Gunwalker’s Body Count Grows, Along with the Obama Administration’s Cover-Up
House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Darrell Issa was brutally frank in a Tuesday morning conference call with new media representatives dedicated to the ongoing Gunwalker scandal.
The California Republican kicked off the call with a brief statement reporting that Marisela Morales, Mexico’s attorney general, now says that at least 200 Mexican deaths can now be traced to weapons from the gunwalking program. That number has been revised significantly upward from earlier unofficial claims of approximately 150 deaths attributed to Operation Fast and Furious guns.
The revelation of the increased body count comes less than 24 hours after the Los Angeles Times published a story that rightly describes the actions of the Obama administration as an unresolved betrayal.
This betrayal — and Morales pulled no punches in using that exact word — is being ignored by the majority of the U.S. mainstream media, which vacillate from pretending that Gunwalker was just a minor law enforcement snafu to echoing White House-orchestrated attempts to smear the Oversight Committee chairman and obstruct the investigation.
The question-and-answer period that followed Chairman Issa’s statement focused narrowly on Operation Fast and Furious, with only one reporter slipping off-topic to ask a quick question about the breaking Solyndra scandal.
Perhaps the most important clarification to come out of the call was confirmation that the Oversight Committee does indeed intend to call for a special prosecutor once they have completed their own investigation, which they optimistically would like to have wrapped up by the end of the year. Chairman Issa was quick to point out that finishing the House investigation by the end of the year hinged upon a transparent and timely release of information from the executive branch, including the federal law enforcement agencies involved and the Obama White House.
The White House has thus far refused to divulge any of the documentation the congressional investigators have asked for, and the administration’s political appointees are stymieing all attempts to get information out of the Justice Department, Homeland Security, and other involved agencies. Rep. Issa seemed quite aware that his goal of resolving the congressional investigation in 2011 was going to be obstructed by an administration in full cover-up mode.
Issa also revealed that the reason a special prosecutor has not yet been brought in to investigate the plot is that once a special prosecutor begins to investigate, the Oversight Committee has to stop its own inquiry. The committee wants to be certain that they have explored every avenue and leave no source or witness uninvestigated before turning over the case. He also pointed out that a special prosecutor will be a Department of Justice employee investigating his own employer. Thus, Issa wants to be certain that they have enough knowledge to hold the prosecutor accountable.
I had the unique opportunity to ask Chairman Issa a point-blank question that seems to trouble so many people following this scandal.
After reiterating that every law enforcement agent that has been asked about Operation Fast and Furious has said that there is no way that it could have been a viable law enforcement operation, I asked Chairman Issa if there was any evidence of another reason for the implementation of Operation Fast and Furious and the other alleged gun-walking operations.
“This was dumb, it was useless, and it was lethal,” was the soundbite most of us will take away from the call in answer to that question, but his longer answer — which I regret I do not have a transcript of — is far more telling.
Nothing in his response could be construed to mean that Rep. Issa thought Operation Fast and Furious was a legitimate law enforcement operation. And if it does not appear to have been implemented as a legitimate law enforcement operation, then we are left with the possible alternative that the goal of the operation was both illegitimate and unlawful.
Issa put it rather bluntly: “The administration wanted to show that guns found in Mexico came from the United States.”
He elaborated a bit when he noted that while he wouldn’t presume to know the precise goals of Operation Fast and Furious, it certainly did seem to tie in with the narrative the Obama administration was trying to push — that U.S. guns were turning up at Mexican crime scenes. That allowed, the suggestion hanging in the air was that a goal of the Administration was indeed a “Reichstag fire” designed to support a narrative that has been publicly woven by Attorney General Holder, Secretary of State Clinton, Secretary of Homeland Security Napolitano, and President Obama himself on multiple occasions.
One reason to assert the prominence of U.S. firearms in Mexico would be an attempt to once again bring forth an “assault weapons” ban like the failed 1994 law that sunset in 2004.
