Podhoretz: ‘America the Ugly’
Balloon Juice: “Podhoretz almost certainly hangs out with the same group of ultra-hardliners whom he has known since the sixties, so he might just not realize that his diatribe accomplishes exactly the opposite of what it intends.”
Classical Values: “This is a war against the Enlightenment. If you don’t think so, just take another look at some of the Dark Age gibberish being sputtered by the people who attacked and who are willing to lay down their lives to bring back the 7th Century.”
Powerline: “I think it’s fair to say that the emphasis on the book is on ‘the war of ideas [9/11] has provoked at home.’”
Fausta’s blog: “Islamofacists and Leftists alike despise the benefits of freedom and prosperity.”
Daily Kos: “If only General Petraeus had gotten his degree from Yale instead of Princeton, he could have told the Representatives on Capitol Hill Monday that the Sunn’i, Shi’a and Kurds will be sitting down to tea in Appomattox just a few months from now.”

It’s notable that neither Balloon Juice or Kos can address Podhoretz’ thesis, choosing rather to attack him.
Obviously, Podhoretz’ point is proven correct with their responses.
I would only take issue with one thing he said: For a day or two following the 9/11 attacks, the politics of the left were actually *not* blatantly scornful of all things American (the concept of patriotism, the flag, American pride, etc.). For a day or two, we were all Americans first. So yeah, it has changed, but only from the shamefully brief intermission from the usual irrational rage-filled leftism.
Poderbuddy is a PNAC neocon. He Wanted a new Pearl Harbor. He wanted to go into Iraq for oil.
Believe me WTC7 fell like a classic implosion, and the towers fell with implosions from the top down, which NIST said was impossible. That was a lie, a coverup.
No I won’t believe your lunatic fringe mutant insanity about the WTC imploding. You belong on another planet called insane conspirator. Mr. Podhoretz is lucid and correct in his logic. Your brain, Mr. Anderson, is what has imploded in on itself and left you with a tangled pile of disconnected neurons.
