Now, I wouldn’t want to jump to any conclusions here, but it kind of looks to me like the “small group of scientists” caught out by Climategate are pretty much the same people who make up the vast and strong scientific consensus on global warming and write the official reports that the U.S. and other governments rely on to inform their policy decisions. I’m sure Dr. John P. Holdren, President Obama’s science adviser, has a plausible alternative explanation. He always does.

In real science, if your hypothesis is proved wrong by emperical observations and data, you are finished. The missing greenhouse signature proves the hypothesis of CO2 forced climate is wrong — The computer models, all of which use the CRU dataset as their start point, are wrong, falsified.
So in a sane world that would be, as they say, that. Need new hypothesis. It’s no wonder CRU had to fake and manipulate the data.
Open mouth, insert leg… And this is Obama’s “smart power”??? I shudder to think what it does when they are thinking…
In “The Bear & Dragon” by Tom Clancy, the Chinese Defense Minister said the situation is by no means lost. The Defense Minister, like Obama’s science advisor, chose his words too carefully, for a reversible situation is code for a policy disaster.
The lemmings who follow Al Gore, and the scientists that Mr. Ebell listed, will never admit their guilt, and frankly it reduces their legitimacy to the level of the “Brezhnev-era apparatchik” referred to by Daniel Hannan in his 3 and a half minute rebuttal of British Prime Minister Brown, in the European Parliament, which was then added to YouTube, and in a short amount of time went viral.
Oh I’m sure he’ll just say that this 40% or so are just on the latest document as “advisors” or “consultants” or some such and didn’t really have any real impact on the “true meaning” of the report.
BTW if he actually says any of those things I will laugh so hard because it shows how predictable these folks are.
Myron – Dr. Holdren is obviously ignoring the fact that all the climate data sets are inextricably linked and hence are all contaminated and unreliable. (My thanks to Viscount Lord Monckton for pointing that out.) Hence, any conclusions drawn by climatologists from those data sets have to be dismissed. If Dr. Holdren is to be worthy of the Ph.D. that allows him to use the title, doctor, then he must know what I am saying is true. Science only proceeds on testable hypotheses that are verified by data. At the moment there are no reliable data, and hence there can be no verification. Consequently, he cannot say it is just a small group of scientists. While it may true that a small group of scientists may have cooked the books, those books are used by all climatologists, and so any of the conclusions by all climatologists mean nothing.
Unfortunately, there are too many busybodies who would rather control our every movement than allow us to proceed in making our own decisions as free people. They will continue to argue there is AGW irrespective or reality.

So much of the AGW BS relies on those “few scientists” that someone better lock up the originals of the reports that refer to them. Talk about synchronisity. I just ran across “The Copenhagen Diagnosis” the other day on nasa.gov. This morning I found the time to look at it. Its a real piece of work. I am amazed that propaganda like this is presented as science. I was aware that NASA was complicit in proselytising AGW hysteria, having noticed the many fallacious climate studies they have been reporting for the last 10 years. In fact, the reason I was browsing NASA.gov, was to see what they were up to in light of the resent revelations. Were supposed to look to these bozos for science?
As surely as the earth’s climate changes, the political climate in Washington D.C. will change. Those at the heart of these criminal acts will eventually be prosecuted. I would like to see the email traffic between the Dirty Dozens now.
This entire situation is truly pathetic.

6. It is an open question as to whether the U.S. will financially collapse in the next few years, under multiple trillions of dollars of debt. And Obama and Congress seem not only oblivious to this, but actually eager to add another trillion of debt each year, with not the foggiest idea how it can ever be paid back or reduced. This might be an effort to better enact #5 above.
7. The global warming scam, certainly the largest single scam in the history of the world, is almost certainly the method of establishing a permanent, unelected, totalitarian world government. This would be hastened by making Western nations voluntarily and permanently cripple their own economies, and also forcing the transfer of hundreds of billions of dollars per year from the Western nations to everyone else.

I haven’t trusted scientists on either evolution since about ’76 when they admitted their theories were wrong but just added another several billion years to the age of everything in order to make the evolution probabilities less absurd. About that same time they started talking about going back to an agrarian society to avoid causing another Ice Age and I quit trusting them on the environment as well.
As it stands, they’re evolution theory on things that exceed the very definition of statistically absurd. Whether evolution is true or not isn’t the issue for me, it’s whether or not people can claim to be scientists and insist that their theory be the only one taught or even mentioned in a reasonable way when they have no scientific basis that isn’t absurd by any reasonable standard of probability. If they can come up with some theory of evolution that is possible within the known lifetime of the universe then fine, it’s a reasonable theory. The fact that the environmental movement went from totally reasonable to totally irrational within a decade after Earth Day was reason enough to know they were lying and just advancing an agenda on the environmental front whether it’s the “Next Ice Age” hysteria or the current hysteria, just like so many of them are just advancing an agenda when they stick to absurdities about evolution rather than at least try to find a more reasonable basis for their theory.
Once scientists are can get away with picking a theory and demeaning or disposing of everyone who questions it, it’s just a matter of time before they just make up what they like to advance their agenda, whatever that agenda may be.