While the Oversight Committee investigation is far from over and a special prosecutor’s investigation hasn’t even begun, it is beginning to appear that the evidence and testimony being compiled so far indicate that the Obama administration was willing to break federal laws and get hundreds of people killed in Mexico and the United States in order to fabricate conditions that would help them implement their domestic gun control policies.
If so, it is entirely unethical and illegal, and it seems like only a matter of time before administration officials face felony indictments for their role in Operation Fast and Furious and perhaps the other alleged gun-walking operations that make up the Gunwalker scandal.
If that is indeed the path this scandal takes, the question may need to be asked whether U.S. justice is enough for the co-conspirators, or if Attorney General Morales should be given the opportunity to prosecute Obama administration officials in Mexico for actions that have left so many of their citizens dead and injured.

“It seems like only a matter of time before administration officials face felony indictments…”
Talk about a sweet dream.
My thoughts exactly. This administration can do no wrong and it is indeed shameful.
There will be no indictments unless a special prosecutor is appointed.
There will be no indictments. The Obama administration is protected by a perfect trifecta:
-Congress is toothless. The administration blatantly defies Congress and Congress does nothing about it but whine to a few bloggers. After all, actually doing anything would be risky for only the GOP and there does not exist a Democrat in Washington D.C. with anything approaching integrity as the Republicans who helped investigate Nixon.
-A highly politicized and lawless DoJ will only appoint a special prosecutor who will merely crucify a few underlings and absolve the directors of this crime. After all, what lawyer would want to be the target of endless professional, personal, and physical attacks that would result from a real investigation.
-The MSM will totally ignore the murders, criminal conspiracy, and subsequent cover-up in order to protect the leftist Obama Administration. After all, most of the reporters agree with both the spirit and methods of Gunrunner (and Gunrunner’s brothers and sisters).
We agree totally!.. nothing will happen. There has been so much questionable “stuff” that has happened during this adm. denydenydeny and the poor uniformed public will eventually believe you or forget about what is going on.
Also, to latinos in general…life is cheap. It means nothing to them> Look at the 35 bodies just dumped in the streets. Latino people, adults and children alike are in jeopardy. Nothing short of miracle will save these people.
AND THEY ARE COMING TO A NEIGHBORHOOD NEAR YOU/US..
July 2012 he’ll resign, according to prophecy… Although I doubt it’s divine; it’s just a template they’re following.
template?…what template? July 2012? resign or assassinate? I would rather see him resign and not become a martyr to the black community. Hillary will be the democrat candidate.
A president even one who isn’t eligible to be where he is, is not above the law. If anything he’s expected to be held to a higher standard. This will not go unpunished. The old media is no longer is calling the shots. They’ve been complicit in all the evil Obama has done in this country. This has Husseins fingerprints all over it, and I predict the underlings will talk to save themselves. We want the big fish, Obama, Holder, Clinton, and Napolitano. I would hold off on a special prosecutor if I could until Obama’s removed. The Clintons have felt for a lot of years that they’re not touchable. I’d love nothing better than to see this lying marxist hag, brought to justice.
The upside of the last-paragraph scenario is that O can’t issue an executive pardon.
I would be very happy to see these guys rotting in the worst Mexican jail, and yes, the upside is that Obama cant issue pardons in Mexico. However, I think it would set a very dangerous precedent to extradite American officials to other countries that claim American officials committed crimes in those countries in the course of their duty.
Considering the monstrous nature of the crimes these guys committed against Americans, a firing squad seems appropriate to me. An American firing squad. Mexico doesnt give the death penalty. Perhaps Marisela Morales would enjoy being present at the firing squad as a witness.
Extraditions cannot and should not happen. However, major suspects in the U.S. should be steer clear of the southern border and beware Perro, el Cazador de Galardon.
And that American firing squad should be equipped with rifles recovered from this Gunwalker nightmare, just for the occasion.
A firing squad is an honorable death – relatively – usually reserved as a military execution. Hanging is more appropriate to common criminals such as these, though I lean towards 9mm brain hemorages in a dank, dark basement.
