‘Gunwalker’ Goes Pravda: White House Unleashes MSM
To date, Rep. Darrell Issa and Sen. Charles Grassley have led the investigation of Operation Fast and Furious: a multi-agency scheme that allowed known straw purchasers to buy an estimated 2,000 firearms and to smuggle them into Mexico, into the hands of the narco-terrorists of Mexican cartels. An estimated 150 Mexican police officers and soldiers have been killed by the weapons.
Issa and Grassley have been operating in a near vacuum, with very little coverage from the media. This is stunning considering the scope of the plot, which seems to have originated at the highest levels of government. But on Tuesday, two of the largest and most influential news organizations finally saw fit to address the matter head-on.
By targeting the messenger.
The Washington Post has printed a character assassination piece targeting Issa which PJM sources confirm had been shopped around to other news outlets and blogs by the Obama administration since the House Oversight Committee hearings last week.
The administration-authored Post story attempts to claim that Rep. Issa, the chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform which issued the damning report last week about Gunwalker, had been briefed about the program a year ago and had no objections to it at that time.
The evidence for this claim? There isn’t any.
According to a well-placed source, the hit piece the Post ran had been shopped by the administration to several other news organizations. All passed on it, since there was no credible attribution for the story.
Only the Washington Post would run it. Additionally, an article written last week in the Wall Street Journal had already challenged this narrative:
An April 2010 email from an ATF agent in Mexico City to a bureau official, reviewed by The Wall Street Journal, discussed plans to provide a classified briefing to Mr. Issa’s own committee about several cases, including Fast and Furious. A spokesman for Mr. Issa said that the congressman wasn’t briefed on specifics of the operation and that staffers who attended the briefing don’t recall the operation being mentioned.
High-level “Cliff’s Notes” briefings of overall programs are often the content of routine briefings, but project-level details — such as the walking of guns to Mexican cartels — would not have been in a typical briefing, if specific projects were mentioned at all.
Contacted for their reaction to this Post hit piece op-ed by PJM, Issa’s staff released the following statement:
For six months, Justice Department officials including Attorney General Holder have denied knowledge that gunwalking in Operation Fast and Furious took place. With the truth now beginning to come out, opponents of this investigation are incredulously trying to assert that Obama administration political appointees at the Justice Department were ignorant — yet Congress was in the know on the details of Operation Fast and Furious.
The April 2010 ATF briefing on weapons smuggling by criminal cartels included a staff member of the Democratic staff of the Oversight Committee who has been working for Ranking Member Cummings on the Fast and Furious investigation. This Democratic staff member has never indicated to Republican staff that he had any prior awareness of the gunwalking that took place in Operation Fast and Furious and the recollections of Republican staff who attended this briefing have already been reported in the Wall Street Journal. This irresponsible and false accusation is indicative of a Justice Department bereft of leadership and rattled by the revelations of its own misconduct.
If the media was this in the tank for the Nixon Admin, we never would have heard of Watergate. History would have been way different.
This is why I don’t subscribe to newspapers or watch MSM newscasts. Strictly FNC (with some skepticism) and my favorite blogs.
We know who the MSM is trying to protect. What they don’t know is how ruthlessly they will be sacrificed to protect The-One-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named.

This “well-placed source” needs to come out asap, with evidence that
1) the administration authored the piece,
2) the administration shopped its own propaganda, and that 3) several news organizations turned it down for lack of credibility.
They won’t come out or admit it. Why should they ? The Pravda analogy is really spot on these days.

“Well placed sources” are generally confidential, reliable people in important positions, often in government, who provide truthful information that is being kept from us. Usually, they do so because they do not like seeing “we the people” deceived in important matters. Disclosing who they are eliminates that link to the truth. Their identity needs to be protected at all cost. Attempts to blow their cover will identify the enemy of truth.

I just need to point out that places with tight gun control laws tend to be much more violent than those without such laws. (Think Detroit and Washington, DC.) Also, I should point to you several studies by John Lott, Jr. which contradict your statement. The first is The Bias Against Guns, and other is, More Guns, Less Crime. Finally, I need only point out to you that violent crime in England has quintupled since 1996 when guns were effectively outlawed.

Looks like we are going to have some blue-on-blue here. Look sport, Treason is a crime against the nation not individuals. So when Gunwalker guns kill Americans can be considered under state and/or federal criminal statutes. Depending on the intent of the program it could very well be considered support for criminal elements making war on the Mexican government, which is certainly a violation of international law and perhaps the Law of Armed Conflict. If the latter then Obama and company would be guilty of war crimes.

Insofar as Obama and Holder gave aid and comfort to people who are actively shooting at US law enforcement and military personnel, they are adhering to the enemies of the United States.
However…neither Holder nor Obama will confess to treason, and there will likely not be two witnesses to the same overt act testifying in open court against Holder or Obama, so the argument is entirely academic.
I would submit that arming an enemy is treason. I would further argue that facilitating the murder of fellow countryman, innocent citizens of a foreign ally, and law enforcement officers in both countries Is treason. Furthermore, doing the aforementioned as a ploy to usurp American’s Constitutional right to bear arms is treason. This was an act of war, a prelude to a coup, and pussyfooting around patent truth with legal arguments is…disgusting evidence that the MSM has made Americans so broad-minded, they’re flat-headed. A good lawyer could easily win this case–in a country with a non-corrupt DOJ.
That is a casus belli, which allows for the foreign Nation involved to declare war summarily against the US.

An interesting poll just came out, Yahoo.com front page, that the American voters think that the press is biased liberal. There were interesting questions posted to them. It seems that the American voter is not the fool that the MSM makes hem/her out to be. The upcoming election is going to be an interesting one. Its going to be the time for the bullsh*t to hit the fan. I feel this time you won’t be able to throw the bullsh*t at the voter and tell him/her that its just good reporting. Enough soft balls thrown at the President, let’s have a few curves.

Not where I live, i.e. the SF Bay Area, CA. While the newspaper business seems to struggle mightily, even here, it doesn’t make them change their biases.
Iran-contra is a good comparison. A better comparison is the Reichstag fire. IMO, comparison that is surprisingly unevaluated is the El Rukn – Libya arms deals of the 1980s, in which the government of Libya armed a US street gang, in Obama’s neighborhood, no less.
Note that the El Runkn – Libya deal was not scary only because of the weapons transfer. The other part of the deal was that the receivers of the weapons allegedly agreed to use the weapons for terrorism (in particular, using SAMs to shoot down planes at O’Hare). What did the Mexican narcotrafficantes agree to do in exchange for all those weapons provided by the Obama administration?
Paul Helmke, the rabidly anti-gun zealot who chaired the Brady Campaign suddenly resigned yesterday. He was previously meeting with Obama to try and enact further gun restrictions “under the radar”. Could the truth about this scandal, coupled with his sudden departure be somehow related?
Time for Congress to appoint a special prosecutor, with wide powers to subpoena and arrest.
With the way the obama administration disregards the American Constitution and all our rule of law. It makes you really wonder who obama really is, plus the way news media protects and coddle`s obama makes your scratch your head. We know very little about this man obama`s history. What we do know about obama is all he said she said, nothing solid. All I know for sure is what I see, and that is obama is destroying the American lifestyle!
