A question that wasn't asked: Is this administration planning to do something that will cause the people to rise up? For example, will Obama refuse to leave office when his term is up and will the DOJ back him?

A gutted Lois Lerner fastened to the White House gates would send a compelling message. Just sayin!

It's not that Power corrupts so much (though it does) it's that corruption empowers.

Those willing to do whatever it takes--including that of seeming like just the guy you'd like to have a beer with!--regardless of the reality of their self-aggrandizing agenda, is the one who has the advantage in gaining power over a man of integrity.

This is what's been called, "the logic of political survival". A form of the prisoner's dilemma. History shows, methinks, that it is fairly unavoidable.

Which is why our founder's in their wisdom sought to put limits on power accumulation. Yet, I have to wonder whether the negative aspects of human nature will always win out over any plan to keep it in check.

Regrettably then:

'Occasionally the tree of Liberty must be watered with the blood of Patriots and Tyrants.' -Thomas Jefferson

p.s. Dear NSA, I don't necessarily endorse Jefferson literally.
