Climategate: Phil Jones Finally Proves Al Gore Right — The Debate Is Over

CRU's Phil Jones just ended it via the BBC, but the world now owes credit where credit is due: to the long-suffering, abused global warming skeptics. (See also Roger Kimball: "It’s Not That I Like Saying 'I Told You So' About 'Global Warming,' but ... ")

Now that Climategate ringleader Phil Jones has admitted that there has been no global warming (man-made or otherwise) since at least 1995, and that the world was warmer in medieval times than now, I only have one question. Where do the so-called global warming skeptics go to get their reputations back?

As head of the Climatic Research Unit at the University of East Anglia — their data underpins most of the claims of man-made global warming — Jones’ admission should be the final nail in the coffin of the anti-carbon dioxide crusade of Al Gore, the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), most green activist groups, industry lobbying groups like the U.S. Climate Action Partnership (USCAP), and President Obama.

Concepts and policies like cap and trade, carbon taxes, carbon footprints, and carbon offsets all should shortly be relegated to the same ash heap of history as eugenics, communism, Enron, and Bernie Madoff.

Secondary school students subjected to hysterical global warming propaganda — like Al Gore’s An Inconvenient Truth — should recover quickly, if they were even paying attention in the first place. Since global warming alarmism for America’s universities was all about the federal grant money to start with, they should have no problems switching gears as long as the money keeps flowing.

Goldman Sachs probably won’t get to profiteer from trading carbon credits. But not to worry — there’s always some new sort of financial fraud for modern Wall Streeters to engage in just around the corner. General Electric will be forced to return to Thomas Edison-like innovation rather than lobbying for revenues and profits, but that should be no problem after shareholders get rid of global-warming-loving CEO Jeff Immelt.

Yes, the world will inexorably move on from global warming to new crises, both real and imaginary. But before it does, the world should give credit where credit is due: to the global warming skeptics.

As one of those skeptice, I’m somewhat teed off.

I NEVER got my check from Big Oil for taking my position.

    Mr Milloy:
“I’m talking about those lone voices, especially during the Bush years. ”

Quite so, they are due a debt of gratitude, as is President George W. Bush, who took a great deal of political damage over his refusal to implement Kyoto.

We can honor the courage of those folks who stayed true to the scientific method by zealously prosecuting and unceremoniously bundling the charlatans and the criminal fraudsters out of their occupations and into prison cells.

I have to give All Gore credit, he has dreamed up a lie and then made millions off of just repeating it over and over. Thank God that George beat him out for the Presidency.
Of course we have only ourselves to blame for letting the likes of his kinds get in high positions in the first place.Gore is sure a strong arguement for term limits.

    Hey, JD:
No money (I’m a working stiff) but let me give you a big hug. And, if you get to Shenyang, China, drop in and I’ll buy you a beer or two. Now, off to the next silly mountain to conquer.

People should be livid, and all those people bilked out of tax money, donations, carbon “offsets”, etc… should definitely be facing jail time, IMHO.

In any case, it’s just plain offensive to pull something like this. What low-lifes to ruin the reputation of scientists?

I’ve known this was a lie for a long time — common sense could even tell you. Those who thing this may have been a circuitous way to control more people would’ve been right, too — people would be taxed and such and one of the unintentional consequences of less money for self and family is less freedom and comfort…

    All the above is JMHO…

  6. 6. Michelle

Accidentally edited out a bit in the first paragraph! LOL

All of the professors, politicians, and celebrities should be investigated and definitely facing jail time if they knew about the fabrication of data and did nothing, or perpetuated the lie.

*Sorry added a bit more commentary, too*

Liberals always change the terminology to fit their agenda. When the term “global warming” became toxic (partly b/c of the record snowfalls), they quickly adapted it to “climate change.” It’s part of their wrong-headed charm: bums become “the homeless”, disease-infested swamps become “wetlands” and mosquito-filled jungles become “rain forests.” Their terminology must fit their cause. If you don’t buy into their mantra, you’ll be destroyed personally, professionally, & possibly financially. The tolerance they preach for others is non-existent in them. Their ends don’t have to justify the means – the means of cheating, lying, destroying, are irrelvant; the ends is all that matters. Liberals must be defeated, period. If left unchecked, they will destroy us all.

You mean there has been no significant rise in global temperatures, Co2, or sea levels for the last 15 years?

    I can start breathing again?

If Phil Jones is not our prophet of global warming are we to look for another?
Book of AGW: page 315 paragraph 12

Will the left wing nuts now tar and feather Phil Jones thus causing more release of Co2 and further erosion of our fossil fuels and bird populations?

    We need answers-

I don’t want to just look out my window here in the deep frozen south and say:

“Cut down another tree for firewood, it is snowing again!”

We need some Trolls on this board to warm up the discussion.

Always remember. When you know someone is lying, “a lie is a lie”. This lie has been propagated by the progressive “foundation” and government waterfall of cash for “studies” with the politically correct conclusions.

  10. 10. Scott E

Now, can we get back to a valid reason to develop alternative energy and finding productive sources within our dominion – decreasing our reliance on foreign oil. This reason has a valid narrative that has not left us in the smoke and mirrors of climate change.

