative of no note, I can freely change my mind) I realize that Cain being a newbie merely spoke from the heart without realizing his faux pas in the current PC climate. (What right thinking American would want a sanctuary of satan next door?)
I’m sure one of his advisors got hold of him and said “Herman my man, you can’t say things like that, the media will crucify you for that, now you need to go grovel a bit and this will blow over”. His advisor, no doubt, recommended the northen Virginia mosque as the nearest convenient point of grovelling and so Cain did what was necessary to get the thing behind him.
We now know two things, one Cain is a good patriotic American who understands the dire threat of Islam in America, understands that most mosques (70%+) are hotbeds of anti-civilizational jihadism and will not be in league with them as Obama is. And we know that Cain is learning to keep some things to himself until he is in a position to do something about it. He is growing and maturing as a candidate. Cain is exciting to a number of conservatives I know, including my wife and he could possibly pull this off. There’s certainly nothing wrong with Cain and I would be happy to support him.
An interesting question, perhaps, is just how often conservatives and Republicans have to demonstrate their good faith. It’s not as though Herman Cain is really anything new: Colin Powell, Condoleeza Rice, Clarence Thomas, Allen West, “etc. etc. and so forth!” Certainly a much stronger team than Alan Jones, Barack Obama, and Al Sharpton.
when he plays the “race card” against perry after that disgusting yellow journalism from wapo, i’m done with him!
Precisely. I thought he was an American…not an African-American. He’s sounding as petty and as willing to play the race card as Al Sharpton.
Given the timeframe Cain grew up in, you and scott sound like stupid shallow fools. Cain IS an American, but he is ALSO African-American or Black. He can’t just throw away his own past and knowledge. Grow up, or get out of the conservative movement.
The far left will palinize Cain as soon as his message is heard. The coordinated long knives are being honed.
Yes, Cain is an example of the Republicans at their best — actually colorblind. He’ll make some mistakes on the campaign trail, like everyone does, but his record speaks for itself, and it is damn impressive, like Alan West’s.
Unfortunately, Marco Rubio offers an opposite example. All the fawning over his “clean, articulate” speech is mere claptrap; he’s actually quite resume-thin, propelled rapidly through Florida’s sleazy Repub. system largely because of his ethnic appeal, not accomplishments, and now the same two-faced promotion of him is being pounded out in right-of-center publications at the national level as well. The man has serious ethical problems that quite specifically fly in the face of the narrative that he some type of conservative wunderkind — he presided over an undisciplined, unprincipled, much-indicted porkbarrel legislature; the only — ONLY — non-political “work” experience he’s mustered is actually a Michele Obama-like, outrageously salaried, no-show, no-compete, previously nonexistent guvmint job at an institution for which he simultaneously secured questionable taxpayer largesse — and he hasn’t had the decency to admit he made mistakes and has learned from the experience. Why should he? The boys at Red State can’t stop fainting over his Tiger-Beat ethnic hotness, and they and others vigilantly police the web for criticism of their great Cuban hope.
This is precisely the opposite of the examples set by Cain and West, and stark illustration of the difference between colorblindness and and racial pandering . . . which ought to be opposed wherever it manifests — because opposing racial preferences and the fetishization of identity are supposed to be cornerstone conservative values.
I recognize that Rubio is considered to be an electoral asset because of his ethnicity. So be it — realpolitck is real. But it’s a raw insult to pretend you’re not playing this game while screeching when it’s played against you, or trampling on the core values of your base in the interest of election strategies. A little honesty and humility, and apology for prior mistakes from Rubio and his increasingly shrill fan club would go a long way to showing that he has matured and deserves a chance to actually earn the accolades he has already received.
Tina, your racism is showing. It would seem to you that the only good one is one that votes for his Democrat masters!
I recall reading the remarks that have been made as to why the Dems elected a black man. Saying it was a ‘guilt-assuaging’ vote – it was to help cleanse the mind from the years of racism inherent in the mind of the liberal etc etc.
