Libyan Rebel Commander: ‘Cut Gaddafi’s Throat, Then Establish an Islamic State’
“The Jihadists Go to the Front.” This is the title of French journalist Julien Fouchet’s report from eastern Libya that appears in the latest edition of the French Sunday paper Le Journal du Dimanche (JDD). Whereas American officials have been straining to make out “flickers” of intelligence suggesting a jihadist influence in the eastern Libyan rebellion against the rule of Muammar al-Gaddafi, Fouchet encountered a flagrant jihadist presence and met with participants who talked openly about their dedication to jihad and/or their desire to establish an Islamic state.
On the front near the oil-producing town of Brega, for instance, Fouchet spotted a bearded commander on a sand dune giving orders by satellite phone. The man wore the traditional robe favored by the Salafist current of Islamic fundamentalism and had a Kalashnikov slung over his shoulder. “You can’t speak to him,” rebel fighters told Fouchet. “He is not fighting for Libya. If he is fighting today, it’s for Allah.” Fouchet describes seeing imams driving among the ranks of the rebel fighters in a pick-up truck and reciting prayers over a loudspeaker.
Further to the east in Darnah, one of the strongholds of the rebellion, Fouchet met a certain Sheikh Choukri Al-Hasy, the director of the town’s principal mosque: the al-Sahaba mosque. As previously reported on PJM, according to captured al-Qaeda personnel records, Darnah furnished more foreign fighters to al-Qaeda in Iraq than any other foreign city or town — this despite the fact that the town’s total population is only 80,000. According to Fouchet’s account, the mosque contains a mausoleum where some 70 companions of the prophet Mohammed are reputedly buried. Seventeen rebel fighters are now buried nearby. “Those who followed the prophet Mohammed were the first jihadists,” Al-Hasy explained. “So, it’s normal that we are burying our martyrs next to them….”
Photos taken by Fouchet for the French photo agency Abaca Press show a wall of the mosque covered with portraits of the town’s “martyrs.” The captions to the Abaca Press images reveal a detail that is not mentioned in Fouchet’s JDD report. The “martyrs” commemorated at Darnah’s Al-Sahaba mosque also include locals who died fighting in Iraq. (Thumbnails of the Abaca Press photos are viewable here.)

For some reason this is what DaOne, and Clinton are helping in North Africa, and Egypt. In the Bible, this soon to be Ummah is called the King of the south.
So we’re going to end up with a whole bunch of Iran/Pakistan type islamic safe havens surrounding Israel and controlling the worlds oil flow.
This is going to end bad no matter how you look at it.
First!
“cut Gaddafi’s throat and establish an Islamic state.”
That’s our guy. Our guy.

“Because the Only Good Progressive is a Failed Progressive”
It seems like the great lefty ring of organized paedophiles is pushing ever more for Islam and sharia to be established.
All these sharia controlled countries are a nightmare. The terror comes back upon their own people with plenty of torture thrown in for good measure. When will they ever learn?
They never learn because the entire Middle East operates under a premise
of tribal mentality with compromise not in their vocabulary; winner take
all, and then the overthrow plot commences once again. What is required
in the Middle East, is to pick a radical country, namely Iran, and send
them at least 2 visitors in the names of Little Boy and Fat Man, and
permit them to feel the power of progress, the nuclear atom, transmitting
them to visit their hero, ALLAH whom is waiting with his 77 Virgins.
Once Little Boy and Fat Man have made an impression, similiar to
terminating World War Two in the Pacific, the world will know peace.
The radical Muslims must be dealt with, not with words as is the M.O. of
Obama the Pretender, but with bare knuckle ring-intelligence, if you
follow. The religious leaders and the rest of the Male population are
deathly afraid of Democracy, because when Democracy becomes a household
name, and Democracy sets in as a way of life, they are finished.
Currently, males are in charge in the Middle East, and wield a tremendous
sense of power commencing in the home of a lowly peon, to a national
leader such as Gadafi, if you follow. Diplomatic solutions have been
attempted, ensuing in negative results, therefore, it only seems
reasonable to me and many other Americans, that in order to reduce the
loss of life on both sides, as was the same mentality that Harry S.
Truman used when he authorized the release of the atomic bombs on
August 6 and August 9, 1945, bringing the war in the Pacific to a
screeching halt. In essence, the West is dealing with the same
religious mentality with radical Islam, that was currently in vogue
with the Japanese in 1945. Islam is spreading throughout the world
at an alarming rate, giving rise to many religious cells in each
country, and because of Political Correctness, and fear of retaliation,
many countries, this full-scale religous movement, is a threat to
Western Civilization as we know it. It is a pity that a group of highly
uneducated rag-hatted, dirty, ugly, camel herders, are permitted to
hold the world hostage. Think about my words of wisdom, because they do
speak of a sense of justice that most Liberal Countries are terrified to
react to, but the world needs to get over the “BIG BULLY” mentality,
and retaliate in kind.
