College Dream About to Get Easier … for Illegals
When deciding on a college, funding options are everything — especially these days. More than ever, the cost of college forces a decision that affects a young life long-term. As a result of factors such as state residency, sometimes location is the only factor in play despite any personal wishes.
According to the Democratic leadership, this situation should only be fixed for one group: illegal immigrants.
The DREAM Act would, among other things, allow illegal immigrants of “good standing” to obtain a college education while being charged the in-state tuition no matter their location, as well as give them provisionary status through the filing of applications that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) will not be allowed to see.
Hence, not only is it a slap in the face to our border security laws — which, according to a certain judge, are being secured “overwhelmingly” — but to America’s youth.
Aside from the economy posing a fiscal challenge for many families attempting to send children to college, this administration is attempting to further chip away at the nation’s future.
ObamaCare passes more debt to young citizens. The student loan takeover lands on the youth of America as well. Now, the DREAM Act lands a blow: considering the beneficiaries are illegal immigrants, not only will they avoid footing the bill for this someday, but they will receive a discount that young citizens only dream of.
Sadly, when the idea of full in-state tuition for all is examined, all you find is this pending legislation.
Senator Harry Reid has already attempted to pass the DREAM Act in the past by attaching it to a military funding bill. This time, America looks to be more aware: we know the Act is on the lame-duck session to-do list, and rewarding lawlessness is not going to sneak by this nation unnoticed.
This time, the DREAM Act is being paired with a regulation which would allow illegals who serve in the military certain allowances. This attempt is nothing more than President Obama’s last chance to make good on promises made to illegals and the Latino community before the House leaves his control. (Politico has declared the attempt a “down payment” on other promises regarding immigration reform.)
The midterm election results showed just how important the youth vote was in getting Obama elected in 2008. Now with the economic picture so dire, many such as myself are looking for more education to give us a chance to find work. In-state tuition prices would assist the economic burden of such a decision — but the Democrats aren’t interested in helping the youth who did so much to help them, just the youth who don’t now and likely never will pay taxes.
Hopefully this action will be remembered in 2012.
This is one of my pet peeves. Here in California, I watched Latino and Black students get into to schools they never should have gotten into, get scholarships, get grants, assistance with housing and etc. Their grades can be a whole point lower ie: my son 4.3, Hispanics 3.3 and they get all the benefits. Hispanics now number 51% of the grade school students in this State ; but, they are given preferential treatment regardless. Whites in this State are now a minority, pay most of the taxes and continually get crapped on. Oh yes, we elected Brown for Governor. For that matter, I don’t think that one Republican was elected to anything. Watch for an exodus of White middle-class tax payers from this State. Now this system is about to go national with the Dream Act. This Dream Act is going to be a nightmare for America. It should be called the Nightmare Act. I don’t know if there is a way to fight this; but, if there is a way, it has to be done. Otherwise our children will be second class citizens in our own country. Whites are already second class citizens in California. It shouldn’t spread to whole country. Our country was founded on the objection of taxation without representation. Now we have King George or Rep. Reid doing the same thing. Don’t let this lame duck congress lay an egg we all have to fry.
Everything you say is true. They are the majority yet still whine they are the minority. I go to college in LA. It is a racket. The kids get out without knowing how to read and write ANY language. They get four year degrees and are still illiterate and still complaining. God help us.
This is a hard topic, because thinking of a certain proverb which says, “do not despise a man who steals to feed his family” it is understandable that people are naturally sympathetic towards illegals “in the shadows” doing what they do (the quiet working ones). However, the proverb finishes by saying, “but when he is caught he will repay sevenfold, he must give all the substance of his house”, obviously, indicating that a penalty is due. The fact that state governments are groaning under the strain to make ends meet from illegals using public programs and resources effectively means they are caught.
Also, from Ecclesiastes, it says that crimes increase when the authorities do not administer the law.
The law must first be changed. Make crossing the border illegally a felony, and do not allow citizenship from so-called anchor babies. Put up a wall with cameras (and create all those security jobs – no need for national guard there).
Like a busted pipe. First the water is shut off. Then the hole is fixed. Then the clean-up. Right off, such clean-up would entail automatically deporting ALL illegals guilty of a felony or DUI. The cost of deportation would be equalized against the alleviated pending strain on the legal system.
As to illegals who are in and behaving themselves, I actually believe the solution is that they will get to stay, probably even get to bring their families (which stops them from sending money out), and of course, pay some penalty of sorts and must pass an English competency class. As it also says in the Bible, “I desire your mercy before your sacrifices”.
Dream act supporters apparently assume that college students (even those who are only two years into earning their diplomas) are productive, educated members of society worthy of amnesty.
Truth is, as long as you have money, you can probably attend any kind of college regardless of your academic skills. If the lowest level of the community colleges rejected you, then you can try your luck with some for profit college like Devry or Westwood. If that doesn’t work, you can apply to some online college scheme, er, operation.