Public hanging is the appropriate punishment for treason, which is what this is.
No, but Uncle Joe will, if he doesn’t go down with the rest of RMS Obama.
Isn’t this the same mind-set that we see from the administration on a daily basis?
Refusal to admit that the country is in a dangerous debt debacle and refusing to to change course to rectify that?
Refusing to recognize Islam as a heinous enemy and their MB arm in the U.S.A. called CAIR is allowed to foment hatred ad practice political jihad?
Those are but TWO examples of an entire administration full of radical ideologues who’s ideas are more important than people – specifically American people.
Here’s another that about to come unspooled – the “palestinian” statehood debacle fully supported by the administration in spite of actual historic facts and present day realities that the entire “palestinian” push for statehood has been, and still is a method of eradicating Israel. This administration trying to broker a “peace” deal with terrorists that are hell bent on destroying not only the tiny country of Israel but the entire West as we know it, and bringing into a position of submission to Islam – their stated goals not mine.
The same mind-set – the end justifies the means. Rabid radicals that will stop at nothing to get what they want.
Go Issa – may justice prevail.
Huskey your posting was right on. But the only problem is Issa. He starts a lot of investigations that go no where. Do you remember the “birth certificate”?
Issa started a BC inquiry? I don’t remember that.
I don’t either and I follow Issa’s activities quite closely. Perhaps the commenter will provide evidence.
Issa took over as chairman in January 2011, I think the only thing he’s looked into is F&F, Solyndra and now starting LightSquared.
Issa will investigate but remains toothless and timid. There is no ruling authority in place to bring real justice to bear against these Chicago thugs.
Issa is not timid, by any stretch of the imagination. The sad fact is, he doesn’t have much power. He’s using what he has, and using it wisely.
Grandstanding is for idiots.
Issa is not an idiot.
“While the Oversight Committee investigation is far from over and a special prosecutor’s investigation hasn’t even begun, it is beginning to appear that the evidence and testimony being compiled so far indicate that the Obama administration was willing to break federal laws and get hundreds of people killed in Mexico and the United States in order to fabricate conditions that would help them implement their domestic gun control policies.”
I wonder if, just before he is thrown out of office in 2012, Obama can pardon himself? If this is true, then all the people responsible for this should be prosecuted even if the Obama administration is thrown out of office in 2012. Not only did these people break the law, they got a lot of people killed as well. And besides Eric Holder, you cannot tell me that Napolitano and Clinton did not know about this. Homeland Defense must have known what was going on and if an operation like this, which effected another nation, was not brought to the attention of the Secretary of State, then this administration is even more inept than I thought. And I don’t think that’s possible.
As far as I know, a sitting president cannot “pardon himself”. Which brings up an interesting scenario;
November 6, 2012; Barack Obama loses his re-election bid in a landslide to (insert name of Republican nominee here).
November 7; Obama goes on national TV, and says that “in the interests of an orderly transition”, he is immediately “stepping down” as POTUS, leaving Vice-President Biden to head a “transition government”. (After his win in 2008, Obama publicly “wondered” why he couldn’t take over from Bush 43 immediately.)
November 8; New “President-in-Being” Biden pardons Obama, Holder, et al., for “unspecified high crimes and misdemeanors”, and makes a rambling, unfocused speech about it being a “time to heal”- while excoriating Republicans and the American people for forcing him to issue the pardons to protect “honorable men” from “persecution for doing the good, right, and moral thing”.
This would leave Biden holding the bag, but I’ve long suspected that Obama sees him purely as what the mob used to call a “dumb John”, anyway.
Coincidentally, it would also leave Hillary free to run for President in 2016.
clear ether
eon
Then we withdraw Secret Service protection from the disgraced former president.
People died. It would be a travesty to let the architect of this scam walk.
HRC was born in 1947. In 2016 she will be 69 – and she won’t look anywhere near as healthy or attractive as Reagan did at age 69. If she doesn’t challenge Obama in 2012, she will never be president.
