Bill, I have always admired your work. I have to disagree totally on this one and here is why!
Washington has a spending problem. Tax cuts don’t increase deficits anymore than tax increases decrease deficits. Deficits are decreased by spending less. I wonder how many of the folks who quote this nonsense have ever budgeted their own money. If they find they are spending more than they take in, do they demand raise from their boss?
No President of the United States can create either a budget deficit or a budget surplus. All spending bills originate in the House of Representatives and all taxes are voted into law by Congress. This means Bill Clinton did not balance the budget, the Republicans did.
Democrats controlled both houses of Congress before Barack Obama became president. The deficit he inherited was created by the Congressional Democrats, including Senator Barack Obama, who did absolutely nothing to oppose the runaway spending. He was one of the biggest of the big spenders.
Well, well, well…..since the Democrats have controlled the purse strings of congress since 2006, it would appear that Obama is merely continuing the slow destruction of our economy that was started by the democrat’s. Why is it they can’t take the blame for things when they go badly as fast as they take the credit “if” things go better? Oh, and by the way, unemployment was under 7% near the end of the Bush administration, the deficit was actually only about $400 billion, and the government wasn’t in the car business!

VIVA LA TEA PARTY, and we are not done yet!
I agree! I’ve voted for the Libertarian candidate my entire adult life, but always with the mental reservation that someday there might be a candidate so dangerous that I’d have no choice but to vote for his major party opponent. This is what happened in 2008, when the Alinskyite thug from Chicago appeared on the scene. Now, four years later, I am not sorry that I voted for McCain and Palin, and I don’t expect to regret voting for Romney and Ryan this time, despite my objections to some of the policies they represent. Faced with the appalling prospect of four more Obama years, those differences are plainly of secondary importance.
For all that Romney is not (that’s a long list) at least he understands overhead which is all government is, pure overhead.
You’re absolutely right. To decide not to decide who is to manage the nation for these next four years – for whatever reasons – is NOT a zero count. It’s a box ticked FOR Obama. Simple arithmetic.
Bill, whatever you do, please don’t take that medication, this country has been on medication for over 40 years. We need more crazy conservatives off our meds. To quote McMurphy from ” One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest”, “which one of you nuts got any guts?” Question: “Atlas Shrugged II”. The book, the film, the timing. Is fiction becoming fact or is fact resembling fiction? Is Mitt Romney our John Galt or is he our Parick McMurphy ?
Bill —
Rubbish! By this line of reasoning there would be no United States of America (and no Republic of Texas). John Adams suggested the population of the colonies at the time of the revolution was 1/3 Tory, 1/3 indifferent. and 1/3 Patriot. So the Patriots were fighting against the whole might of the British Empire, 1/3 of the population who were dedicated Tories. By extension, another 1/3 of the population that did not support the “glorious cause” (that’s 2/3 the total population).
At the time, the Patriots were told constantly that they had NO CHANCE. They COULD NOT WIN. They were being IMPRACTICAL. They should NOT have SUCCEEDed!
Anyone who accepts the belief (without question) that a candidate must be a Republican or Democrat is nothing but a modern day Tory. In the end, choosing the lesser of two evils still leaves you with evil.
