Don’t Cry for Olbermann
So that’s it. Keith Olbermann is out at MSNBC.
Well, don’t cry for Olbermann. His tacky little adolescent temper tantrums, euphemistically called Countdown, may be reincarnated somewhere else. It’s hard to keep a trash-mouthed misogynist down, you know. Wherever a regressive-progressive audience can be found, there is certain to be a market — however diminished — for Olbermann’s brand of shock-jock, trash-talking “political commentary.”
The word on the street is that the Comcast moguls have a gag on Olbie, which requires his silence on the details of his leaving. His half-dozen fans from HuffPo have somehow managed to get more than 200,000 signatures on a petition to have him reinstated. It’s doubtful, however, that this will work. Olbermann was the undisputed MSNBC prime-time ratings anchor, but his declining numbers spell doom even for a guy with a dedicated band of cult-like followers. He’s done there.
And what was the cause of this celebrated breakup? Apparently, it was money, honey. As much as the liberal literati love to hate capitalism, their stars revel in the bread-buttering cashola that buys the mansions, stocks the bars, and pays for the promiscuity. Hypocrite is too mild a word, when one considers the inglorious rants against “greedy” corporations for which Olbermann was widely known.
But honestly, the thing that has always perplexed me to no end is how anyone over there at MSNBC ever thought a lightweight ex-sportscaster with a potty mouth was ever going to be able to outdo Bill O’Reilly. Olbermann, for his part, was constantly trying to turn his time slot into a raging feud with O’Reilly, but really, the dueling duo never was any contest at all.
It takes but a scant little jog over to Wikipedia to note the grave disparity between the bona fides of Bill O’Reilly and Keith Olbermann.
O’Reilly may not be one’s favorite guy, but he earned his prime-time slot the old fashioned way, putting decades into actual journalistic reporting.
During the ’70s and ’80s, Bill O’Reilly was working as a broadcast and behind-the-scenes actual journalist. From Scranton to Dallas to Denver to Portland to Hartford to Boston and to New York, Bill O’Reilly was working as a news correspondent after earning a master’s degree from Boston University in broadcast journalism.
O’Reilly was racking up Press Club awards and Emmies for actual news reporting. He finally made the jump from local channels to ABC in 1986 and by 1991, O’Reilly took over Inside Edition from the acclaimed David Frost. Evidently not content with more than two decades of honest-to-goodness investigative journalism under his belt, O’Reilly left broadcasting in 1995 to garner another degree. This time, he chose the John F. Kennedy School of Government. That’s at H-a-a-a-vard, don’t you know. With a new master’s degree in public administration from the liberal-esteemed university of first choice, O’Reilly reentered the field and steadily climbed the all-American ladder of success. No matter who one is or where one stands upon the issues of our day, there is no one who can deny that Bill O’Reilly has earned every dollar in his bank account.
And before Bill O’Reilly ever stepped foot in a newsroom, he played semi-pro baseball and taught high school students English. O’Reilly has had a real life of real work and real ladder-climbing since his youth.
So, what of Olbermann’s bona fides? Sorry to be so indelicate, but honestly, this man couldn’t hold a candle to Bill O’Reilly, whether on TV, in a fist fight, on a baseball diamond, or even just on paper.
While Bill O’Reilly was earning his way into the genuine field of investigative broadcast journalism, Keith Olbermann was getting lots of laughs and attention doing nothing more than talking about sports. Now, talking about sports has a nice place in American life. Sports are great. I’ve always believed that participation in organized sports has kept many a would-be delinquent off the streets and out of jail and prevented many a war between testosterone-addled males. But really, all Keith Olbermann ever did before ginning up his political cult followers was talk about sports. He never even actually played sports; he just talked about others who played sports.
Even when he was in high school, Keith Olbermann was never on a baseball diamond. Instead, he was obsessively collecting baseball cards. And talking and writing about collecting baseball cards. He even went on his high school and Cornell cow college radio stations talking about baseball cards and the real sports heroes who adorned the little cardboard rectangles. From the cow college to the network sports scene, all Keith Olbermann ever did was talk about other people playing sports.
That’s it, folks. Keith Olbermann is — and always has been — nothing but a loud-mouthed, adolescent wannabe. In short, it’s not hard to see why Comcast balked at paying little Keith more money. What is difficult to imagine is why they ever put him up against an accomplished journalist like Bill O’Reilly in the first place.
As hard as I’ve tried, I’ve never really been able to hate Keith Olbermann. He clearly has various and quite intricate female “issues.” He has never been married. His love of fame and money and loose morals have left him with nothing more substantial than his own potty mouth for comfort. And he is getting old fast.
So, maybe I will cry a bit for Olbermann and leave you, dear readers, with this one admonishment:
Whatever you do, Mommas and Daddies, don’t let your sons grow up to be Olbies.
Nothing whatsoever good could ever come of following this reprobate off the cliff into a life of nothing whatsoever worthwhile or in the least bit desirable or admirable.
And that’s all I have to say about Keith Olbermann. I’m just so glad I’m not his mother.