My guess is that she plans on 2012, with Joe Manchin as her running mate. She has to bide her time a bit longer, though, to wait for scandals to force Obama out or for his poll numbers to go so far south that the Dems will clamor for her entry.
Frankly, I’d rather the GOP defeat Obama in 2012 than lose to Hillary.
Something will happen to protect BO. Holder might have to end up dead, and/or Issa, other critical witnesses, or whatever it takes. There is only ONE thing that matters – BO. Not the country, not Mexico, not human lives, not the facts (which apparently didn’t support his gun control wet dream so he had to invent facts via F&F).
Nanette, I was thinking exactly the same thing!
So…if I understand this correctly, DOJ (Eric Holder) would appoint the Special Prosecutor? It that is the case I have absolutely no confidence that any truth or justice would come from any investigation. I am sure the SP would be of the same ilk as all of the other radical, left-leaning appointees than have been hired in the DOJ. No wonder Issa does not want to let go of this investigation. Our government has been hijacked by gangsters, racists, radicals, communists and Marxist who are out to exact revenge, retaliation and retribution on a country they hate.
Sorry if this offends but this is how I see it. Americans are “my people” and they are being thrown under the bus.
I see it the same way, but then I never have high expectations of politics and politicians. It is sad really for such a large country with so many honorable citizens. It is not the latter that vote in the crooks.
Yep, that’s how it works.
That’s how Ken Starr got picked – from a short list of old Clinton cronies.
It worked beautifully.
It’s interesting how everyone is focusing on Solynda and not on this issue which I consider far, far more serious. In Solynda, money was lost; in Fast and Furious lives (as well as money) was lost, and more seriously, Fast and Furious appears to be with malice of forethought while Solynda is just a tawdry case of fraud. I note that Andy McCarthy’s piece in NRO today regarding the difficulty of prosecuting criminal charges in the Solynda case applies equally well to Fast and Furious. See http://www.nationalreview.com/articles/277843/solyndra-non-investigation-andrew-c-mccarthy
Bob Ownes – Keep up the steady drumbeat on this issue; maybe (big maybe) it will trickle down to the LSM.
This is perfect for Obama. He will not have to run for re-election. He will step down or be impeached, then the Dems. will rally around Hilary as the savior of the US. She is not Obama and all the ground the Rep. have made will be for nothing. The Dems and ind. will vote for Hilary, and she will continue on this reign of US destruction.
Only 3% of the US population fought in the American Revolution. Think about that.
If this gets to the point of Obama being impeached or stepping down, Hillary will be so tainted that she won’t be a viable replacement. People talk of Evan Bayh and Andrew Cuomo.
Do we have an extradition treaty with Mexico?
The extradition request alone would be awesome politics…
Reading elsewhere, it was suggested that Ban-Ki-Moon taps him to be head(king) of the UN-NWO Social Justice World and “the one” gets to step down gracefully and Hillary, “the one light” slides in……then everyone is happy.
Entirely plausible. “The One”, without facing any consequences for the damage done to America, gets to slither off, with teleprompter in tow and is coronated king of the world as his reward.
“King of the world” indeed. Back in 2008 I did a head-to-head comparison between the real-life Obama and the fictional Nicolae Carpathia; the parallels were astounding, to say the least. The only real discrepancy is Obama’s lack of a healed mortal wound. Also, instead of a single false prophet Obama has several (Holder, Van Jones, Jeremiah Wright, etc.)
I confess to a certain confusion. if I understand correctly, the operation was to allow firearms to be put into criminal channels, so eventually the guns could be traced to major (criminal) individuals and indictments prepared. However, once the firearms crossed the border, there was no mechanism in place to track them and obtain information reqquisite for an indictment. The plan (such as it was) entailed waiting for the firearms to be abandoned at crime scenes in Mexico, and then tracked when Mexican authorities seized the weapons and sent the data back to U S agents.