“Concepts and policies like cap and trade, carbon taxes, carbon footprints, and carbon offsets all should shortly be relegated to the same ash heap of history as eugenics, communism, Enron, and Bernie Madoff.”

Wishful thinking I’m afraid. Man-made Global Warming is effectively a new religion with many of our young (and weak minded) indoctrinated into it’s lies – followers will close their ears to reality and talk about “belief” and “faith” in AGW.

Besides, there’s too much money and too many reputations involved in the entire scam so this horse manure isn’t going to go away.

  12. 12. Howiem

And let’s especially never forget the person who leaked the CRU-Hadley document. He or she struck a major blow for freedom. I suggest that Obama erect a huge monument to him or her – in front of the United Nations Building in New York, blocking the entrance, since there is no longer a need to populate that den of thieves. If the hacker is ever found, then he can replace Obama as our first Brit President.

  13. 13. B Dubya

It ain’t over ’til the Fat Lady sings.
This scam is not quite done yet.
There are two reasons that this cadaver still shows signs of animation.
The first is that AGW is a secular religion among the libtards and, as a religion, global warming is a matter of faith. It is the opiate of the pseudo-intelligent girlyman in our urban centers. Let he who is without carbon sin cast the first snowball.
The second is that the left, like their murderous icons (Lenin, Stalin, Mao, Fidel, and last, but not least Che), operate on the Big Lie principle; that if you tell a lie loud enough and often enough, it will become truth. A corollary to the principle is that, if you write it in a book, or film it in a movie, it is gospel handed down directly to Mohammad Ibn Algore (MHFIH*, as revelation. The obverse of the principle is that, if your faction doesn’t say it, it was never spoken.
So, the propaganda apparatus of the current resident of the White House, the “alphabet MSM”, will not be eager to report on the unfortunate admissions by anyone named Jones at CRU.

Same here. I’ll just have to be content with the knowledge that I’m not going around with egg on my face, or having a large helping of crow for dinner.

Now, AlGore, Dr. Jones, & Company, let’s talk about building nuclear and hydroelectric power plants, shall we? I really think it’s time you got off the “Holy Wind & Holy Sun” stuff.

Oh, and could somebody find Dr. James Hansen a real job? (Nothing to do with the “environment”, or population planning, please. And definitely not with NOAA, or NASA.)

    Thanks.

It’s just too bad that charlatans like Gore and his ilk have made a fortune out of this scam, and that they won’t be taken to task for their deceptions. They’ll just go their merry way knowing that they had fooled a lot of fools and enjoy their ill gotten gains with impunity.

  18. 18. marsouin

Now that the man-made global warming is finally shown to be what was long suspected – the biggest con in a century, when are the those who promulgated this going to be held accountable? Virtually the entire political, journalistic, and scientific classes in the West need to be put on trial for their key role in mind-boggling corruption. I see this is as the fruits of the 60′s university radicals who are now in charge of most of the societal institutions, and who corrupt and destroy everything they touch. Alas, as this scandal is of such epic proportions, I’m afraid the guilty who should serve their sentence in underground bunkers in Antarctica, are going to get away scot free.

  19. 19. Theo Goodwin

McIntyre and McKittrick, Monckton, Simon, Lindzen, Lifson, Sheppard, the Pielkes, Watts, Bolt, Singer, Spencer, several more Brits, my gosh the list is long, and much longer than the few names mentioned here. Everyone of them a hero deserving at least a presidential commendation.

Of course, the price of freedom is constant and never-ending vigilance.

  20. 20. Flighterdoc

Since Jones threw himself under the bus, the AGW shills will say that he wasn’t an important part of the ‘evidence’, that the science is still settled, etc.

Funny how all the MSM stories ignore the facts.

  21. 21. pelaut

So where is the punishment for the crime?
Why aren’t ALL grants to anyone and any institution involved revoked permanently?
Where’s my tax refund for knowingly misusing my money?
Why isn’t Al Gore in jail? After all, he’s done a Bernie Madoff with the “carbon market”.

  22. 22. Rich Vail

What you won’t see or hear is Mr. Gore fessing up to the facts…the facts that he personally stands to make billions on “carbon trading”. Nor will you see or hear that he’s returning his Oscar…

And how about some tar and feathers for the lying alarmists?

Climate change is perhaps the gravest calamity our species has ever encountered. It’s impact could dwarf that of any war, any plague, any famine we have confronted so far. It could make genocide and ethnic cleansing look like sideshows at the circus of human suffering.”

    George Monbiot, 2006

  25. 25. Larry70

I only hope Milloy is correct, just one problem – since when did the MSM and liberals in general give a damn about facts? If I were to rely on the media I would have no idea what just went down these last two months or so, the general public are largely clueless. You think that the beauracrats and scientists and NGOs at the trough are going to give up their delusions and hysteria so easily. Hardly, in fact as a result of cognitive dissonance, it is only going to get worse, that is the hysterics of the global warming goons, in fact it already has. Don’t you know all those snow-storms are proof positive of global warming?

  26. 26. JVDeLong

It is indeed a roll of honor — and Steve Milloy has a prominent place on it, too.

