I think Fred is running only because a bunch of us asked him to, several months ago.

He's an intelligent, perceptive man. He knows what a huge task that being the President has to be, and he quite resonably would rather do anything else but take that on. But, like other patriots in other times, he is honoring the requests of his countrymen and the call to duty.

I'd rather have a reluctant Washington than an eager (fill in the blank with your pick as the worst serving president ever). (mine is Jimmy Carter)

Fred is the first candidate that I ever felt strongly enough about to donate my hard-earned money. I know he'll make a great president! There isn't anyone else out there who has been as consistent on views and stances as he has been- from EITHER party. I am sitting here, late at night, finishing paperwork (taking a break for a few to read and post) so that I can have some free time to devote to doing something for his campaign. I already have his website plastered across the rear window of my car (and I LOVE my car and keep it immaculate, so that's a biggie for me) in hopes that I can turn even one head his way.

To those who say he is lazy, he is not; he has one of the busiest schedules out there. To those who say he doesn't really want it, well why would he take his Christmas holiday time away from celebrating with all of his family and friends to do this for us, the American people? I find him refreshing, honest, trustworthy, consistent, intelligent, and the one and only true conservative out there.

GO FRED!

Since nobody has bothered to point this out...Fred DIDN'T "resort to glittering generalities." He replied that he would lower subsidies on American farmers and fund programs focused towards soil/land conservation. What more does she want from a GIGO question like that?

Entitlement programs for individual special interest groups (e.g. "the farmers of Bremer County") isn't in the job description of President of the United States.

Any candidate that panders to whichever audience he/she is addressing at the moment (promising the sun, the moon and the stars)...should be avoided on general principles.

(which covers most of the candidates, near as I can tell)

The more I see and hear of Fred, the more I understand that he is probably the only candidate who genuinely understands and appreciates the job of President under the US Constitution and the limitations on the power of the federal government under the Constitution.

Selecting a President isn't choosing a rock star or a king, despite the 2 year long (even longer) relentless hype to which we the people are depressingly subjected in these times.

Remember our first President, George Washington, came reluctantly to the job as service to his country.

"When I asked him specifically what he would do as prez for farmers in Bremer County, he resorted to glittering generalities." Reported to be the words of Ms. Dimitrova. May I answer for Mr. Thompson? No, I shouldn't? I'll do it anyway.

My dear Ms Dimitrova, I will do the best for them that is possible under our way of government. I will leave them alone to practice their honorable trade and do whatever I can do to see that the rest of those in government begin doing likewise.

Roger Simon has apparently lost any inhibition of being caught in spinning against Fred Thompson...what's this fable he wrote his third or fourth? Simon is usually much more cautious but, I guess the new surge in people of Iowa are learning about Fred which has Simon worried all over again...he should be worried.

Check out for yourself about Fred at his website or Fredipedia (single page stuffed with links all about Fred);

You can also see some surprising stuff on the other candidates here;

Hard to imagine why a reporter who asks such pitiful questions feels qualified to judge his fitness for campaigning, or even to judge his answers.

If you want to see some unusual bias on the part of the media, go over and read Carl Cameron's blogs at Foxnews. Literally every single one is pro-Huckabee and anti-Romney.