Can this possibly be accurate? It seems so ridiculous, that I must have the details incorrectly.
You got it right, the plan doesn’t even work on paper let alone real life.
The plan was a farce and was never intended to work the way they claimed it would.
The real purpose behind this plan was to point a finger of guilt at the American gun industry and drum up support to outlaw them.
The plan would have worked nicely if all of the ATF agents who were involved kept their mouths shut and didn’t blow the whistle.
Youre right,
It never could have worked, and NONE of those guns would have ever been sought after by any criminal big-wigs anyway, for one simple reason…
Criminals dont pay retail.
No self respecting drug lord is going to send someone to buy a lowley semi auto at retail, then “onesie-twosie” slip them across a boarder…they have container ships of FULL AUTO stuff arrive from (name any point in criminal the world) or they get them in bulk from the corrupt Mexican army.
Once you pay retail for one over the counter, you can only sell it for a loss from there.
No way thats a viable enterprise.
These were “pushed” into Mexico, by guys “paid” by our government to do it.
A mere coincidence the ATF’s “purchasers” just happened to be the FBI’s “informants”, I’m sure.
Federal officials were apparently breaking Federal law and were even expecting people to get killed…? Really. Issa gave a phone conference? How about answering the question you want to answer when you give your Sunday morning briefings and FORCE the MSM to take notice. Typical politicians. Give them an invite to a camera and get all nice and squishy and can’t stand up for the dying. If I WERE A SENATOR I’d be chained to the door of the DOJ at this very moment until they cough up the documents. But then, ONLY 200 or so Mexicans have died so neither party can really get all that excited about felons in government. El Paso says federal agents are bought off by drug dealers? You don’t say.
“It seems like only a matter of time before administration officials face felony indictments for their role in Operation Fast and Furious.”
Really? And Eric (My People) Holder and his corrupt justice department are going to issue those indictments, WHEN?
I still believe that in the end, only the whistleblowers will be indicted. Corruption runs to deep in government for justice to prevail.
How can they be indicted? They were the ones who talked, they are witnesses to these crimes.
A prosecutor can indict a hamburger. In DC, they could convict pretty much anybody of being an enemy of the state if they just said Comrade Obama wanted it. Anyway, these guys certainly wouldn’t be the first time that only the messenger got shot.
“…deaths attributed to Operation Fast and Furious guns.”
Did the guns do that?!!
I guess the answer depends on which definition of “do” gets applied.
Brady and the gang might cite that phrasing in support of their positions.
Guns come with triggers and empty chambers. Cartel criminals USED the F&F guns as their weapons of choice in 200 cases thus far discovered. Knives, ropes, tires, 2 x 4′s, steel drums, commercial kitchens are just some of the other known means of murders committed by cartel criminals.
Don’t loose the war by taking license with the language….people killed people.
In a perfect world; we’d disband the BATF as its a danger to the people, we’d flush the DOJ as they’re now costing twice as much but providing (far less than) half the ‘justice’, and this administration and all the other democrat congress-critters involved would be tried and jailed.
In a perfect world where all voters were smart and sufficiently informed, no incumbents, except perhaps a handful, would be re-elected. None of the latter exist in my area so I NEVER vote for incumbents. Unfortunately I too have to live with the nincompoops other voters keep electing.
One good thing can come of this right now. Republican candidates can use this to get the Latino vote, from what I understand this scandal is getting big play in Mexico and at the same time it will get more national attention.
Never Happen..
Mexico is a savage place. Life is cheap.
They never care about their own people…if they did, they’d have done something about it 75-100 years ago.
They just want free stuff.
Some kill for it, some cross borders and get fake ID’s for it.
Whoever promises them free stuff gets their vote, and we all know who that is.
Not true.
A majority of the Latino population in the US have family and friends who are south of the border, they should be livid that bodies are popping up with the aid of the US government.
http://www.csmonitor.com/World/Americas/2011/0309/Mexico-lawmakers-livid-over-US-Operation-Fast-and-Furious
You don’t think that the Mexican people aren’t mad as well?
http://articles.latimes.com/2011/sep/19/world/la-fg-mexico-fast-furious-20110920
This is a campaign issue and the democrats have blood on their hands.