Don’t kid yourselves. These people will NEVER pull up stakes and disappear. When you put out rat poison, do you really think you’ve eliminated rats? Every single thing they have ever lusted after, from Woodrow Wilson to Barack Obama, is anti-human and hated by normal people. And yet they have managed to get most of into law and our culture by sheer persistence, lying and chicanery.
Global Warming will live on as something else, just as the Law of The Sea Treaty lived on as global warming.

  28. 28. goy

If there’s any chance at all that Jones can still be declared a heretic/charlatan by those AGW faithful who were ‘duped’, ‘misled’ and whose brave research was ‘tainted’ by his shoddy data management and imbecilic excuses therefor, don’t be surprise to see Gore’s crowd regroup with a whole new line on this old B.S.

There is FAR too much money and power at stake for these people to simply tuck tail and go away. They will only go down swinging – especially someone like Gore, whose entire being is vested in the global adulation and reverence that feeds his bottomless narcissism.

  29. 29. Mark 5

Global warming dead? Pleeze. I heard the same thing circa 1990 with socialism/communism. The Washington Post makes sure to insert this bit of comfort in their piece this morning on climate scientists “missteps”: “There is still a scientific consensus that humans are causing climate change.” and “Climate researchers say the errors do not disprove the U.N. panel’s central conclusion: Climate change is happening, and humans are causing it.”

The only dead Global Warming is, is undead. The zombie with keep coming back for its pound of flesh. Somehow, you gotta hit the brain, i.e. the money. “Ya kill brain, ya kill da goul.” Or to extract a rule from Zombieland, this requires a Double Tap. There’s lots more fight left in this goul. You can bet on it.

  30. 30. cfbleachers

    Mark 5 @29

That despicable article was a shill piece dressed up as an inside look at the missteps of the IPCC.

“Insignificant mistakes and typos were made, and they tried to tell people they were perfect. They should have known that those who deny evolution would be ready to seize on typos and innocent mistakes in math to create a non-issue in this already settled science”

There, I saved anyone else from having to read that tripe.

  31. I have done about 8 segments on climate change, weather and the entire matter.

It has been a very painful process of discovery for me and I produce and host the shows.

    PJM readers:

I believe Mark 5 has got it right so I hate to disappoint PJM readers. Obama and his believeers are doubling down on ALL of their failed policies including so called “climate change.” It will take a HUGE effort to repair the damage of this willful deception and lie. The left has soooooo much invested in this lie, they will NEVER admit that they are wrong. All the stories of this including Jones admissions will be de-emphasized, distorted, ommitted from the daily news, and otherwise obfuscated to the general public. Far from being over we are likely in Round 1 of trying to kill this frankenstein of a lie. As Churchill said ” we are not at the end, nor are we at the beginning, but perhaps we are at the end of the beginning.” Forgive my inaccurate quote but you get it. This is not close to being dead yet so keep up the pressure for however long it takes.

A lie spoken often enough becomes the truth. Climate change is just such a lie that has been repeated so many times with links so broad and deep with institutional corruption including hollywood, the Academy Award people, media elites, academic so called scientists. the Noble Prize committee, the United Nations, the European Union, the UK and most liberal European nations, the big industies that make the windmills and other bogus tecnhologies that rely on this lie etc. I am sure I have only scratched the surface of those enablers who will not let this LIE die the death it richly deserves. Oh did I mention Joy Behar and that loser “Vagnina monologue” clueless guest who said how dare could Sarah Palin even be a candidate for VP because she is a Global Warming Skeptic. That was said just last week!!!
It is NOT DEAD YET!! Trust me!!

The gases coming out of our pollution are more than just CO2 and aren’t not only contributing to global warming but are destroying our environment…acid rain, ocean acidification, respiratory illnesses. What is certain is if stupidity reigns and we continue on the same old path the west will see far less of the carbon based supplies(coal, oil) as China and India buy up the world’s supply. The future Morons United want for us is to fight even more Wars over ever decreasing resources, pollute our entire environment to the point of making it a cesspool of life and give up trying to find a cleaner more independent future.

Phil Jones acknowledged in that interview that there has been no “statistically significant” warming since 1995. He goes on to state that 15 years is a very brief period and state that there is an overall warming trend.

As to the infamous MWP (medieval warming period) when there is “paleoclimactic” evidence of warming in the northern hemisphere, Jones said that they don’t have data for the southern hemisphere and, scientists have “debates” (cough) about whether or not the warming during the MWP was “global” in extent. Then he segues to highly convoluted claims about whatever the status of warming in the MWP was, it has implications for whether or not today’s warming is precedented or unprecedented. But…since nobody on today’s Earth in fact knows about the situation throughout the entire Earth in the MWP…

Tearing your hair out yet ?

He seems like a sensitive guy, but, unfortunately, many of the paper records supporting the warming thesis have been lost, in the mess of his office or simply because no one saw the value in conserving that mass of documents, maybe for some deep nefarious reason, or some combination thereof.

Politicians who have alighted on “warmism” as a means to effect agendas (some of them self-enriching agendas) are, in my opinion, as despicable, if not more despicable, than some scientists (I don’t know whether Jones qualifies) who have come to be driven by belief/money instead of truth.

