Are we to undersand that all Americans are to have only rfanch houses and not aspire to bigger and better, as the free mnarket allows?

After all, this home, based in part on inheritance (you don't believe in that?) is also used as offices for the Gore career.

How much juice does the Gatges home use? How much electricity used yearly on all the homes owned by the Bush family? Bill Gates?

this is, finally a very cheap shot at a wealthy guy who made a documentary you either like or dislike...

We happen (thank the good Lord) to live in a society where you can both inherit and make money, and what you choose to do with it should be your concern alone unless it impinges upon the public good. Now if Gore uses too much, can yhou set a limit for ALL Americans? Or do you single out special ones based on...what, exactly? If you want to label Gore a hypocrite, ok, but then, there are many in both parties that fit this bill too. Why compare a wealthy guy to the American average. How much, finally, do you use? How is your gas mileage? and on and on

A lean and mean Al Gore, living a green lifestyle in a passive solar home heated and cooled by some geo-thermal hardware...would be a much more credible spokesperson for global warming (the need for sustainable energy sources etc.) That said, hasn't the internet become a great tool for energizing a new wave of Real Reform powered by
Clean Election Laws and a fire-in-the-belly Media ready to play watchdog rather than lap-dog. Let's All Take Back America. Glenn McCurdy

Let me first say that I am all about being a good steward of the earth, I believe in it, and I practice it.

With that said, let me say that I like to refer to "Global Warming" as "The Sky Is Falling" syndrome.

There is insufficient data to prove with any statistical significance or reasonable confidence that the "global warming" theory is true. If you don't have sufficient data, how do you know that this "global warming" is not part of the natural variation that occurs?

It's like getting up every morning and noticing that the temperature is rising throughout the day, and saying "we're in trouble, if the temperature continues to rise like this, it will be 150 degrees by the end of the night, and even worse by tomorrow morning", not understanding that this is part of the natural daily cycle. And that's what "global warming" is saying, it is not looking at the larger picture of how the earth's temperatures fluctuate naturally over time. Unfortunately, we don't have enough reliable and accurate historical data on which to rely.

The earth is much more resilient than it is given credit for, just as Don's spot-on post stated. I find it humorous when a natural even occurs and people try to put things back to the way they were. Or when people to try to prevent natural changes in the earth from occurring. The earth changes, and it will continue to do so, and trying to stop those changes will have negative impacts over time.

Unfortunately the first liar to the podium wins. But I will only draw conclusions based on data, not on feelings, assumptions, or on these types of loose theories thought up by nut jobs who don't have a clue, and don't use the brain God gave them.

Peace & MuchLove

Nothing wrong with the Gore life style! It is US that has something wrong with! WE paid for it. The inside information that politicians get make them millions of dollars, always at the expense of the tax payers, but you all knew that didn't you???

Evil Gore lives in a nice house.

NeoSheep will focus on anything but what's in front of them. Gore uses 100% Green Power for his home. This is per the Tennessee Valley Authority.(unless that's some far left enviromental group)

Esther, anyone who actually beleives that microscopic man, who has been around for not even a blink of an eye, can change a planet that most consider BILLIONS of years old is some kind of nut. This rock has made itself over an infinite number of times and will continue to do so once it has shrugged us off as a dog with fleas. Enjoy your time here, leave a little legacy, and stop feeling so guilty about everything we do to survive and thrive.

Someone mention Bush? There was a story posted yesterday about the Bush compound in Crawford. Apparently the designer used native plants requiring little water, strategic shading from trees, recirculating rain and gray water systems and other efficient energy and water processes. Of course he doesn't get an Oscar for being a genuine Texan but I salute his real concern for our State and resources.

Hey! he has big money and he buys a big place and has offices inside the house. How manyg homes does the Bush family own and what is their total bill?Or the mansion owned by Bill Gates? I favor free market and thus a guy has lots of money, he spends it and pays into the economy. If he were a Republican or a Dem who did not make a film that has altered us to environment needs, would you be so tabloidish?

The right of center anti-Democrat Tenn place that posted this nonsense compares Gore bill to national average. Is your own bill "on average" or higher? Should we all have exactly the same square footage in our homes and pay the same amount in utilities bills? Nah., That's socialism, pal. Socialism

It appears from the photographs that this house is "historic," and yes, it is huge, however he didn't participate in the over-the-top materialism and consumerism and have a new "spread" built. We had an historic home in Kansas City, built in 1887, and it was about 2,000 square feet. Because it was so old, a heating bill one month was $600.

It takes years and lots of money to bring an old mansion like this one in Tennessee up to modern standards for energy efficiency. IN MANY CASES, THERE ARE CODES FROM THE NATIONAL HISTORIC SOCIETY LIMITING THE CHANGES THAT CAN BE MADE TO THE OUTSIDE OF THE HOUSE. It also takes years to see what effects what changes will make on energy consumption.

I can't believe how ridiculously bitter and full of sour grapes you all are. It's good that someone is using this old house, and not bull-dozing it for a new development of MacMansions. Although if they did, what would y'all have to complain about?