Not true.
There are plenty of Latinos north and south of the border who are livid that the democrats did this.
Just do a quick google search.
The people responsible should be prosecuted as accomplices to murder. I hope indictments are made, SOON.
We are currently living through a depression, a civil war of idealogies, and now a lawless mafia style government. It is the logical extension of what we have become as a people. The political class created from manipulation of moronic voters must be extinguished.
If this was a GOP Administration there would be more attention. The media is covering for the BATF like when they launched an armed assault at WACO when they coud have arrested Koresh out jogging. The Mexican government has even declared their intent to see the responsible punished and reports of that are hard to find in the press.
Sure thing,
Remember that Time Magazine cover of the burning building and the “oh my god, they’re killing themselves” quote from an “anonymous” FBI agent as the headline?
They will cover-up this as much as possible too.
Its a non-story to most of them.
As long as the Department of Justice remains blind, deaf, and mute there will be no indictments of anyone associated with this goat roping. The only exception will be if they can hang something on the whistleblowers.
Nobody has yet explained why any self-respecting Mexican bad guy would want a US gun store legal semi-automatic weapon costing several hundred dollars when he can buy military full automatic AKs for a third or less of the price of a US legal one. We’re dealing with people who buy cocaine by the ton; they can buy Russian, Chinese, Eastern European, or Middle Eastern AKs and other military weapons by the case. The only guns I’ve seen that bad guys would want and can’t readily get on the international weapons black market are the Barrat 50 cal. and one type of pistol, the name of which escapes me, that has the reputation for being able to penetrate common pollce body armor.
I believe the whole thing was a plot to seed these readily identifiable US weapons in Mexico as a part of a propaganda effort to either ban such weapons altogether in the US or to impose draconian rules on their sales and possession. Since I don’t believe there would be any sort of real market for most such guns in Mexico, I think the BATF/FBI/USDOJ were using their assets, their money, and weapons they were “walking” to plant these weapons in Mexico for the Regime’s political advantage. What they did comes very close to treason by any sane definition of the terms, but since our Founders had some first hand experience with the much more expansive British definition of treason, it doesn’t make treason under our laws. It is of little import anyway, because the only people who are ever going to know of it are political junkies. Any call for a special prosecutor will be derided as politically motivated, probably racist, witch-hunting by Tea Party driven miscreants who don’t represent the will of the Amerian people. Hell, I can write the Democrat talking points off the top of my head. The only way there’ll ever be justice is if we get the Executive Branch back in ’12 and have a new, legitimate AG go after the Obamanists who did this. Of course, most of them will have a pardon to whip out.
Money is no object, the cartels get their weapons from the most convenient source at the time.
I agree that this was an attempt to do away with gun sales/2nd amendment in the US.
It doesn’t turn on the money; it turns on the fact that it is difficult and time consuming to buy a fully automatic weapon in the US, some you can’t buy at all. The point is that why on Earth would somebody who can buy cocaine by the ton buy US gun store legal guns when the same phone call that gets the coke delivered will get cases of fully automatic weapons too, and the fully automatic weapons have the added advantage of being much cheaper. AKs can be had for $50 – $100 these days in Africa. US legal semi-auto AKs are a minimum of $500, much more for really good ones. I don’t know what a legal fully automatic AK costs, $1500+ minimum I’d say plus a lenghthy and fairly expensive licensing process. The AK-based Saiga 12 guage shotgun, one of the weapons they were showing has having been a F&F weapon, is $6 – 700 in US legal semi-automatic form and three to four times that as a legal automatic.
Good point.
Why would they go this route if they have easier ones?
If this didn’t blow up in the democrats face I could see how they would use it to shut down the gun industry in America. Sure, you have your 2nd Amendment but try using when no one is selling guns or ammo.