I never bought that tripe for a minute. The Dems (I’m talking the smoky back-room ‘lets make a deal’ types) would elect a tree if they thought it would continue them on their path to totalitarian control of us through government – PERIOD. Granted – their useful idiots (dem voters) like my nephew I call ‘Parrot’ don’t know they’re being taken for a ride that will eventually result in their freedom and happiness being taken from them. They are simply not smart enough to understand what they are up against. They think they know – but they don’t have a clue. This vid clip is a perfect example of ‘talking out your arse’ in an attempt to make what you think you know sound reasonable.

This is what our ‘higher learning’ institutes are giving us? Mush-brained to say the least!
the racism of the left lies in the notion that all the aggrieved victim groups are unable, if left alone, to forge their own existence because of some inherent inferiority
Democrats use this as a tool against the Right. I don’t see this as classic racism. Victim groups are used – tools as it were – useful idiots to be more precise.
“… Cain, an American who is a conservative first and a black man second …”
… Cain, a conservative who is an American first and a black man second …
There, fixed that for you.
Mr. Freeman, you called the Tea Party “a racist thing”. Please explain why you are SILENT over suffering blacks. There is silence from the White Mosque (White House) and silence from most of the media over the horrors perpetrated against Blacks in Libya.
SILENCE IS CONSENT
We need another Martin Luther King!
STOP the GENOCIDE of Blacks by the U.S. backed Libya rebels!
The Obama-supported rebels left in charge are now conducting a “large scale cleaning in the areas under their control with the extermination of all blacks in the capital”, according to The Independent.
Barbaric atrocities, kidnappings and ruthless genocide of blacks in Libya by US/France/NATO backed Al-Qaeda linked rebels has been going on for months.
US/NATO who have waged war for months for the Al-Qaeda
linked rebels-who murder our troops in Iraq-are RESPONSIBLE for stopping the genocide.
US/NATO are also responsible for rescuing the
many terrified blacks kidnapped by the rebels, including the kidnapped black children who have been horrifically abused by the black-hater Muslim rebels.
Blacks must have human rights!
STOP THE GENOCIDE!
I prefer Japanese and Chinese cinema at this point. Hollyweird is just mind numbing rubbish anymore
Any policy that advocates killing people strictly because of color is just plain wrong. Obama supported the rebels in Libya,,, just plain wrong. We have enough troubles already, we don’t need to borrow more BS in the middle east.
Unfortunate title and timing on this article, as Cain once again beclowns himself by doing his impersonation of an Obama or Sharpton playing the race card.

Herman Cain: Not Ready For Prime Time 2012 – Catch The Fever! (and I do mean fever)
So far Cain keeps looking better and better as each candidate’s flaws and electability comes into focus.
Christy, panders to the Moslems
Perry, hunting lodge, immigration
Bachman, too religious to be elected, the more she talks the worse she looks
Romney, too much white bread, checkered decision maker
Paul, a nut case, if he’s the candidate I’ll leave the Republican Party, if he wins I’ll leave the country
Gingrich, unelectable, horrible past, you don’t divorce your wife when she is dying of cancer
Jackie Battley Gingrich wasn’t on her ‘death bed’ – and wasn’t ‘dying’ as you’ve framed it – in that infamous meeting in the hospital where he asked/demanded (depending on who’s story you believe) the terms of a divorce. She was recovering from cancer surgery. A common mis-conception. Certainly not a very sensitive move on his part in any case.
I’m not enamored with Newt – just the truth. What you’ve regurgitated is MSM spew.
Forgot to add this link penned by his daughter from his first marriage to Jackie Battley:

All our Republican candidates should do well to recognize aloud that reporters ask disingenuous questions.
Next time, maybe a candidate should say “Wow. I’m surprised to hear that. Before I comment, I’m going to have to contact the xxx campaign and find out what really happened.”
Roseann Barr Scrapes the Incivility Bottom
President Barack Hussein Obama hasn’t said much about civility lately, and with good reason.