As to MSNBC my guess is that their new owners might actually want to make some money rather than continuing to run a talking head show for liberals and losing their ass. Isn’t it funny that, for the vast majority of “commentators” on the left, none of them have any serious journalistic bona fides? You get all of these “celebrities” who think that just because they are “celebrities” everybody should listen to them on the serious issues of the day, from Obamacare to the national deficit to foreign policy. My favorite person to hate is Janeane Garofalo. Why ANYONE would listen to a washed-up has been “actress” like her is anybody’s guess. Yet you always see her on the liberal talk shows as some sort of pundit or “authority” on the political issues of the day. Here is a person who hasn’t done much of ANYTHING except spout off junk that nobody ever listened to on the now defunct Air America, and all of a sudden the liberal media thinks she’s Oliver Wendell Holmes! Just shows you that liberals are all talk and bluster, but none of their opinions are ever based in fact OR experience, especially in real-world practical experience. Just another reason not to listen to any of them, not that I needed one to begin with.

A few weeks ago I made the mistake of turning on a Sunday morning talk show, I don’t recall which one, but Arianna Huffington sat at a round table holding forth. I would put her in the same category along with Behar and other uneducated loudmouths.

I would like to see Hannity and Uberdumbkoff on the same show. Nothing would be a better illustration to America of the competing philosophies. I wouldn’t put any restrictions on either one. Let the uber-fool reveal himself for who the marxists really are, with Hannity having a half hour every night to paint him as the clown and America-hater he is, unfiltered.
Mark Levin might be a more knowledgable debator, but you can’t really tell if Levin would be good on TV, and he doesn’t have Hannity’s charm anyway. We know Rush isn’t good on TV. Beck might do ok, but he might go a little strange. O’Reilly would be spouting Marxist dogma by the second week to goose the libwit viewership. Hannity is the best choice.
I’d settle for a half-hour weekly show of KO being spray-painted orange, wrapped head-to-toe in duct tape, and then being beaten with a pool cue by Ann Coulter.
I think there’d be a significant market for that.

Keith Olbermann was extraordinarily useful and much needed for all of us.
A disease that is dormant goes untreated. It is only the rashes, boils, fever, vomiting, …the body’s violent reaction against the disease that awakens us to the peril.
Olbermann was all those things…and more. He said what Obama would never say. He spouted what leftists wanted to keep hidden and disguise.
MSNBC is the disease farm, Olbermann was their lead plow horse.
It is NOT Obama’s soothing words, it is NOT the “calm reasonings” of CNN, ABC, CBS, or even Brian Williams that put us on full alert. No, those dull the senses and distract the ear.
It was Olbermann who showed us exactly, precisely, brazenly…what the left believes, thinks, feels…and wants to accomplish.
Putting him back on his leash does us no good. Of course we recoiled at his venom and bile. Of course we were revolted by his frothing madness. It’s the frothing madness of those who mask their intentions and implant their notions with more creative deceit that shields us from the true malevolence.
It’s not when the mad dogs are barking loudest that should frighten us. It’s when the rabid stop barking and we can’t hear them.

Bingo. But/for MSNBC and its luminaries like Olbermann, the left-wing’s baser reality is off the radar. The subtle bias of parent network NBC, for example, may escape the public’s detection. Yet even the most politically clueless could apprehend the horror show left-wingers represent whenever Keith would, and Matthews, Schultz, Scarborough, and O’Donnell will, bare their fangs.
The RNC would be well-advised to pump money into MSNBC just to keep the hate coming and the public aware of what the other side really is like.
Speaking of Janeane Garofalo, my wife and I walked out of a movie where she was masturbating in a bathtub. I can see where the left would think highly of her. As for Olbermann, that shite house rat will show up someplace else within six months to a year. Guaranteed.

