Competitive Enterprise Institute Sues NASA in Wake of Climategate Scandal
– Internal discussions about NASA’s quiet correction of its false historical U.S. temperature records after two Canadian researchers discovered a key statistical error, specifically: discussion about whether and why to correct certain records, how to do so, the impact, or wisdom, or potential (or real) fallout there from or reaction to doing so (requested August 2007).
– Internal discussions relating to the email sent to James Hansen and/or Reto A. Ruedy from a Stephen (Steve) McIntyre calling their attention to the errors in NASA/GISS online temperature data (August 2007).
– Those relating to the content, importance, or propriety of workday-hour posts or entries by GISS/NASA employee Gavin A. Schmidt on the weblog or “blog” RealClimate, which is owned by the advocacy Environmental Media Services and was started as an effort to defend the debunked “Hockey Stick” that is so central to the CRU files. RealClimate.org is implicated in the leaked files and expressly offered as a tool to be used “in any way you think would be helpful” to a certain advocacy campaign, including an assertion of Schmidt’s active involvement in, e.g., delaying and/or screening out unhelpful input by “skeptics” attempting to comment on claims made on the website.
This, and the related political activism engaged in, are inappropriate behavior for a taxpayer-funded employee, particularly on taxpayer time. These documents were requested in January 2007 and NASA/GISS have refused to date to comply with their legal obligation to produce responsive documents.

The theory that AGW is a politicized scam certainly fit the facts and predicted this outcome – a lot better than the AGW theory predicted CO2-related warming trends, at any rate.

In addition to FOIA, let’s remind Justice that 18 U.S.C. 1001 makes it a felony to lie, withhold information, or knowingly make false statements to Federal executive and legislative branch officials.

No, we can’t trust any of the data or the results supposedly produced using that data. That’s why it must now be put published widely and then received the rigorous examination that it should have had from the beginning.
And yeah, scientific journal editors, I’m talking to you! YOU let the scientific community and the world down by not doing your jobs. My Ph.D is not in climatology, and yet I knew that things were going badly awry. If you didn’t know, it’s because you didn’t want to.

It is the algorithiums that have to be checked. You can get the annual temp data for the different sites. If you compare the urban and the rural sites you see quite a difference. The rural sites do not show any warming. They manipulate the data so that the urban sites skew the data to show warming.

I’m not sure where this all goes but I’d like to think this is just the beginning. If anyone takes a serious look at this problem, these scientists have caused countries to spend enormous amounts of money, fighting something that hasn’t been proven. The House Democrats have passed a Cap and Trade Bill, all based on this flawed science, that could cost trillions of dollars and numerous jobs.
For better or worse, GE has invested billions of dollars trying to gain favor with the environmental zealots, lobbying Congress to outlaw the incandescent light bulb, forcing television manufacturers to make their Large Screen Televisions more energy efficient. Congress has not allowed us to become energy independent because it would require drilling for oil and we’re committed to lowering our carbon emissions, because of this flawed science.
Personally, I believe this lawsuit, and many others, is necessary to help stop the people that spread these skewed statistics for a political agenda. I’m sure that same liberal philosophy, that brought about this scientific malpractice, is also being done in the area of health care legislation, etc. It appears that the liberal ideal of doing what it takes to win, is at play in many things.
I hope that the news organizations and law enforcement take the bull by the horns here and bring out the truth about what happened. I’m sure the AGW crowd, in the U.S., is as guilty as those in the U.K.
Due to the crimes evident in the emails released isn’t it time to release all of the emails? This should also be a basis for the Supreme Court to review the validity of their ruling that C02 causes global warming. For the Supreme Court not to review their ruling would reduce their crediblity on being on the right side of the law.
NASA officials (et al) have the right not to incriminate themselves. Especially now with RICO breathing down their necks.

File, baby, file. #1, they don’t need a particularly honest judge, but certainly will need a hard assed judge. These fed judges all get upset when they are stiffed by either side. The Alarmists will be unable to put a security restriction on this stuff so they will have to tell why they will not comply. If the emails and evidence implies destruction of material, you will have a pissed off insulted judge….and if a simultaneous action takes place in UK the noose will close quickly.