But the “precautionary” argument is dead from the get-go, because the total “mitigation” possible is so tiny that it’s far smaller than the “error bar” admitted for 1-century projections (in truth, even for 1-year projections, since the real non-linear physics equations are un-solvable). We are already seeing politicians resign (Australia) and countries refuse to sign onerous treaties harmful to their economies and growth (India). My ancestors, the Cherokee, passed down a deep love and respect for the earth. They also gave me a natural skepticism toward anything that seems too good or too bad to be true. My old college geology book said the earth has been warming since the last Ice Age, with seas rising 1/4″/year. Sure, we have global warming, as I remember, it’s been going on for 18000 years, more or less? However, my natural reaction to fearmongering is always, “Show me your proof.”
The radical left-wing scientists who foisted the fear of man-made warming have skewed our priorities. For example, we are being forced to use mercury-containing light bulbs to ‘save the planet’ from warming. We know we need to reduce all pollution, but science’s role has to be limited to facts and truth.
We must demand of our elected representatives a full, impartial investigation into NASA and NOAA ‘science methods’, and open records. The truth must be spread; without mainstream media to help, it will be more difficult, but I believe we owe the earth that much.
One other thing my ancestors taught me was the ‘Truth always surfaces, sooner or later’.

That is the case as a rule, but I recall the rigged tests and simulations the Air Force trotted out to prove that the A-10 was both incapable of doing the job it was intended for and not a weapon that improved the Air Force ability to support Army ground forces. Fortunately, the Army and several Congressmen had studies of their own done by impartial groups. They then proceeded to prove exactly how the Air Force had rigged the studies.
So, nothing stays strictly scientific and free of games unless there is sufficient open contention in the field to force the scientific method.

Seems that not only did we survive global warming but the Vikings ate grapes and drank wine! The Warmists can then tell me about all the carbon that the, um, what exactly, caused that warming trend. And, what caused the little ice age that followed? The climate has been changing throughout history, it will continue to change. Since humanity survives on this planet from the tropics to the arctic I have great faith that whatever the climate does, we will survive.

Here are two really interesting links about how much bigger the fraud is than is even being reported on non-liberal web sites and blogs (i.e., bigger than just the e-mails that expose their phony “peer review” process and blackballing of skeptical dissenters. The first one primarily focuses on tree ring analysis of temperature variation over the past 1000 years and how the “fakesters” cherry picked the 1 out of the several hundred tree sources from Siberia that seemed to support their “Hockey Stick” gimmick (only one outlier supported their fakery so they picked it and refused to disclose the raw data probably knowing it would show what a bunch of frauds they were). The second one talks about how the “fakesters” tried to hide the Medieval Warming Period (MWP) since it is believed (and supported by data) that the temperatures in the MWP exceeded notably any of the recent faked high temperatures (i.e., faked by using temperature measuring devices located close to man made artificial heat sources like exhaust vents or concrete / asphalt surfaces, etc.. Discounting the MWP by starting their analysis at 1000 AD (instead of earlier) allowed them show some incline in temperature via clever averaging. This method makes it look like temperatures were always low and then increased in the recent past century due to evil capitalist destruction of the earth.

Also, how tree rings from the past 20 years seem to show a definite decline in temperature instead of the inclide as depicted in the faked “Hockey Stick”. Thus, these esteemed professionals used tree rings data when it supported their “theory” but then easily discarded it when it refuted their “theory”.
I know we’re too late since 2500 scientists overwhelmingly concur that their faked science is settled. So we should give up and start sending our paychecks to the socialist parasite leaders at the UN.
I do not pretend to understand the complexities of climate science, but CO2 doesn’t seem half as bad as Mercury and other heavy metals, sulpher dioxide, methane or any number of other industrial waste humans dump into the environment every day. It is, however, disturbing that the carbon trading agenda is supported by experts who fudged data in their own studies in order to support a preconceived bias.
This is the essence of bad science and would not be the first time that political pressure was used to warp conclusions of published studies.
Perhaps the anthropogenic theory attempting to explain climate change is a cover story meant to curtail fossil fuel use at a time of world net energy depletion. Admitting to an inevitable decline in affordable and available energy would destroy capital markets dependent on unending growth.
The fact remains that every year, existing oil fields are in steady production decline in the range of 6-8%. Only a fraction of that loss is expected to be brought on line from new projects in any given year. Total BTU’s available to do the work of industrialized nations is in decline.
It matters not how much oil is in the ground, under the sea or bound to shale and sand. It only matters that the oil glutton that is modern industrialized society needs to be fed and China and India are getting more demanding every day. Exponentially so.

The preposterous claim that human-produced carbon dioxide will broil the Earth, melt the ice caps, and destroy human life, came out of a 1975 conference in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, organized by the influential anthropologist Margaret Mead, president of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), in 1974.