When fellow liberals mouth some of the most boorish diatribes heard this side of Iran, it’s a major challenge even for Obama to pretend the civility campaign he began following the Tucson shootings–by a “progressive”–last January hasn’t run aground, if it ever left the ground in the first place.
The latest lib to demonstrate how low liberals can go is television’s washed-up 58 year old Jewish-born comedienne Roseann Barr who must be an embarrassment even to her lesbian sister and gay brother.
Roseann long ago set the civil and taste bars as low as they could go with her toilet humor and crotch-grabbing rendition of the national anthem.
Another memorable excursion into gross incivility was her unprovoked attack on Tinseltown and two of Hollywood’s own when she blogged, “Your evil spawn Angelina Jolie and her vacuous hubby Brad Pitt make about $40 million a year in violent, psychopathic movies and give away three of it to starving children, trying to look as if they give a crap about humanity as they spit out more dunces that will consume more than their fair share and wreck the earth even more.”
Talk about vacuousness and wrecking the earth! Envy can be as ugly as Roseann, sometimes.
Doing her small thing for the president’s old share-the-wealth ambitions and for his new class warfare gambit, Roseann has now hit upon what she feels would be apt punishment for all those evil bankers and other rich people intent on wrecking her earth: Behead them. . . (Read more at http://www.genelalor.com/blog1/?p=5630.)
Careful there buddy! You are talking about the woman I love and I have to defend her. First of all, its not true that she ate her first two children. Although, her first husband did mysteriously disappear. I can’t agree will all the terrible things people say about her. However, about half of the things are true. I just love her sweet melodic voice and all the kind things she has to say all the time. Its not true that she was so hated that she was exiled to some island. She went voluntarily. And, as soon as I can think of something nice to say about her, I’ll post it.
It is only natural that Mr. Cain should be popular. History has a way of working itself out.
I’m the rare American willing to admit I harbor racial prejudice. Also religious prejudice. And national prejudice. I would wager, moreover, that pretense and self-delusion aside, most people in the world are no less prejudiced.
The moral divide is not in what people believe but in how they behave. This Jewish American doesn’t have great confidence in the abilities of African Americans but I voted for Dave Dinkins for Mayor of New York. After John Lindsay and Abe Beame how much worse could Dinkins be, my wife and I reasoned. Dinkins was a soft spoken accountant with a nice smile and a pleasant manner who had stepped and fetched for the Democratic Party his entire career. At long last, he was finally being rewarded by having his name on the ballot. How could we, in good conscience, vote for anyone else? Voting against a black man would feel awfully close to a definitive racist act. And heaven forbid, we weren’t racists, were we?
Truth be told, politics in New York have been ethnic and racist since before the Tammany Irish stood on the docks waiting to greet new arrivals crawling out of steerage with an introductions to the Party of the People that ran things and would see to in the immigrant’s welfare in their new home town.
Funny thing was, I knew some of the descendants of those Tammany Irish in the Lindsay administration. My brother and I were partners in business and one of Lindsay’s deputy mayors and others close to his administration were regulars at my brother’s weekly poker game. I was a kid in my early twenties and it was my first exposure to the world of politicos and their cronies.
What I learned was that no one enjoys ethnic humor so much as a political professional. I already knew how many Poles it takes to screw in a light bulb but I learned that Italian military tanks have four gears, all in reverse. I learned that Jews have big noses because air is free and that the only difference between an Irish wedding and an Irish wake is one less drunk.
I also learned that on election eve at Lindsay campaign headquarters, white phone bankers vied with each other for who could do the best Amos ‘n Andy imitation. “Hello Mizz Johnson, Ahm Abraham Lincoln Jefferson callin to find out if you gonna do right tomorrah and vote for Mayor Lindsay, ma’am. You know black folk ain’t never had no better friend than John Lindsay…”
I can’t say Dinkins was worse than Lindsay because Lindsay started Fun City’s slide into the sewer but Dinkins he was a close contender. His police commissioner, Lee Brown, was an affirmative action bum in blue uniform. During three days of rioting in Crown Heights, New Yorkers, especially Jewish New Yorkers, got a reeducation in African American civics. A black mayor and a black police commissioner and a black mob combined into a perfect storm. For three days the NYPD stood down while Jewish families, men women and children, cowered defenseless and unprotected in their homes and blacks rioted unhindered in the streets.
