I think you may have mistaken me for the strawman you are attacking. I’ve been talking about equality of opportunity from the start, which is what equal protection amounts to.

And I have been making the point that that is a damned lie, and your response proved it. The left does not believe in equality of opportunity at all. No matter how often you or any other leftist says so. That is a bold lie and a myth. The left, like all collectivists and over a century of history proves, is really concerned with forcing equality of results. The most important tenet of any branch of collectivism is that everyone is an equal. The most idiotic thing I have ever heard considering, so everything the left pushes is to right this imbalance. From progressive taxes that punish the more productive (under the argument that they usually stole the money anyway) to an education system that has been dumbed down to the lowest denominator (and I am not even talking about the massive indoctrination that goes on), the left tries to make everyone drones. That’s why it is obvious that all collectivism can deliver is equality of misery: it is the easiest thing to do.

The idiotic answers you gave me, claiming I am mistaking affirmative action, is proof of that. There is no straw man, unless you need to again question the attacker and his motives instead of arguing the point. I think I understand affirmative action much better than what you do. Or at least I am honest about what it really is doing. But then again, the left always pretends that the idiocy it advances is meant to do well, even when it has disastrous results. You misunderstand affirmative action – it doesn’t favor any particular groups. Demographics vary from place to place, but affirmative action always protects a minority population from exclusion. Equal protection. Same sex marriage is about consenting adults being refused the right to choose their spouse. Equal protection. If you don’t understand why these are equal protection cases, let me spell it out.

Affirmative action will protect you from being discriminated against because of your skin color, hair color, gender, or any other non-substantive criteria. Same sex marriage has to be permitted if the state sanctions marriage. Otherwise the state is clearly favoring one group over another by providing the rights and privileges of marriage to one set of partners, and not another.