The Copenhagen crowd was really hoping to stick it to “rich” countries.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, China proceeds apace in the trashing of the environment. (China has tried to set itself up to prosper from ‘carbon credit’ schemes as well). India and Russia and many countries in Africa as well, which environmental degradation, deforestation and destruction of animal habitat continue to be a tragedy.

Aw hell, let’s just have a single species planet, 6+ billion of us and counting.

  41. 41. carla

I’m really ticked off. Being an upstanding and concerned citizen, and in an attempt to lower my carbon footprint, for the past two years I’ve been buying shoes two sizes too small to lower my carbon footprint. My feet hurt like hell, and for what?? I’m smokin.

  42. 42. Steve DeMarcus

This is indeed great news! First it was the coming ice age of the 1970′s then it became global warming. I wonder with this new information if the EPA is still planning on limiting CO2 or will it now be abandoned?

We need to continue to showcase the fraud since the “true believers” of AGW will not go away quietly. And even then there is the need to battle the rampant dishonesty in other parts of environmentalism–a disease even more pernicious than climate change itself. Still, as an original signer of the “Oregon Petition”, I take a certain degree of satisfaction from recent events.

  45. Future historians will write funny books about this new episode in the unending history of fanaticism and bigotry: just think about the millions of leftists worldwide who have been marching and chanting like trained circus animals to defend and support a colossal lie, think about the teachers in the classrooms brainwashing the children, think about the media support to a lie (think Scientific American).

But don’t worry, the socialist -communist -anarchist -environmentalist – nihilist crowd will come up with something else, some other impossibly idiot pseudo-idea, certainly more lethal and bigoted than global warming.

Btw, that moron also saved women from being turned into baby stem cell production factories. Seems scientists (oops, a dirty word) found out it’s easier to turn your fat cells to stem cells than to kill babies.

  51. 51. Raymond in DC

Increase Mather writes, “Does anybody know if the MSM (especially television) is covering this? I don’t own a television machine.”

Not in the way you think. As recently as last week, Dianne Sawyer (ABC News), in the face of record breaking snowfalls, regurgitated the “warmest decade on record”, insisting that the IPCC report in fact predicted more intense storms. They weren’t, of course, predicting more intense SNOW storms, and that claim has already been discredited. But it’s easier for Sawyer and her team to repeat those “settled truths” than to do, you know, actual research.

  52. 52. chambers

The Jones “retraction” and the other black eyes dealt to the Copenhagen crowd have been very satisfying and are victories for both real science and common sense. However lets not kid ourselves. The totalitarians who make up most of the enviromental movement are going to regroup and come back on this with new tactics and new propoganda. There is far, far too much at stake for them. They have glimpsed the “Promised Land” of total societal dominance based on the threat of AGW and will continue to argue that mankind is doomed unless we knuckle under to their diktats. Since their objective is so completely “good” (as they tell themselves) any falsification or supression of data will be perfectly justified.

  53. 53. donttreadonme

Though the internet allows the truth to bubble up exponentially quicker than in lies-gone-past (McCarthyism, Silent Spring, etc), there is a boatload of cash at stake and these reds..err, I mean greens.. won’t go quietly. Those who care about protecting our Mother Earth from being gang raped by corporate oil barons so she can to continue to feed us, her children, might have framed a few issues in a manner that made the trends seem more obvious, but who can blame them for that. They only want to keep our earth happy and free. When the greedy overlords on Wall Street have finally made our soil untillable and our air unbreathable, do you, Mr. Milloy, think you will get a place on one of their self-contained biospheres they will hide in? Think about that when you cash your next paycheck to spew their propaganda.

  55. 55. Jim Baker

How can an entire world of people get so hoodwinked by a theory that makes no sense at all? I think most humans are basically stupid and qualify as completely pusillanimous and usually attempt to acquire information by counting the times they hear words and phrases. I am just sick of all of this environmental save the whales, polar bears, rain forests, spotted owls, wetlands, and recycling crap. Sorry, I lifted this from a previous post, but I have no more time for this stupid environmentalist stuff. They will never quit on any of this anyway. Religions are built on blind faith.

Another (tho’ lesser) recent disappointment is that H1N1 didn’t morph into the global (at least, national) catastrophe they were hoping for, hoping to use a pandemic to give B+arry and surrogates more latitude to compromise your “negative” liberties, that list of constitutional guarantees of areas where government is required to leave you the hell alone. (speech, religion, press, what you can hear over the airwaves etc., even tho’ there were no airwaves at the time those guys wrote the Bill of Rights)

Very problematic, these 2 recent disappointments. There are other tries in the pipeline (e.g., EPA using SCOTUS ruling to bypass Congress & do cap ‘n trade on its own)

Like the infamous James Hansen of NASA who, reportedly, acknowledged that warmists were exaggerating, but it was for the good of the planet? James knows what’s best for us, you see, and apparently was ok with stretching the truth in the name of his greater vision.

And that guy Pachauri who heads up the IPCC and, reportedly, had something of a carbon credit deal going on in New Delhi and who let all kinds of junk into the “definitively scientific” statement of the truth of global warming, the IPCC reports ?

The Goracle (“only peons don’t travel by private jet”) wants to keep our earth happy and free ?!