Who gave the orders for the police to stand down was never made perfectly clear. Dinkins and Brown made ludicrous excuses about a shortage of police vehicles. Raymond Kelley, then Assistant Police Commissioner, refused to answer questions. In the religious Jewish community, it was inconceivable that the Democrat Mayor of the most important city in the nation could not but have been in continual contact with the Democrat President in the White House during a major riot pitting two important Democrat constituencies against each other. But no connection to Bill Clinton was ever made public. Certainly no one in the media ventured to suggest that orders for the NYPD to stand down during three days of lawless riot came from the first black president.
All of which brings this unabashedly prejudiced voter back to the subject of Herman Cain and his bid for the Republican nomination. I like the look and sound of Cain. Other than his nattering about 999, which adumbrates of social security lockboxes and similarly simplistic formulations by slick politicians to gull ignorant voters, I like everything Cain says.
Problem is, Cain is black and this Jewish voter is unashamedly skeptical regarding the intentions and character of African American politicians. Fact is, nationwide polls indicate much higher rates of anti-Semitism among African Americans than any other ethnic group in America. And Jews have experienced this anti-Semitism repeatedly, most recently in Obama’s hostility to the Jewish State.
Is there any possibility at all that someone like me could vote for Herman Cain? Absolutely. And Cain just missed his opportunity. Had Cain taken the high road and said that he was a seasoned businessman with a thick skin and couldn’t imagine the governor of the great State of Texas ever endorsing something stupid and offensive painted on a rock by some anonymous bigot in the distant past, I would drop all prejudice and enthusiastically support Cain for President.
Alas, Herman Cain settled for short term gain. He didn’t descend to the sleazy racial innuendo employed (effectively) by Obama against Hillary Clinton and John McCain to be sure. But he did the predictable. Suggested he was being dignified about it but he was hurt. Suggested that Perry was responsible for what Perry was clearly not responsible for. Impugned Perry’s character without basis. Showed himself up for a cheap opportunist. Grabbed at the chance to play the race card.
Leaving this voter sympathetic to Rick Perry. And still skeptical about yet one more African American politician with a pleasing smile and a pleasing manner and a pleasing line of patter.
Wow….you should kill yourself.
I’ll take it under advisement, bobby Anne.
Yes, quickly!
WOW..i tend to agree with you david.
our personal opinion on Cain is he thought he’d get more leverage out of the rock deal…it only showed him to be a little narrow minded black man looking for something to go at a white man about
We will not vote for a black man at this point. we seriously considered Cain until this rock thing…it sowed us something we didn’t like.
We are tired of Politically Correct everything…the deal with the half dressed Gretchen Carlson on FOX AND FRIENDS and Hank Williams, Jr, just brought it to the forefront… we have toned down our watching of FOX because of it’s down hill slide to PC crap. We want honesty….AND WOMEN ON FOX..PUT ON SOME CLOTHES..YOUR BOOBS NEED TO STAY AT HOME NOT ON OUR TV SCREEN LOOKING LIKE SOMEBODY’S HINEY..NOW THAT’S POLITICALLY ‘UN’ CORREC.
…I’ve gotten a little off course here..but back to “color blind” America..it ain’t gonna happen in the current atmosphere.
Write a letter to Roger Ailes, anne. Won’t do you any good cause he’s the old lech that insists on overly done Barbie dolls with plunging necklines and short skirts. No pants on ladies on FOX, of course. Ailes ain’t squishy on the gender issue.
All the above goes for O’reilly, too. The sight of sunshiny plastic cuties greased and powdered to perfection fawning on a (n older than) middle aged antispinner (find that one in your dictionary, Billy Boy!) like FOX’s main talk-show draw is a deep yawn at best. I hear Bill is seven feet tall and we all know about tall guys. But groan is groan and creak is creak and bit by bit, everything sags.