Wasn’t it Hillary who said, “we don’t know who the rebels are?” Stupid is as stupid does.
My enemy’s enemy is my friend.
She might not know, but we do.
—”We must arm the rebels in order to find out who they are” It’s the Nancy Pelosi methodology of kinetic action and nation-building.
One thing to keep in mind is U.S. intelligence was directed from above to be vague and incomplete, it had to be or obama would have been forced to do something. This way he can do as he pleases or nothing, as he did until pushed, based on incomplete intelligence. According to the socialists little red book of rules and regulations all intelligence must comply with your overall intentions in all matters and the only accurate information ever to be released will be after the fact and will substantiate any actions you may have taken.
Ideology rules obama and obama rules the followers.
But– isn’t this the Religion of Peace?
It sure is. Because they figure by the time they’re done, we’ll all be Dhimmis, or dead. And that’ll be very peaceful for them.

So – one French reporter, on hearsay or his own opinion, defines someone as an ‘Al Qaeda leader’ …and everyone instantly jumps in and says: ‘So there. All Muslims are jihadists. All Muslims require dictators to constrain their basic animal violence. Let them free…and ….”
Think. There are, among the population, people isolated from the notion of freedom, but very aware that the current repressive poverty is ‘not right’. They want it to be ‘right’…and they are under the illusion that Islamic purity, a population who are ‘all Islamists’ will ‘make it right’. We in the West also succumb to utopian ideology – be it socialism, communism, scientology or whatever…So, they are fighting for ‘the better way’..which they think will occur when everyone around them is Islamist. And thus, the oceans will cease to rise and..
Others are also very aware that the current repressive poverty is ‘not right’. Their answer is freedom to develop their own businesses, freedom to take part in the political process…that is…they aren’t interested in the ideology of religious purity but in the freedom of man to carry out..well, basic sustenance activities.
The West, and particularly, the conservative perspective, continues in the old mindset of Said’s ‘Orientalism’..which saw the peoples of the ME as either corrupt tribal oil princes or Islamic terrorists. But couldn’t it be possible, just possible, that they are neither – and that a great mass of them want freedom to live economically productive lives and want a role in the political decisions of their nation.
Yes, there are jihadists – and these are militant not simply against the West but also against other Muslims who are not ‘pure’ enough. This fascist mindset requires authoritarian purity, and operates only by totalitarian repression. But…do the peoples – and I mean the majority not the marginal – do the peoples of the ME all want to replace one dictatorship with another? Are they protesting for MORE repression or for freedom? Are they fighting for Islamist fascism..or against repression?
I’d suggest that we move out of ‘Orientalism’ and into reality. The people of the ME – whether demonstrating in Iran, in Yemen, in Tunisia, in Syria, in Egypt or fighting in Libya – want freedom. Yes, there are some who think that ‘freedom’ means’ Islamist purity’…but they are a minority.
Remember, Islamism cannot function in a middle class economy which requires freedom and individual entrepreneurship, and the ME population growth has moved far beyond the carrying capacity of a non-middle class economy. There’ll be bumps on the road…but..there is no choice. The ME has to move into capitalism and constitutional democracy.
ETAB: Yes, there are some who think that ‘freedom’ means ‘Islamist purity’… but they are a minority.”
A minority with AKs and organization, which the poor liberals down there don’t have and are unlikely to acquire in time to save themselves. If your faction has the guns, it doesn’t matter what the majority wants.
Others are also very aware that the current repressive poverty is ‘not right’. Their answer is freedom to develop their own businesses, freedom to take part in the political process…that is…they aren’t interested in the ideology of religious purity but in the freedom of man to carry out..well, basic sustenance activities.
I can’t deny that you might be right. In fact, I very much hope that you ARE right. Nothing would please me more than to find that a strong majority of those who are protesting their regimes in the Middle East are genuinely trying to overthrow their oppressors and institute democratic and secular governments.
But where’s the proof that this is true? Simply wishing it were true does not make it so. How do we know that the large majority of protesters aren’t simply Islamists that are using a few democracy-advocates as window-dressing to dupe the West into mistakenly labelling the whole movement as pro-democratic?
This is akin to the assurances of liberals that most Muslims are moderates and only a small minority actually support the imposition of Sharia Law and the use of terrorism to achieve a global Caliphate. Again, this would be very comforting if true but I see little reason to believe that it is true. If most Muslims are moderate, why have we seen no massive demonstrations by them, particularly in the West, assuring us that they are indeed on our side in the War Against Terror? Surely such demonstrations would have been widely reported yet I recall no such demonstrations.