I have a US legal Saiga 12 guage shotgun – just in case a group of zombies ever attacks Alaska. They’re practically the archtypal scary, ugly, black gun, the sort that just the sight will scare some coastal metrosexual away. BO – Before Obama – the Saiga could be had for around $400 and there weren’t a lot of them because the Russian quality control is notoriously bad and you had to spend time and money on lots of them to get them running right. We call them “Vodka Guns.” The Regime announced that it was going to “study” shotguns and especially if certain shotguns, the Saiga among them, had the legally required “sporting purpose.” The price shot up to over $700, even $800 in some places. Since Comrade Obama, the price of ammunition has skyrocketed, especially rifle and pistol ammunition using brass. One reason for the increase – other than hoarding – is that the Regime instead of keeping all the used military brass in the US threw it out on the World market and the Chinese buy it all up. And there is so much stock-piling, hoarding if you will, that when gun owners say they’re investing in precious metals, they mean brass and lead.
There aren’t that many full auto AK’s here. Class III laws are tough. They start high teens.. $17,000 is the cheapest I’ve seen in years.
From Foxnews online today:
http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2011/09/21/audio-tapes-reveal-more-details-in-fast-and-furious-gunrunner-scandal/
Criminal indictments? I bet they are all pardoned (under the absolute pardon power of the president, even before an indictment). So that leaves the Mexicans to do the criminal indictments and go for extraditions. Fat chance that happens. The people killed were not the cream of Mexican society, and I’ m sure there will be some interstate payoffs between the Mexican Feds and the Obama administration dream team, as in keep them borders open baby.
I’m not a globalist but with all the calls for international tribunals against Bush for “war crimes” by the left shouldn’t we throw this thing at the UN or Hague?
Obama and his cronies don’t want to comply with the investigation and they did try to undermine the Mexican government which resulted in people dying.
I’m sure some international law was broken, I know a whole bunch of US laws were.
The massive scale of the operation and the coverup, the incredible risks taken, all suggest that something much bigger than merely providing support to a discredited and unpopular gun control agenda was the overarching purpose. There must be far more to it than that.
As I have said for some time, and I know Bob himself said recently, something this big had to involve multiple agendas in order to get this many players involved in what was nothing less than a monstrous criminal conspiracy to violate Mexican and US law. Not all the players need know of all the agendas and all the players. But some do know.
Identifying those agendas, and whose interests they served, will lead to the persons responsible.
Any operation that involved multiple agencies in multiple cabinet level departments requires authority if not direct supervision from above, and only one authority is above the cabinet level agencies.
The blood trail leads straight to the Oval Office.
How many people knew the overarching purpose and the multiple agendas? Will all of them fall on their swords to protect Obama?
Re: Solyndra
I know this is somewhat unrelated but I’d like to know whose side the FBI is on in their investigation, the administration’s or the American Peoples’. Also who ordered the FBI to investigate? It happened rather quickly.
Good point Gave…
Could have gone in quick to satisfy/blunt the outrage, while simultaneously sanitizing the crime scene.
Dont expect anything to stick…Solyndra, Gun Walker, Light Squared…
its all right wing blogosphere tin foil hats to the MSM..
The fact their “one” has been shown to be a spectacular failure is punishment enough…
The indignity of him longer rating instant genuflection is a sacrifice they have ALLOWED to become the norm….
To expect actual JUSTICE to prevail as well?
Come on!
There is a limit to how much the media can “give” to the nation, donchaknow.
Why do I still have a comment in moderation? This isn’t the Huffington post.
If the US military did this in Iraq and Iraqi civilians were killed would you people be up in arms?
If the US military supplied the enemy with weapons that were used against American people, yes!
The “Reichstag fire” analogy is alarmingly apt. I have long thought that Hitler’s manipulation of the fire was the template for Stalin’s exploitation of the Kirov murder in 1934 (whether or not Stalin ordered the murder, he used it as a charge in successive show trials over the following years). Interesting to see where the present administration gets its ideas from.