B+arry (“elect me and the seas will stop rising”) and the socialists are reliant on AGW being a fact. Don’t expect anything in the recent news to get that crowd to express any doubt or remorse, it would really screw up the political agenda.

Even though we’ve had some setbacks, global warming is real. It’s perfectly obvious to any thinking person that the environment and seasons are changing for the worse. We all need to work on saving this planet for future generations. Our President is trying to do this now with less support from the people and Congress every day. I just hope he can pass enough executive orders to make a difference before it’s too late. If a few regulations and taxes on corporations are what it takes to straighten out this mess we’ve made, I say, “Bring ‘em on.” This is all their fault anyway, along with the politicians who are in their pockets, like you-know-who.

‘Climate change is perhaps the gravest calamity our species has ever encountered. It’s impact could dwarf that of any war, any plague, any famine we have confronted so far. It could make genocide and ethnic cleansing look like sideshows at the circus of human suffering.”’

Genocide and ethnic cleansing are going on daily. Nuclear war is within the ten year horizon. Are you not aware of these facts, you fool? Climate change has always been and always will be a sideshow, even if the worst case scenarios are true. If they are true, there will be no earthshaking disaster for thirty or forty years. But Iran is getting nuclear weapons now and our president is incompetent or unwilling to stop them. Europe is unwilling to stop them. China and Russia are unwilling to stop them. Nuclear war in the Middle East is a near certainty in the next ten years and it will likely spread to Pakistan and India. Get serious, George, stop staring at the sideshows, such as global warming, and face reality.

Make the ocean made of money with the different funding foundations like IPCC pouring the money into the ocean, show them stealing the money from the citizens and have the money then be shown being funneled into the different forms of economy destroying legislation. I would then make a sun with rays of Truth, Evidence, Observation, and so forth melting the inviro-whacko burgs, fill in the sun with all the names of the longest serving skeptics we have.

It allways amazed me how the climate-change “faithful” never seemed to be able to explain why, that in the past the relationship between actual carbon emitted (by mankind) and the subsequent change in global temperatures was apparently non- linear in nature…The rise in global average temperature was allways put down at 0.1 degrees rise every decade according to the data, even though carbon emissions obviously increased in total tonnage in the later decades of the 20th Century compared with the middle of that Century…Yet the given change in global-warming increases, allways seemingly being that 0.1 degree rather than say a higher value as one would assume with obviously higher global emissions.(Suspicious in my view?)

Nearly as dumb as the ozone layer debate, where common sense told people that the ozone layer over the poles,is allways going to less (thinner) than over regions closer to the equator.People just love doomsday scenarios, mankind is addicted to these kind of stories of his imminent demise!

And, on the other hand, there is something a friend sent me to publish it here:

    We want Global Warming!
Why is all those people complaining the truth is public now? Did they want Global Warming? I guess yes. So, here I present some reasons why Global Warming myth would have been good:

1.- Since we are going to next Ice Age, actually some warming would be nice.
2.- I like baltic/scandinavian/finnish girls but I don’t like feel cold. With Global Warming, I can go to those countries to have sunny days in a beach, swimming like in Mediterranean and surrounded by beautiful girls in bikini.
3.- There could be wineries in North Europe!!! Just think about it! People in Iceland is tired of getting wine from mediterranean countries? With Global Warming they can grown their own wineries and produce their own wine! An increase of global production of wine is always welcome
4.- Scandinavian girls in bikini AND full of wine is not that bad either :P
5.- Don’t you hate those people who have a house in the seaside, while you have to drive hours and hours to reach the sea from your house in the mountain? ;) No problem! With Global Warming sea level will rise bringing the sea close to your home (and sinking those hateful people in the coast) :D

So… What are you waiting for? Go and produce lots of CO2! (Even though the main greenhouse gas is the water vapor!) And even when we actually need the greenhouse effect to live on this planet.

  75. 75. Mikhail

I would ask that those of you who haven’t read the ACTUAL statement by Philip Jones do so, and further that those of you who don’t understand the concept of statistical significance (including, apparently, the author) make it a point to understand what you are reading.

Spoiler alert: This is taken WAY out of context. Saying that there isn’t mathematical significance is not even close to saying something is insignificant in terms of impact.

I am sorry to say that if global warming is exposed as a fabrication, it will be a slow death by years of study and mounting evidence, not the dramatic story this is purported to be… and so far the theory is doing pretty well.

Those who care about protecting our Mother Earth from being gang raped by corporate oil barons so she can to continue to feed us, her children, might have framed a few issues in a manner that made the trends seem more obvious, but who can blame them for that.

It isn’t “mother earth” that feeds us, you ignorant, blithering idiot.

We are fed by all the technology that makes possible the inexpensive fuel supply for tractors, seeders, harvesters, railroads, trucking lines, etc. that grow, harvest and transport our foods — and the inexpensive chemical fertilizers and pesticides that nourish and protect those crops — and the inexpensive plastic packaging materials which store and protect our foods on their way to market and into our homes. And that fuel supply as well as those chemical fertilizers and pesticides and plastic packaging materials are *heavily dependent* on that oil industry you so despise.

