Why does it seem that it is liberal Jews who are doing most of this? Are they lobbying for any future SonnerKomando positions, and are trying to curry favor with those who seek to exterminate them?

If you read the letter Ahmadinejad sent to Bush, then you can see they are nearly identical in their religious fanaticism. Let's tax Religion.

"in 2006, Chomsky made a pilgrimage to Hezbollahland to visit with Iran's Lebanese proxy-terrorists and get a guided VIP tour (video). There he was quoted as praising Nasrallah for serving as an effective armed deterrent..."

Chomsky is Jewish, right ?

Does he just blow by stuff Hassan Nasrallah "believes" in his unbending determination to wipe out the Jewish state ?

http://www.israel.org/MFA/MFAArchive/2000_2009/2000/4/Excerpts%20from%20Speech%20by%20Hizbullah%20Secretary-Genera

Yes, Noam has grown rich propagating his convoluted version of the world.

It's tough to give up such a profitable shtick.

If this were sometime in 1930-1953 I have no doubt Chomski would be lecturing us on the benevolence of Stalin.

I think that Chomski merely childishly delights in the role of outsider. Having observed that many of histories great thinkers have been opposed to many aspects of their own societies, he has leapt to the fallacious conclusion that being opposed to ones own society makes one a great thinker.

He has forgotten that the evil and destructive are also commonly opposed to aspects of their own societies and that they are far, far more common than great thinkers.

You argument for the venality of these people is strong. Your argument for their evil actions being funded by taxpayer dollars sucks.

Try again.

CU Alum, did you read the article? I quote:

You'll have to forgive us plebeians for believing plausible Iranian propaganda about visiting American scholars eager to curry favor and flagellate themselves on bended knee for the pleasure of a millennialist terror master. It's just that sometimes the actual behavior of Western scholars is indistinguishable from cheap Iranian propaganda. In fact, sometimes it's worse.

If I were writing this I would have explicitly acknowledged the hoax, but it reads more like an inadvertent omission springing from hack-n-slash editing than something else. After all, there are all the references to a hoax exposed elsewhere, just not the expose itself. Not an agenda problem, but an error.

The report of Columbia professors going to Tehran was revealed as a hoax just days after it came out; after all, how could professors "officially" apologize for the actions of the president without the university's blessing? Yet this story -- written about 6 weeks later -- says nothing about that development. Could it be that the author put his agenda before accuracy?

The irony here about the academic apologists for terrorists is that one the one hand, they brush off and dismiss the myriad of violations of civil rights and human rights that the terrorists commit. When it comes to the US, to Dubya, etc. they are hyper-vigilant in denouncing the tiniest actual or perceived miscue. Double standards, to the nth!