I wouldn’t be too sure this story doesn’t have MSM legs. Wolf Blitzer on CNN just ran a long and very objective piece on Gunrunner. There’s a political dynamic here that is interesting. If the Lefties see 50 years of hard work going down the drain because Barry is an arrogant dummy they’ll drop him like a bad habit.
At the beginning of Bob Owens article is a reference in the sentence, “The revelation of the increased body count comes less than 24 hours after the Los Angeles Times published a story that rightly describes the actions of the Obama administration as an unresolved betrayal.”
The reference leads to: http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/world/la-fg-mexico-fast-furious-20110920,0,6511144,full.story
Towards the end of that article the LA Times states:
“Many Mexican politicians responded angrily when the existence of the program became known in March, with several saying it amounted to a breach of Mexican sovereignty. But much of that anger has subsided, possibly in the interest of not aggravating the bilateral relationship. For Mexico, the U.S. gun problem goes far beyond the Fast and Furious program. Of weapons used in crimes and traced, more than 75% come from the U.S.
“Yes, it was bad and wrong, and you have to ask yourself, what were they thinking?” a senior official in Calderon’s administration said, referring to Fast and Furious. “But, given the river of weapons that flows into Mexico from the U.S., do a few more make a big difference?””
Would some of the writers responding to Bob’s article care to make a comment on this LA Times perception of the problem. Correcting this perception is probably more important than guessing what the Administration and Congress may or may not do in the future.
The LA Times is basically still buying the Regime’s line that the source of weapons in Mexico is the US. I simply don’t believe it. The same people who sell cocaine by the ton sell weapons by the case – and they’re better and cheaper weapons.
There are few classes of people dumber than reporters; they’re right in there with teachers. The have a high school education and their college education is about how to talk about stuff they don’t know anything about. And unlike regular working HS graduates, they think they’re special, so they never bother to learn anything after they get their “degree.”
It is good that the LA Times is defying leftist orthodoxy and covering the story at all, but they’re really just pandering to their Mexifornian readership. Norte Americanos did a bad thing to Mexicans; that’s all they want to say, and minor details don’t matter.
Felony indictments for Obama administration officials? Seriously? What are you smoking, Bob Owens?
I will expect to hear about felony indictments for major administration officials about 6 weeks after I have to start cleaning pig feces off of the roof, hood and rear deck of my car. Or about 2 weeks after the Pope is discovered kneeling on a prayer mat facing east. Which ever comes last.
This is starting to look very ugly. Maybe Speaker of the House, needs to have a talk with the Joint Chiefs of Staff to make sure that nobody forgets that we are governed by the U.S. Constitution and the rule of law , and not any possible criminal elements in the DOJ.
How about when the 12-foot-tall bronze statue of Bear Bryant is unveiled — at Auburn?
That reply was meant for Bad Cyborg (#34). Danged mouse has a life of its own sometimes!
This is Obama’s Watergate – except in Watergate people didn’t die, and we are talking about 100′s of people not a simple murder.
Holder knew
Napolitano knew
Obama knew
Hillary knew
This is becoming obvious, a blatant attempt at showing guns causing the trouble in Mexico were coming from the US giving a reason to outlaw and confiscate all semi-automatic type rifles (to start with). Holder and Obama have both been proven in the past to show great disdain for our Second Amendment rights. Holder has been on record saying that all automatic and semi automatic weapons should be outlawed and illegal to own or posses. That would make almost all rifles, shotguns and handguns illegal in the US
When it is all said and done, you all should know the real reasons that any bullsh&& that goes on this world today is for MONEY. End of story, the truth comes out. MONEY,MONEY,MONEY AND MORE MONEY. Come on people, come to your senses. No one gives a damn about anything in politics about anything else but,MONEY. It’s just a shame that all us poor slobs out here can’t be involved, because you, me, and everyone else in this corrupted world would do the same thing, for MONEY. ( Now is there any other answer to your questions that make sense?)