In short, your very life, miserable as it must be, is being supported by the very “oil barons” you dare to damn. You’re not an “apostle of love” — you’re an apostle of viscious hate for the very individuals and technology that support man’s existence on this planet.

  79. 79. Slim5819

I’m proposing to all these global warming zealots that they must be consistent. If the purpose of carbon off-sets, cap and trades, etc. is to lessen carbon emissions then they should set a goal of outlawing all sports competition around the world. There are to be no more soccer, basketball, football, hockey, skiing, skating, etc. activities. For all of that exercise gets people to breathing fast and often and exhaling that terrible carbon dioxide. From the time a child is say, 6 years of age or so that child will no longer be permitted to run on playgrounds or at home. As I say, a modest and reasonable proposal in the interest of consistency and true worship of almighty Gaia who demands that we stop all that we are doing and give up all of the progress humanity has made in all the centuries before us. It’s no more crazy an idea than all the idiotic stuff we’ve heard over the past decade or so.

I see the epsilon minus semi-moron BC has appeared to call people names. It’s the only thing he can do since the so-called global warming science has been discredited.

    Mikhail:

In fairness you should have pointed out that in his interview that Dr. Jones omitted two periods where average global temperatures declined significantly. Dr. Jones has made a strategic retreat in his claims but is still committed to the warmist cause.

Global warming is nothing more then the central organizing of the new 21st Century Fascism.

  82. 82. Muttley

For information purposes: from the BBC transcript of the Jones interview:

“B – Do you agree that from 1995 to the present there has been no statistically-significant global warming

Yes, but only just. I also calculated the trend for the period 1995 to 2009. This trend (0.12C per decade) is positive, but not significant at the 95% significance level. The positive trend is quite close to the significance level. Achieving statistical significance in scientific terms is much more likely for longer periods, and much less likely for shorter periods.

E – How confident are you that warming has taken place and that humans are mainly responsible?

I’m 100% confident that the climate has warmed. As to the second question, I would go along with IPCC Chapter 9 – there’s evidence that most of the warming since the 1950s is due to human activity.”

    Have at it…..

  85. 85. tdiinva

    Muttley:

Jones seems to have made a significant error when he said : “…there’s evidence that most of the warming since the 1950s is due to human activity.” The period from approximately 1950-1980 was a period of a declining trend in global temperature. By the 1970′s the eco-Nazis like Hanson and Holdren were predicting an imminent ice age. The fact that he continues to quote from the thoroughly discredited IPCC report confirms my view that he is only making a strategic retreat while awaiting a media driven counterattack to preserve the warmist agenda.

    From my website:

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1250872/Climategate-U-turn-Astonishment-scientist-centre-global-warming-email-row-admits-data-organised.html

    http://gatewaypundit.firstthings.com/2010/02/global-warming-fraudsters-bilked-eu-us-for-800000-annually-for-last-20-years/

Think about this for a moment. If a big Pharma company developed a drug, tested the drug and marketed the drug causing terrible injury to the people taking the drug what would happen? If it were discovered that the people inside the company KNEW the data they presented on the drug was falsified, but still put the drug out, what would happen to them? Even if they seriously thought the side effects were acceptable because the overall good the drug could do was worth the losses, what would happen?

In Europe, in Britain, here in America the victims of this “drug” called global warming have paid TRILLIONS of dollars in taxes, lost wages, lost jobs, lost lifestyles, and lost opportunities. Trillions with a “T”. We are now beginning to get the picture that a number of people inside and outside of government also knew about the fraud. Take DDT for example. It was thought for years to harm the environment. The tree huggers and the governments got together and banned it. The side effect there was the deaths of millions of people worldwide. What if the people found out there were NO side effects and the people who pushed it knew? Or what if the were side effects and the people allowed it to continue, killing off millions of people and animals. What would happen? Would an “Oops?” suffice?

Hardly. Somebody would get sued, somebody would go to jail. Now we have an entire industry built around a science that was questionable from the outset. People with common sense knew this. There was way too much yelling and shouting down by the supporters of global warming for it to be “settled science”. We cannot get to all of the people responsible. Although I think now if we could link one email to Al Gore giving him a heads up this was bullshit, he should be one of the ones on trial. But, fantasy aside, the real targets here should be the core group of “scientists” that knew. The emails, hacked or not, are now evidence. The labs and all the records should be seized immediately. Civil suits should be filed in federal courts throughout the civilized world as soon as possible thus securing the records before more “go missing.” Don’t expect the governments to do it, they were in on it hoping for higher taxes. This has to be handled at the individual citizen level.

Phil Jones and that hockey stick fella should be immediately suspended or fired. Trust me, the only thing wimpier than a science guy is Bill Maher (whom I am publicly stating now I will beat until he pukes, if given the chance). The first time one of them got locked up on charges or indicted or even sued for a billion or two, the rest would roll over like trained puppies.

So, let’s get started. Find me a lawyer, there are millions looking for work as we speak. Get some legal beagle to start one suit in order to freeze the records. Come on, let’s burn some midnight oil, it apparently doesn’t harm the environment after all!

