Even before watching your video, I agree with the thesis that the Guantanamo guys are being used as weapons.
Weapons in Holder’s, the ACLU’S (and other, less visible, entities) ongoing war to expose and, perhaps even, prosecute, individuals in the previous administration.
Weapons in Holder’s BS claim of showing “the world” the American justice system at work. (hey, Eric Holder already did that as deputy AG under Bill Clinton, facilitating pardons of Mark Rich and FALN, Puerto Rican Marxist terrorists. Holder’s boss Bill did it as well, showing the world that a sitting United States President can perjure himself under Oath and still not be removed from office.)
Weapons in the BS campaign of enhancing the self-importance and visibility of the United States Attorney General.
Weapons to distract attention from Obama’s fundamental incompetence.
Ok, off to watch the video.
Gitmo should be exactly where the remaining detainees continue to be housed.
It became a liberal cause célèbre back in the early days with pictures of the detainees squatting in orange jumpsuits inside chain link fenced enclosures. And stories of their “treatment” around the time of Abu Ghraib.
Oh, the humanity !
Despite changes at Gitmo and the fact that, apparently, detainees have more rights than soldiers, closing the facility has stuck in Obama’s craw as one concrete thing he might accomplish, meet his own arbitrary January deadline, which date has the additional cachet of being one year since he took office.
Obama (bollixed that his “fixes” for the economy appear to be somewhere between lame and disastrous) has got the whole crowd fixated and working hard on “the Gitmo problem”. And Dick Durbin can barely contain his excitement at the prospect of housing those guys in a rather moribund prison facility in his state, feeding some more off of them, not, per se, as weapons but for job creation for his home state !
Quite incredibly ignorant stuff, all of it.