Fact is, Barbie Dolls shrink wrapped so tight their hair doesn’t turn along with their heads ain’t really exciting. Could be Ailes and O’reilly are desperately fighting the lean and sag of post-middle-age with dirty pictures for adolescent boys. Bottom line, they don’t turn on this fat and happy just-turned-sixty-five year old father and husband.
Read O’reilly and his coauthor’s Lincoln book, though, anne. Either he or his coauthor writes like a sonovabitch. This book moves. You know the ending but the suspense is pounding. And the characters and their backgrounds are an eye-opener.
Plus, the photographs can’t be beat and unlike in most history books, you can see them clearly. The black and white portraits of the assassination plotters taken before their hanging are clear and arresting. These are real people you may have seen in your own life. Fellow Americans of yesteryear bent on a mad and diabolical plan for the resurrection of a cause properly lost.
Anyway, David highly recommends O’Reilly and his coauthor’s, Lincoln. The whole book looks just great. I don’t know who designed it, but it would make a great gift, too. I can’t figure out why Bill is giving copies away like potato chips.
I’ll take Barbie dolls over the gender-confused, manish, overweight, snarling leftist propagandists on the other channels.
Good to know it Dave. Now stay the hell out our way.
That is, unless you’re at a “Tea Party” rally.
I don’t attend rallies, “Real American.” Afraid of meeting genuine yahoos like you.
As we all know, Abraham Lincoln and Martin Luther King were Democrats while Jefferson Davis and KKK member Senator Byrd were Republicans.
Conservatism may be colorblind, but is the GOP? Before you jump all over me, I happen to like Herman Cain; I am a GOP-leaning independent; I am a minority. I also realize I am fallible, maybe I am being simplistic or naive, or just plain wrong. I also know there’s more to this than what I’m saying.
IMHO, it seems the GOP does little to help itself (and its image) regarding minority constituencies. Some Dem strategists admit a fair number of conservatives among blacks, Latino/Hispanics, and other minorities. It is no secret that GOP politicians have been invited to appear on black TV and talk radio but have not accepted the invitations. Michael Steele, the former RNC chairman, appeared several times, was asked by hosts to extend invitations to other Republicans, and did so. But no one took up the offers. When these refusals to meet and greet with black voters, to speak with them, there’s a pattern. What does it look like to you, if you’re black and willing to listen?
The conservative-GOP approach is to attract without pandering to specific interest groups, to let voters come to them. Fine, even perhaps laudable. I say, if the GOP won’t go to black/Latino/Hispanic neighborhoods to simply espouse what they believe and to reach conservative minority voters, they automatically concede to the Democrat monopoly on minorities.
But with Herman Cain, the GOP has an opportunity it has not had before, and that is to reach conservative voters who are separated by their minority status. The GOP has a chance to break that monopoly. It is time to liberate minority conservatives from the Democrats and make the GOP look more colorblind than ever.
The trick is to not make Herman Cain into the GOP’s token minority. The trick is for GOP politicians (of all colors) to go everywhere, reach everyone, regardless of skin color, gender, age, religion, ethnicity, etc. The Democrats at the moment are vulnerable. Time to make a case for conservatism.
“It’s the left that is consumed with Race”. Here here. Ain’t that the truth. I like Cain because of his ideas and his life accomplishments. Love his personal confidence. He oozes CEO (or President of the USA!) Waiting to hear about his foreign policy, which I’m unclear on.
Side note: You said Tea Party’s are anti-abortion. Most Tea Parties do not take a stand on abortion and stick to traditional issues of liberty and free markets. I myself am a tea partier and believe a woman’s right to her body trumps all other possible and so called rights. It is critical that Tea Parties do not alienate people with that viewpoint. We all need to get this boat turned around together or we’re going over the waterfall with the socialists. Don’t bring your religion into the Tea Party. Let’s debate it later once we’ve saved our country.
One more reason why Hollywood nits should just shut up and act; without a script in front of them they are ” as sounding brass, or a clanging cymbal”. (from 1 Corinthians 13:1 KJV )