Recognizing a believer in democracy and an opponent of Islamism in Libya is undoubtedly very difficult in the midst of a revolution cum civil war where the rebels clearly have Islamist elements. I’m not sure how a reporter that doesn’t speak the language could reasonably hope to do so. I’m not even sure a reporter WOULD seek to find proof that most of the rebels are democratic secularists; they seem to prefer to treat it as a given.
I don’t know if I’m just getting more skeptical as I grow older but I, for one, would dearly love to see some real proof that most of the rebels in Libya (as well as Yemen, Egypt, etc.) are in fact democratic secularists. I am not prepared to assume that just because I want it to be true.
If you have any proof, I would love to see it….
I doubt that the ME rebels want ‘democratic secularism’; you can’t expect them, or any people, to abandon what they consider as a religion. I, myself, may consider it has little to do with religion and more to do with a 7th c societal economic and political mode of organization…but although the INFRASTRUCTURE of this mode is necessarily chaning, the rhetoric, the ideological change, will come later.
Nor do I think that the people there want Islamic fundamentalism. They have shown no evidence for such, either before this current rebellion or during it. Your suggestion that ‘it’s there even though we can’t hear or see them express it’ – is a very weak argument for its existence!
Actually, people – expatriotes of Egypt and Libya and Tunisia etc…have demonstrated in various foreign cities in favor of the rebellions – specifically for freedom and democracy. They did not demonstrate in favor of fundamentalism.
As I’ve said before, there are TWO possible answers, but not solutions, to the problems of the ME. These problems are: massive population increase, a no-growth statist socialist redistributive economic mode relying on one commodity (oil sales); and a tribal or non-participating political mode. This set of triadic infrastructures – is the ME problem. How does one deal with it?
One answer, and it is the wrong answer, is rhetorical. That is, it operates within words, within the imaginary world of ‘the future’. It is a Platonic solution, which asserts that A Good Life Exists..If and Only If, all members behave in a certain way. This answer is Utopian. It assumes an existential Purity-of-Form…when we know that purity-of-form must remain in the imagination and cannot, ever, exist in the material reality.
But this Platonic Utopia..is fundamenalist Islam. Similar to communism, fascism, …it prescribes universalism of behavior. But, since people are material beings and not immaterial images-in-the-mind, they don’t ‘behave’. And Utopias always resort to vicious and violent force to make Utopia happen. Doesn’t work.
Furthermore, Platonic Utopias – and Islamic fascism is one – since they function only in the imagination…cannot deal with the MATERIAL REALITIES of that triad: massive population, inadequate economic mode, repressive political mode. Heh…this triad isn’t in the imagination. It’s REAL. And requires REAL not imaginary solutions.
So- the only solution is: private enterprise capitalism enabling small and medium businesses and thus, a middle class market economy. Not a statist socialist redistributive economy. But a middle class market economy.
And that means – constitutional democracy, for all economies must empower their most economically productive class.
We in the West have to move out of the naive view of Orientalism, which sees all Muslims as either corrupt thieves and/or terrorists..and consider the Triad of Realities: population, economic mode, political mode.
The ideology – that Muslim Mantra – will change; ideological change never comes before the Triad; it always comes after, when people start to express that deeper infrastructure. Some people, heh, think that all there is to people are ‘the words’. I don’t buy this postmodernist view. I focus on the Triad of Realities.
Western media is basing a great deal of their reporting on supposed facts provided by the exile group National Front for the Salvation of Libya, which was trained and financed by the U.S. CIA. Google the front’s name plus CIA and you will find hundreds of references.
The Wall Street Journal in a Feb. 23 editorial wrote that “The U.S. and Europe should help Libyans overthrow the Gadhafi regime.” There is no talk in the board rooms or the corridors of Washington about intervening to help the people of Kuwait or Saudi Arabia or Bahrain overthrow their dictatorial rulers. Even with all the lip service being paid to the mass struggles rocking the region right now, that would be unthinkable.
There was no talk of U.S. intervention to help the Palestinian people of Gaza when thousands died from being blockaded, bombed and invaded by Israel. Just the opposite. The U.S. intervened to prevent condemnation of the Zionist settler state.
Western interest in Libya is not hard to find. Bloomberg.com wrote on Feb. 22 that while Libya is Africa’s third-largest producer of oil, it has the continent’s largest proven reserves – 44.3 billion barrels. It is a country with a relatively small population but the potential to produce huge profits for the giant oil companies. That’s how the super-rich look at it, and that’s what underlies their professed concern for the people’s democratic rights in Libya.