If the dream act passes, illegal students will borrow tons of money to attend any colleges that will accept them, then possibly drop out after 2 years if their grades aren’t good enough. The kind of debt they’ll pile up won’t be paid back with manual labor that “most Americans won’t do”.
That said, I could stomach a Dream Act with the following caveats.
1. A much lower illegal entry age than 16; I would make 5th grade the cutoff. Or else we have the Univision versions of Welcome Back Kotter and 90210 in every state school orientation. 12 year olds often are eligible to be in the militaries of other countries. Schools are awash in bureacracy – they best have the actual records of enrollment. Use the schools as a vehicle for culling.
2. No chain migration: whoever is here in the house with you gets at best a “custodial” visa that can be yanked for you messing up. No residency for third-tier, non-nuclear family relatives back home.
3. Triple-FICA (SS/Medicaid) taxation borne by the recipient on future above board earnings (no increase to employer’s share) as an eternal fine. Keeps the boomers happy.
4. A higher tuition rate for non-essential majors (non Engineering, Sciences, and non-math intensive business). If we are “stuck” with this particular cohort, lets experiment on with new models of pricing for higher education with them.
5. Make the dream act provision(s) for each student and nuclear family unit contingent on the voluntary deportation of one single, no-dependent having, but otherwise non-court supervised illegal relative. If Uncle Joe just got here and he’s in his “wild and crazy guy” stage of life, send him to the bus station. That was actually an option during the FDR-era enhanced enforcement of immmigration laws in the mid-1930s. My grandfather got the feds to let him and his family stay while he gave up his younger single brother.
Another nearly flawless example of the US Constitution as a suicide pact. Whatever country this is it is certainly no longer the United States of America. What it is is an airport for the entirety of the Third World and if you’re a white European you are a baggage handler and if you’re against it, you’re a racist.
The rest of the white European population in favor of things like the DREAM Act are clueless liberals who hate the story of America along with minorities. The US Constitution basically gives rights to every single person in the world if they can just touch American soil. How a judge who reads our Constitution like that is not a traitor is something I don’t know. The Constitution needs to be changed to take away the rights of illegals so their property can be seized for their own repatriation and the Anchor Baby law done away with and made retroactive.
We are using a late 18th century document interpreted by idiots to handle a problem unseen so long ago, namely a baby boom in failed nations inundating our country, sucking dry our treasure, murdering our citizens and with anti-white political correctness and cultural relativism the enablers.
Eventually the non-white people of the world who are the ones who are not racists and imperialists will exert their leavening of wonderful skin color with its magic charms and America will see a wonderful future of prosperity and wonderfulness undreamed of by shallow George Washington and his gang of slavers.
The reality is that when minorities achieve the magic 50% non-racist non-whites drool over for some reason, we will see shanty towns spring up as where will the numbers come from to oppose them if we cannot oppose them when outside the country. You are talking about people who cannot compete with Europeans, politically correct to say so or no and there are only so many gov’t jobs to go around. As a result, the same status of underclass will create crime and radicalism alá Mexican gangs, the Congressional Black Congress and its dogs Obama and Holder, La Raza, Nigerian internet fraud, welfare and welfare fraud, followed by more anti-white legislation to “solve” the problem. I weep for my country that embraces the racism that elected Obama and calls it diversity. 95% of the black vote going to Obama ain’t “the greater good” baby. If us racist whites did such a thing Obama would be organizing a one story church in Chicago.
Unfortunately, those leaving their failed nations cannot match the moral courage of a George Washington. If Third Worlders here to leech off our system had been in George Washington’s position, it wouldn’t have been, “I cannot tell a lie.”, it would’ve been, “I cannot stop running away.” The grass is always greener in America if you haven’t the brains or courage to plant some, the seeds starting with 350,000 racist whites representing 80% of America in 1861, who died to end slavery. If America didn’t need diversity then, and it didn’t, we sure as hell don’t need it now. Where can I run to? Mars? I sure as hell don’t live within borders. To me, the DREAM Act is a horror I cannot wake up from as it means I am just another guy on the planet and without a country to call my own.

The idea that white people are the “real Americans” is going to fade. We will have a multi-racial society in the United States. We are already on the way.
Whites will be a part of the make-up of America. Just a part. (Probably at some point, just a little part.) And that’s OK. People are people. Saying things like ‘non-whites can’t compete’ is of course, quite racist. I feel sorry for you.
People of Northern European ancestry (the people you are probably talking about) make up only around 8% of the world’s population. Whites may end up at about that same percentage here in the United States and again, that makes perfect sense because we will be in “balance” with our numbers world-wide. Don’t fret – the good news is that the human race will live on. There are bright, capable, intelligent, imaginative (you name the positive characteristic) people of every race!!

If things are as you say, than the idea of multicultural diversity is in itself racist. I think this one is a little too nuanced for you. If in fact, skin color doesn’t matter, than why the need for diversity?
