Climategate: Obama’s National Climate Disservice
The sea level change graph? It only represents measured sea level change at the Battery in New York City. Moreover, it fails to indicate whether sea level is rising, or whether New York City is sinking.
While the Arctic sea ice graph dramatizes the increasing summer melt, NOAA omits showing the increase in Antarctic sea ice that has resulted in an overall increase in net global sea ice.
With the information that NOAA presents, the only thing that you can plan on is being confused, misinformed, and frustrated.
The real purpose of the NCS, of course, has nothing to do with education. It has everything to do with the politicization of the natural process of climate change for the unnatural ends of egomaniacal profiteers like Al Gore, and international socialists who want to use greenhouse gas regulation as a means of imposing their political agendas.
The NCS will be led by NOAA’s Thomas Karl, a prominent global warming alarmist. He will report to Jane Lubchenco, another longtime climate chicken little. NOAA’s media release features endorsements from Obama energy/environment czar — and former Socialist International official — Carol Browner, as well as from Duke Energy CEO Jim Rogers. Rogers not only lobbied for the Waxman-Markey cap-and-trade bill, but he admits to tackling climate change at the behest of his grade school-aged grandchildren.
It’s pretty obvious that the NCS and Climate.gov intend to reinflate Al Gore’s “the planet has a fever” theme, in the wake of the Senate death of cap and trade, Climategate, glaciergate, rainforestgate, the failed Copenhagen conference, the exposure of IPCC chief Rajendra Pachauri’s financial conflicts of interest, and other recent events that have derailed the alarmist freight train.
If NCS wants to present useful information to the public and decisionmakers, it might try showing the change in the political climate for global warming alarmism. A photo of a falling rock would probably be sufficient.
That Obama and the other people mentioned in this piece have the unmitigated gall to continue trying to push the Global Warming scam this soon after Climate Gate broke, either shows their immeasurably huge arrogance, or that they are completely out of touch with the world outside of their hard left bubble.
Either way, this will soon become yet another of Obama’s many roundly-rejected screw ups.
If anyone has a simple and concise theory of the behavior of CO2 molecules in the atmosphere, I would really like to see it. Best as I can figure, climate scientists assume that CO2 molecules take in infra-red waves reflected from Earth and then emit infra-red waves in random directions. And the CO2 molecules are distributed randomly throughout the atmosphere. To me, those assumptions are not the work of empirical scientists but rather of “a priori” thinkers. In addition, these climate scientists seem to believe that the one CO2 monitoring station at Mauna Loa is all that is needed. According to these folk, at CO2 molecule at the elevation of one meter has exactly the same characteristics, regarding global warming, as a CO2 molecule at 50,000 meters. So, again, if anyone has an actual theory of their behavior I would greatly appreciate seeing it.
As I predicted, The One is “doubling down” his bad bet on AGW, just as he does on everything else.
What is especially worrisome here is that NOAA’s weather-prognostication computer runs will still be based on the AGW model. This means that if the data from actual field stations “conflicts” with the model, there’s at least a 50-50 chance that the computer will conclude the data is spurious, and run diagnostics on the stations, or on itself. That, is, go into “reset” mode.
Which means that if the field stations are showing the development of a potential tornado funnel in Kansas, while the AGW model states that it’s not possible at that place and time, the local populace’s first notification of a funnel cloud will be when someone actually sees it and dials 911. At which point it will be just a little late for all concerned.
Commoner’s Law states that “Actions have consequences”. The hallmark of this benighted administration seems to be, “As long as we don’t get hit with them ourselves, who cares?”

The Climate.gov site is just one more attempt to use government funds to substitute warmista doom-shouting for real science. Fortunately, the East Anglia CRU document leak, the constantly increasing hysteria among warmista spokesmen, and the ongoing revelation of warmista willingness to bully, harass, intimidate, and slander serious opponents of their thesis have predisposed the public to reject them and their contentions.

if there was an honest discussion about climate and the human involvement this would just be a foot note in a criminal prosecution trial for fraud.
I, for one, will be glad when adults finally hold the reins of government in Washington instead of intellectual adolescents. When we finally do, we can stop wasting our time, effort and tax dollars on this now-disproven “theory” and start reversing the laws and regulations that have strangled our productivity for far too long.
We need more energy as our population increases. We need more nuclear power plants and oil refineries. We need to tap our own natural resources and stop the insane policies of radical leftists whose true goal is the destruction of our economy and country. We need to start today.
Duke Energy has been on my radar since the fabricated California Energy Crisis. Call it Crony Capitalism or rent seeking, its all Fascism to me. Duke is a very sleazy organization. I am always amazed when the barking moonbats accuse every real climate scientist as being an energy company lackey, when the energy companies are in reality funneling money into propagating the AGW myth.

