And for the record, invoking function-talk only works if you can capture the function in an equation. But if you could do that, there would be no global warming debate. If you don't know how the function proceeds, you can't assume that it's just a regular old boring wave. So that sort of argument amounts to a "data-bomb": a pile of true but irrelevant facts intended to support a conclusion that it cannot.