The delusional Keith Olbermann seems outraged that several media outlets said his program is in danger of being canceled due to low ratings.
He refuted the vile rumor that his ratings are spiraling downward at an ever-increasing rate. “First the small picture on how conservatives come to believe the crazy, nonsensical, totally fact-free things they believe,” Olbermann said. “How they transform discernible, provable lies into their wishful thinking version of the truth.” He then insisted that stories of his plummeting ratings are a figment of conservatives’ imaginations and even bragged that the program’s audience has grown. Just one problem? OIbermann is flat-out lying. His ratings are going down. Big time. Bottom line: Olbermann’s audience is rapidly dwindling away. Obviously, the same math used by the President to explain how Obama Care won’t grow the deficit is being used by Olbermann to explain how his ratings are growing instead of shrinking. And we suspect the same math is also being used to explain the number of jobs created or saved and maybe even how the world is heating instead of cooling. I have to be honest though. I will watch Keith on one condition. If it has Lawrence O’Donnell or Bill Mayer, you know its going to be like watching a bunch of squirrels’ having sex with a football. Delusional Supreme.
Keith has the contagious virus going around MSNBC called the “O’Donnell Syndrome.” Keith’s so called “show” routine never included a smidgeon of intelligence but now it’s even worse, he now sounds like a cross between Mel Gibson and Ed Schultz. As the syndrome progresses it will cause Keith to fall into the “Chris Matthews phase.” This will lead Keith to start spitting when he pronounces certain words, it’s similar to Sylvester the Cat’s lisp. Sylvester’s lisp of course was much worse but at least the people he talked to stayed dry. The next phase is the Dylan Rattigan phase and he will find himself starting to spend time in Hugh Hefner’s grotto and believing the women when they tell him “you were great” or he will start believing the info coming out of MSNBC. The last stage of the syndrome is called the Lawrence O’Donnell psycho phase. This phase will start with an eye “tremor” or eye itch, similar to the one that Inspector Dryfus had (Inspector Clouseau’s enemy) in the Pink Panther movies. The angrier you get, the more it twitches. The more it twitches the angrier you get. And of course with this last phase, he will start believing the notes the Progressives have him reading.
The NYTImes is the last bastion of whitewashing communist excesses and atrocities. While Duranty’s work no longer lives on in a column, it survives in the subtleties each day, wafting from the perfumed caskets, where truth is cremated or buried daily.

Olberman and O’Reilly are cast from the very same mold…though their travels may have been different. At least Olberman, to the best of my knowledge, has never intentionally destroyed lives and career’s of innocent people simply because he disagreed with their lawful judicial decisions.
Frankly, I’m coming to the decision that most all professional “opinionator’s” of the various mediums, are the social dregs of society.
Kudos Kyle-Anne, your screed has the tone of reaction one has when the family Doberman (an intentional rhythmic device) decides to do its business in the middle of the living room when both the Bishop and the university president are there to visit. It’s unclear if the feeling of revulsion one has for Olbie can be truly expressed in the English language or even through primal utterances.

I understand Keith will soon be Obama’s new science advisor and educate us on how global warming was to blame for his low ratings. He wil then decree a carbon tax and use the billions collected to provide a stimulus package for select newspapers and failing cable shows in the interest of news neutrality…

Olberman does not speak for the Left. He speaks for the FAR Left. People like him and Bill Maher are useless and just make the Left seem like Psychos. In essence, they are to the Left what people like Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck are to the Right.
If you really believe that, that you must willingly ignore that within the last couple of years, Limbaugh signed a $400MM radio deal (the highest in recorded history), and Beck continues be a number one best seller with an ever growing audience. If Beck were in O’Reilly’s time slot, I have no doubt he would surpass O’Reilly’s numbers.
That ‘one and the same’ euphemism may sell in the “intellectual” and/or “elist” circles of the MSM, but the facts say otherwise.
Unless you believe the Super Bowl and intramural flag football analogous too.
The question with Keith isn’t just “Where will he land next?” but “Who would be willing to give him the format he demands?”, since the most obvious thing about “Countdown” was that from about early 2004 on, Olberman had virtually no guest on the show who would utter anything but the most tepid disagreement with whatever loopy argument of the day the show’s host was making.
Would CNN be willing to offer up a show like that? “Countdown” was like putting a frog into a slowly boiling pot of water, the meglomania was ratcheted up incrementally over about a year’s time, so the no dissenting opinions aspect only became clear over time. Put him on now, and that’s what everyone would expect, and even CNN may not want to toss its journalistic reputation in the trash, no matter how bad “Parker-Spitzer” is.
Even if you stay within the Time-Warner empire, you can’t put Olby into a show like Bill Maher’s on HBO because even Maher offers up at least one conservative for every 4-5 liberals. Keith won’t even do that — he walked off his first MSNBC show repeatedly because he had to talk about the Clinton-Lewinsky scandal with people who weren’t all Sid Blumenthal clones.
The other big majors are equally unpromising. ABC already got burned with Olby on ESPN, so that’s out; CBS doesn’t have a viable news hole to fit his Special Comment rants, unless they want to make him Andy Rooney’s replacement on “60 Minutes”. And of course Rupert thinks he’s crazy. That leaves the internet or some digital tier cable/satellite channel like HD Net, where Dan Rather went to die, or IFC, which never met a liberal show it didn’t like and could make Keith their new Henry Rollins. Either way, for an ego as big as Olby’s getting lost on some video podcast or up among the Spanish language religious channels would be quite a comedown, even from MSNBC.
Oh honey I won’t…cry. But I will pray for the real conversion of family members, MSM and our President on this Feast of the conversion of St. Paul!