One thing we should all be able to agree about is that we are living in a “Warm Period”.
I would argue that it is still not warm enough. In Europe our climate remains cooler than it was during the Roman and Medieval Warm Periods.
Why would any sane person advocate a colder climate?
Do we seriously want to revert to the well documented Little Ice Age that only 350 years ago brought expanding glaciers, numerous famines and the Black Death?
At the end of the day, I do not think this will matter with regard to the alarmists claims. Anything produced by them will be subject to open scrutiny because of their lack of credibility. 2009 was a watershed year for the public regarding this issue.
It still amazes me that the devotees of the cult of Al Gore will still blather on about global warming even as they are freezing. The Al Gore cult is pervasive among the educators and yuppie classes in the New American State of Obama. These people cannot think clearly and need to demonize other people; videlicet, Sarah Palin etc. They are so anti intellectual that they refuse to even listen to a bona fide scientist who disagrees with Baptist seminary drop out Gore. Apparently Gore the non scientist knows all there needs to know about global warming; end of discussion.
It is becoming sadly predictable. The Obama administration will go to great lengths to institutionalize ignorance and failure. We don’t have a government we have a circus populated by thousands of clowns.
The issue isn’t whether the planet is warming, the issue is whether it is warming or “climate changing”…and we can do anything about it, or are a primary source of global weather.
The problem with the alarmists, who have this “disaster tic” that produces periodic spasms of catastrophobia, which devolves into a manic, panic and Satanic ritual dance of the End of the Worlders.
The latest, this Weather Y2k, is but the latest in a long line of Fad Fatalisms, which…by the way…always seem to wind up in the same place…with their hands in our pockets.
The tipping point is not whether sun flares or earth’s orbiting patterns are influencing climate, or whether water vapor is more dangerous than clean coal. It’s the tyranny of arrogance that allows some of these people to believe that they can “announce” that the matter is “settled”, because they…and only they…have weighed in on it.
And…that they can bury the story with the complicit media, at their whim. That’s where the battleground is…and should be.
Hold on! We all know that legislation has only one frontier that it has not conquered!

Yep, I recall Chicago having a hellish hot Summer 10 or so years ago. This past Summer? The coolest in 45 years. Record snowfalls this season as well. Largest daily snowfall total yesterday in Chicago breaking a 110 year record. You know what that’s called? WEATHER!
That ClimateWatch magazine, which is an official NOAA publication is ludicrous. Check out the article on sea levels in Rhode Island, where they managed to go from 6″/century to a policy recommendation of 3-5 feet, phony photoshopped pictures a la AIT and all.

For what it is worth dept.As one who has done a lot of sailing from L.I.Sound to the Canadian Border I can attest to the value of NOAA marine forecasts.We always check NOAA and then check the forecasts from local radio stations.Usually the local stations are much more accurate.NOAA`s forecasts have such a wide range of wind speeds as to be almost useless.I believe they are protecting themselves from litigation by forecasting the most dire conditions.NOAA has very little credibility with me and most of the people I have sailed with.

I love it, specifically speaking I’m looking at climate.gov’s historic carbon dioxide ppm levels, and interestingly they start at 1959 and only show an upwards curve. But if you go searching for historic levels of CO2 you find higher levels before 1959. Which isn’t mentioned anywhere on NOAA site, it’s just the shocking upward curve. In fact looking at this chart (http://www.canadafreepress.com/index.php/article/6855) it seems that 1959 was the lowest point before the gradual uptick in CO2 levels. Data is great but when it’s presented with no context or disclaimers it does the people a great disservice – and the governments actual agenda. Of course the sheeple and lemminzens will eat it up…

The proper term for conservatives who love our country and would like to see it run the way outlined in our Constitution is “Tea Partier” in reference to the patriots responsible for the Boston Tea Party. When you get to fifth grade, you may hear of it in history class. Then again, with the lib teachers, maybe not.
Fortunately in the November elections sane people who either refused to vote in the 2008 election will now do so and those that see that the choice they made in 2008 was indeed a very poor choice and will make the correct choice in choosing people with sane minds and put an end to the insane policies of this administration and congress (which has a 20% approval rating)!