  87. 87. Dave M. (now in S. Korea)

Hold on everyone one. The White House has just opened the Council on Environmental Quality which was started to “to ensure that there is a strong science and policy basis for our environmental policy, to move the nation to greater reliance on clean energy and increase energy security, to combat global warming . . . .” Now that there is a federal program (or council), global warming has achieved eternity. Don’t expect the Republicans to eliminate or do anything else about the Council if and when they take power again. Mostly they’ll denigrate it in campaign adds and then increase its budget.

  88. 88. Steve DeMarcus

Global warming or climate change is merely “horse hockey” and the more it gets stirred the worse it stinks. Thanks to some on this site and others may the stink become so bad that no one want anything to do with this FARCE anymore!

  89. 89. archer52

Thank the Russians, who exposed all of this out of frustration. They knew but couldn’t get anyone to listen, so they hacked the emails. Now the wheels are coming off. Scientists don’t want to go to jail or get sued, this is why Jones is falling on his sword. He is trying to save his career and job, and maybe his freedom.

    http://truthandcommonsense.com/2010/02/15/suing-global-warming-for-loss-of-wages-lifestyles-can-it-be-done/

I say let’s get on with the lawsuits and freeze the evidence as soon as possible.

Also, it is now obvious that clean burning of fuel into carbon dioxide is not dangerous to us or the earth. Remember, plants love CO2 as much as we love oxygen.

My Acura TL is what they call an Ultra Low Emissions Vehicle (ULEV). When the ULE engine first came out years ago it was highly touted because its noxious gas output was so low and all that came out was carbon dioxide — at the time not considered harmful. The engine actually filters out smog-causing gases from the air, burns them and outputs only CO2.

Honda has been rather quiet about it in recent years because CO2 has been named a poison by none other than the scientists on the Supreme Court and the politicians in Obama’s EPA.

But CO2 is not a poison.

Repeat after me: burning stuff cleanly is not a crime against the earth.

Which, of course, has absolutely nothing to do with Jones’ pathetic and ever-changing claims about “losing” critical raw data and his elitist gall in assuming that everyone is ignorant of computer technology’s recent history – such as when he laughably claimed that “[d]ata storage availability in the 1980s meant that we were not able to keep the multiple sources for some sites [but, conveniently], only the station series after adjustmentWe, therefore, do not hold the original raw data but only the value-added (i.e. quality controlled and homogenized) data.” [emph. added for morons like BC]. Right – the facts of the last 15 years – now acknowledged by Jones himself – have demonstrated that his “data” is about as “quality controlled” as the idiotic drivel you post on a daily basis.

Keep frackin’ that chicken, BC. Keep attacking the “skeptics” while you studiously ignore the facts they bring to light. We’d be long past this point today if the CRU and ilk had not so willfully corrupted the peer review process, as evidenced by their recently revealed correspondence.

Jones and his partisan ilk will soon be getting the Bellesiles treatment. And not a day too soon.

BC – Phil Jones’ ‘exclusive’ interview with Nature was Phil Jones’ versoin of pleading the 5th.

Mr. Jones comment in nature, ‘I don’t think we should be taking much notice of blog sites..’. I was going to leave a comment on the Nature interview but another poster beat me to it.. word for word. “Without the blogs, this interview wouldn’t have happened”.

BC, Perhaps you should read the other posters comments & website referrals. Douglas J. Keenan of http://www.informath.org who also contributed an article to PJM sometime in the Fall last year I believe.

As for the cherry picking Boston Globe article.. you proved my point and didn’t even know it! The article goes on to site the National Weather Service of the erroneous forecast. The NWS is a Government funded (Department of Commerce) group of rubes who give online BS degree to anyone with a pulse. Hence the expected WRONG forecast. Which is what happened here in Northern VA/ D.C. last week.

NWS forecast 10-20 inches FOR A FAST MOVING STORM! Suffice to say, the area received ~1-3 inches. The damage was done here as well. No school, the G-Men had a snow day as well..

Oh, the AMS site.. the last it was updated was May 2009. I’m sorry to read of the AMS getting duped by AGW nonsense. Perhaps I’ll not pay my dues this coming Summer. For that, I thank you.

Lastly, the K.C. meteorologist who has ’500 signatures’ who are AGW supporters.. I recommend you read, peruse your library if you don’t want to buy it – ‘Unstoppable Global Warming Every 1,500 Years’. There you’ll see 10,000 (yes, TEN THOUSAND) names of some of the most respected Scientists, Climatologists, Hydrologists etc., in the world. But hey, the 500 signatures of t.v. meteorologists is ‘impressive’ too. I mean, some of the t.v. meteorologists actually possess a degree in meteorology, climatology. Wow.. hahahaha

BC – My last point whereas myself and others called Phil Jones on.

How you and others continue to give credit to AGW in light of the overwhelming evidence otherwise. Throwing away hard data due to ‘lack of space’ is the most damning piece of evidence.

Nobody, let alone hundreds of people at East Anglia throw away hard data can continue to call themselves ‘Scientists’ or any other moniker..

Oh, I worked with an Irishman in Colorado, a Meteorologist/ Solar Forecaster, Bill Murtagh. He’s known since Day One that AGW is garbage as well. Sadly he works for NOAA. Though his reasoning is the alternative would be the Australian outback..