I am no scientist nor great intellect, but I too have known this to be a giant scam for at least a decade.
Just as I knew John Kerry was a liar regarding his war record/purple hearts, etc. It has now been over 1,700 days since he promised to release his Navy records – yet the citizens of Mass. still allow him to sit in the Senate!
Just as I knew B.H. Obama had no experience, abilities or knowledge to do the job of POTUS.
I will admit though that I did not see it coming that he would be such an “in your face” Marxist, consummate liar, cry baby or blatant racist.
If you were to put a seperate button on to receive donations, specifically intended and only used to support the legal costs you will incur in your lawsuit against NASA, I would send money. I am a first time visitor here and don’t know that I want to make a general donation, but if you have a “case specific” donation option (and if you advertise it’s existence with other skeptic and denier type sites), my guess is you will raise millions very quickly. People want to stop these crooks.

If you take a look at the FOI file “rules of the game” it raises questions about how long ago did this all start and how were these people vetted to be on these Teams… This hand-out is condescending toward the unwashed; skeptics and the masses. Doc99, you have got it exactly right. Not only did Einstein try and prove himself wrong he would have been happy if someone else did it because it would mean an advance in science and human knowledge, what all TRUE scientists aspire to. There will be arguments about the leaked data for months and years to come I’m sure but the emails are crystal clear: these guys are DEFENDING a theory, not investigating it. When the observations don’t match the predictions instead of asking themselves “could the theory be wrong” they are asking “what’s wrong with the data.” What’s wrong with the models is probably the right question to ask.

Finally, shouldn’t we conclude that the whole field of hazardous waste management and/or air quality is a scam. Let us not make the mistake of confusing Pollution with AGW. There is nobody of any political party that thinks the absurdity of Cap and Trade need be an excuse to have pig manure in our drinking water. Pollution control and waste management is a health issue as well as a quality of life issue. Cap and Trade is the basis for a world government capable, if Al Gore et al have their way, of controling global trade and a system of redistribution of wealth on a scale that Marx never dreamed of.

The EPA submitted testimony to the Supreme Court that was based upon the modeling and projections supplied by the IPCC and NASA, etc that was based upon data supplied by the GISS and the CRU. Now the CRU is saying what amounts to ‘their dog ate their homework’ – that they intentionally destroyed, (for whatever lame reason they claim), the raw data that they used to generate their adjusted data supplied to those AGW hoaxers. The existence of that raw data, the very foundation of all of their claims, was submitted as FACT and now we find out that it cannot be verified to have ever existed in the first place. That’s called a LIE in my book and telling one to the Supreme Court ought to earn the hoaxers some serious jail time for telling it. Yes teacher, you HAVE to also believe me when I tell you that my dog ate my homework – that, yes of course, it existed for the dog to eat.
While it’s certainly easy and convenient for them to ~say~ that they destroyed the raw data, it will NOT be so easy convincing the Supreme Court that it should have been assumed to exist for entry as supporting evidence when there is now as much proof that it even existed as there is empirical evidence that human CO2 affects earth’s temperature in any measurable way.

The email climategate scandal has peeled open an insightful view into the strange and criminal world that so called scientists manipulating climate data have inhabited for nearly half of my lifetime. The email tells a sordid tale of corruption and racketeering and alone is damning enough. But of the contents that were leaked on the server, 95% of the materials were source code. Source code that can be analyzed and evaluated for discrepancies and oddities.
And the tale the source tells is even worse. It isn’t just clear that criminal activity exists, it is without a doubt. No hack programmer that is worth his salt can ignore this outrageous attempt to code their way into the biggest global scam in history. That, my friends, is a smoking gun… and is more than enough evidence to put the whole lot of the culprits in any one of a number of nation prisons for quite some time.
Now onto the next logical step. Who in the current administration, house of representatives, senate and other federal institutions had a hand in this. Their email needs to be peeled open as well. We need to see the publicly paid for servants email to determine if they were in on this collusion. Any organization that has anything to do with global warming, climate change or environmental studies needs to open up their servers and materials for full evaluation so an audit can be conducted to find out who is responsible for this horrific crime against humanity. Trillions of dollars have been spent, lifetimes of opportunities have been forgone, and continuous harassment of the general population has been all a part of this farce and the individuals responsible need to be held in account for it.
Contact everyone you know and let them know that we need to get our public servants to start serving the public.