They do not know democracy nor can even fathom its existence. They are a couple of generations away from the time when the West had any doings in their nation. At this point, they want whoever will get them food and water. Their average education level is around 3rd or 4th grade. From those who have been to Libya in recent years, the reports come back that you don’t see any women there, anywhere, ever. They live in abject poverty, have little, though there are (were?) a few places in the Italian sector in Tripoli that engage in a form of free enterprise and even have a decent restaurant or two. But this nation of Libya is largely tribal and like so many other desert nations, gains what little income it does through the flow of oil. The vast majority of that wealth being horded by Qadaffi. With the Q-man’s ouster will come violent islamic law, you can count on it. The powerful people with weapons and cash are those who engage in terrorism and hate. They are gangsters and are seeing an opportunity for getting Qadaffi whacked. To them, it’s all legit and how business is done.
I doubt that the intelligence commumity under this administration could find a terrorist at Gitmo. The ineptness of this President is like a contagious disease, it has infected everybody that comes in contact with him.
It’s not ineptness. It’s actually his inability to hide his preference and admiration of islam. His hatred of how the West does business is also showing and it’s all pretty much intentional. There was a time when people used to engage in “people-watching” a valuable skill and necessary one as well. Parents would teach their children about how different people do things in different ways and why. Nowadays, people lack that cynical mistrust of anyone and seem to accept everyone else as “legitimate” even if they are a known bad entity. Another reason as to how chairman O became president. Many people bought the slick sales pitch and found out too late that there’s sawdust in the transmission. Many others did not, countering my statement about lack of cynicism but alas, the numbers were not sufficient to keep him away from our government. He and his co-conspirators have done more damage in two years than anyone has ever done in any length of time.
I can’t say I’m surprised, but I think this is clear indicator that Obama should be impeached for yet another act of treason. I’ve added the link to this article to the massive roundup on the Libyan Lunacy that I have posted at my place:
http://zillablog.marezilla.com/2011/04/libyan-lunacy-linkaround.html
Easy to say now but for many it was quite apparent what was going to come out of these revolutions. Middle Eastern societies are conservative by nature and the most conservative thing they do is to establish Islamic governments ruled by Sharia Law. That is the nature of those societies. The first warning signs came out of Egypt when the Muslim Brotherhood co-opted the protests. So don’t be surprised if Libya turns in the same direction and maybe this is the very reason why the Obama administration is supporting these movements.
And yes, #1 Leatherneck, you have a good point about the King of the South. The risk of nuclear war in the Mideast is very great now. Egypt just announced today that they are going to re-establish relations with Iran.
Yes, just what the civilized world needs, an oil-rich nation ruled by barbarous savages who want to party like it is 899. Only Foggy Bottom, the Obama Administration and the handful of folks who still will admit they are now or ever were neo-cons want to oust a neutered dictator and establish another Islamist government. Insanity, they name is contemporary American politicians.
I guess it would be too much work for the CIA to simply get one or two guys to just TALK to some of the rebels and see who is running the rebellion. That would be much too simple. Maybe we really should get rid of the CIA and just get French journalists to run our intelligence gathering operations. Seems like they’d be better at it.
And these are the people Obama wants to help overthrow Gaddafi. Wouldn’t it be an amazing turn of events if Gaddafi was actually right in putting down the radical Islamist rebellion in his country? Think about it. Who would you rather have running Libya, a crazed dictator who was becoming more pro-western as the years went by, or al Qaeda and radical fundamentalist Islamists? Wow, what a great choice to get us involved in, Mr. President.
I am alternately stupefied and infuriated by all of those (unlike this author) who reliably and repetitively shill for ‘freedom’ for Arab and Muslim peoples under the direction of Jihadist forces, whether Salafi/Wahabbist or some others. While I give full credit to the facts of stupidity and incompetence in and among political circles, it is not possible that this is the full explanation. This is also about making sure you control or attempt to control oil sources by installing those who oppose dictators who are anti-Western. The terrible irony is obvious – most of the forces supported are far more anti-Western than even the Qaddafis.
More friendly fire please.
YAY! Let’s keep giving the “live-in” revels more cash & guns & ammo so when it comes time for them to finally do the armed invasion of American communities, they’ll have a hard time deciding whether to use AR’s or AK’s to kill us with. With a little luck, the blood letting will begin in DC so the moslemaniacs will be able to protect their own personal CIC (caliphate in-cognito). I could be wrong but then again, the earth might be square or flat or whatever mighty mo dictates it to be…
“We have evidence that after the Tunisia and Egypt conflicts in January, people in the regime were planning how to control demonstrations inside Libya,” Mr. Moreno-Ocampo told Reuters.
“They were hiding that from people outside and they were planning how to manage the crowds … the evidence we have is that the shooting of civilians was a pre-determined plan.”
“The planning at the beginning was to use tear gas and (if that failed to work) …, shooting,” he added”
http://www.nationalpost.com/news/world/Gaddafi+planned+civilian+killings/4561979/story.html
These are the people that we are helping. Great planning.