  109. 109. BC

To paul_unalaska: You guys have no clue whatsoever of what exactly constitutes real “overwhelming evidence“.

Like other posters have said, this scam will not die easily. Already, the Warmists are reforming their lines ready for another attempt at pushing the CO2 boogeyman up the hill.

CO2 has to remain as the devil, because it is the manner through which the international Left can control energy markets, capitalist economies, and subdue individual freedom. The overarching goal has always been the redistribution of wealth. As Fred Singer put it, AGW’s goal is to redistribute the wealth of the poor in rich countries, to the rich in poor countries.

The new means to accomplish this is to raise alarm about “acidification of the ocean.” It matters not that even if all sequestered CO2 was released into the atmosphere and subsequently absorbed by the oceans, the PH would still remain alkaline. It is clearly a major example of the deceipt and lack of integrity of these people that a state beginning as alkaline, and whose end result after absorbing all of this CO2 remains in an alkaline state, can be described as becoming more acidic.

The acidic narrative allows for all the frightening scenarios of coral depletion and poor little shelled creatures not being able to reproduce their shells.

I guess if the temperature of water starts out at 45 degrees F. and declines to 40 degrees F. it has become more frozen.

Keep an eye out for this line of attack. It has already started.

@109. BC: – …what exactly constitutes real “overwhelming evidence“.

Terabytes of data doesn’t constitute real “overwhelming evidence”, you ignorant boob. Even when processed by the worlds fastest supercomputer, it’s still just data.

No scientist worth a snot would throw away real, raw, original data for something as critical as global temperature – not when the “value-added” version could be so easily re-generated from the original data at will. Even you should be able to see that Jones’ claims in this regard are a transparent dodge to avoid incriminating himself and the rest of the AGW clergy. Just like BHO’s birth certificate, the data most likely exist. We know this because at one point Jones simply refused to provide it for fear that someone might actually use it to question his work. The fact is that if the data exist, they can’t be shown to the general public because of the heads that would roll as a result.

The skeptics who fought the warmists are hero’s. They put honesty and decency before money which is unusual today.

But the fight has not been won yet. There’s too much money involved. And there are still a lot of MMGW devotee’s about and worried investors who are still promoting the cause. Along with stupid politicians who will not want to back down.

  113. 113. paul_unalaska

    Excellent points, goy.

I only wish Mr. Crichton was here to have this information and the fraudsters involved be seen.

BC, after MANY instances whereas myself and many people debunk a myriad of sites you present. Not once do you claim, ‘You’re right’ in any instance. Now, it’s Athena..

‘Overwhelming evidence’? The Athena project has been online for ~3 months. With the ability to accumulate terabytes of data to accrue, analyze, I hope it’ll have ALL the FUNCTIONAL weather sensors in ALL of Russia.

Perhaps Athena can debunk the sensors at/near bogus locations, as well as INCLUDE the higher elevation, cooler stations compared to NOAA, GISS whitewash..

    http://wattsupwiththat.com/2010/01/22/american-thinker-on-cru-giss-and-climategate/#more-15521

I know of the European, U.S. companies involved with the Athena project though am fuzzy in regards to their Asian counterparts.

The ‘Oak Ridge National Laboratory/ UT folks are in the pocket of the DOE. Go to ORNL’s site and you’ll see DOE’s Stephen Chu on the front page!

I’ve worked with the NSF in Antarctica and Colorado. The NSF is a HUGE federal conglomerate that receives ~1/4 of the Fed dollars for science, medical research. They’ve got their fingers in practically everything. With a budget of $6-$7 billion per year, they play both sides. Though companies this big often fudge the story and the headlines it makes.. err ‘receives’.

I fear that the declarations of the demise of AGW hysteria are premature. Sensible people who have been troubled that the hype didn’t seem to coincide with reality have been vindicated; but that doesn’t mean the war is over. They still control the universities and the media (evidenced by Tom Friedman’s Op ed piece in today’s NYT). The assumption is that AGW people are reasonable people who will follow facts and logic. We’ve already seen that they’re willing to manipulate data to achieve their own means. It’s going to take more battles to win the war against hysteria and collectivist guilt.

  115. 115. Sharpshooter

Jones, Mann, Gore, Suzuki, etc., should get rooms right next “door” to Bernie Madoff.

  116. @Wont Get Fooled Again

    WRONG :)
The term Climate Change was actually adopted by a republican senator, Bub Lutz in his famous 2003 memo, in which he encouraged all republican senators to adopt the term instead of Global Warming, therefore decreasing the perceived threat, and to emphasize any perceived “debate” and disagreement on the issue.
Just one in probably a litany of pieces of disinformation which you have digested and internalized as fact.

The only hysteria I see is when people deny climate change and claim legislation of any kind will ruin their lives; grow UP! How is this change in market conditions any different from emerging markets of other kinds which threaten the status quo ?
Quit whining about too much or too little government and get to work. We’ll all adapt and change, anybody screaming or whining can just get left behind.
peak oil anybody ? *ducks the flames*

  117. 117. Dave

You really need to read the interview before you say these things. Phil Jones never said the Medievel period was warmer. He also said 1995 to the present is too short a period to mean much to global warming.
