Left-wing or Right-wing. The fact is: there is something going on.

Things changed since World War II (there are other things that happened too earlier). Talk to elder people and they just know the "principles" of US are different. We have some good: womens rights, black rights and gay rights. The problem with that though is they should JUST be HUMAN rights.

I still wonder about marriage and "separation of church and state". What a weak reason to marry for a tax advantage. Or the silly notion is teaches commitment. If you are committed to someone who isn't committed that's just slavery itself. Bound legally or else it's a penalty. Can't you love someone and not have to BUY a ring or BUY the ceremony? A court binding you to your love? You really need a state to approve that?

There's just so much bullshit on both sides... It's almost like a game just to divide. Think about it, each side only is partially what US should be. Divided you fall. It seems to work.

I bet those who control the University administration aren't either party. They just want to keep people from understanding what's really going on. A civil divide in a country. It's still the sheep game. Party favorites (like it is music or something) You've been brought up that way to believe (much like religion). It's a gang war of bloods vs crips.

Also, everyone looks to a president to do everything. Giving a guy that much attention flaunts his ego. You are almost asking for someone to dictate.

I think this country is plainly uneducated (I have been played with and just doubt everything now). PhD's know only a little within their field... such a narrow focus doesn't help you become a citizen it helps you become a job applicant. I bet most people that create stuff patent it and don't even understand the implication of the patent. (It hinders someone from doing what you did to get to where you got.) That's innovation! (I just want to puke).

You can't get a job without college so saying college isn't compulsory isn't really helping. Kids know to get a job you NEED a degree. Corporate places demand that. College must then teaching you to slide into the corporate mess easier. The government subsidizes the loans to do it. Tell me that isn't a PROBLEM.

Wouldn't it be nice if there was something called competition? You hate your job you can go to the competitors? Jobs use to be abundant and health care wasn't even an issue because you'd be out of a job for like 2-3 weeks. Now, you loose job options but you still have so many other options like colors and little small options that are meaningless. We have dual-monopolies. Why are small businesses hurting but not the big guys?

Everyone is still racing for it all and they race even more because the doors are closing. It's getting narrower and narrower. There is a huge build up at the door because it's like a dam. The dam gets money off that build up too it creates electricity. So many metaphors.

You'd think with global competition and technological advances the view would be broadening and the possibilities endless...

Stay positive they say. I think that means turn a blind eye. Life worth losing.

It doesn't matter anymore, I can't prove it. I have to prove everything now. If I felt sad, I suppose I have to prove that too. Then people would tell me to DO something about it... Here we go again.

Hilarious stuff!

These comments are a superb collection of anecdotes, hasty generalizations, rumors, and hearsay -- indeed, all your favorite right-wing logical fallacies. "From the South" was the lone voice of reason amidst the juvenile babbling.

First, I doubt this story is true, since the Right is not exactly known for its ethics (eg, the "lying for Jesus" phenomenon). Second, if it does exist in some form, the indoctrination certainly cuts both ways, as "From the South" said. Indeed, it's a false equivalency argument: in reality, the US is dominated by right-wing propaganda at all levels of society... except for a tiny percentage of universities, the last remaining oases of reason.

The Right LOVES to play the pitiful victim of liberal aggression. Like I said, hilarious!

A similar experience happened to me way back in 1969 at the University of California at Snata Barbara, when sudent radicals decided that protesting American involvement was jsutification for burning down buidlings and cancelling classes. I voted with my feet, transferring to a small, private college to complete my undergraduate degree. I've never regretted the decision.

[...] Indoctrination of today’s American youth is following the Marxist model, the Hitler scheme, and in today’s world, China. If your kids do not get enough basic conservative Judeo-Christian grounding while in their formative years of K-12, then when they get into the college system somewhere they may encounter and be overwhelmed by the radical brainwashing programs such as at The University of Delaware, which created a program named “the treatment” for all incoming fresh-persons. It’s “stated intent was for the approximately 7,000 students in U.D.’s residence halls to espouse, in FIRE’s words, “highly specific university-approved views on politics, race, sexuality, sociology, moral philosophy, and environmentalism.” [snip] “The treatment” was also mandatory and punitive. Students were required to attend training sessions, group floor meetings, and one-on-one meetings with their Resident Advisers (RAs), who, having been coached in interrogating vulnerable freshmen, plied them with invasive questions. Thereafter students were rated on a scale of “best” to “worst,” according to how they complied with the prescribed campus orthodoxy. For example, students were grilled about when they first discovered their sexual identity. One resistant student who replied, “That is none of your damn business,” was written up as having one of the “wors[t] one-on-one” sessions, and identified by name and room number.” Read all about it . . . College Mind Police Live to Brainwash Another Day.
The University of Delaware, and similar institutions, no longer respect the power of reason and try to make people have beliefs by intimidation. It is the denial of the very basis of education.

Does anyone else see the ultimate irony in this? Teens have always gone to college to rebel against authority. So what happens when the authority in charge is rampantly liberal? They become just as adamantly conservative. I teach teens, they are contrary folks. It's going to be fun on down the road.
