Admin to Continue ‘Essential’ Palestinian Aid Despite Next Statehood Bid
“We continue to make clear to the Palestinian Authority leadership at all levels …that we continue to oppose any efforts to advance their cause through the U.N. before they have had a full settlement with Israel,” State Department spokesman Victoria Nuland said Wednesday. “That’s not the right sequence, and it’s not going to lead to peace, it’s not going to lead to two states living side-by-side in security. So that’s the message that we continue to give.”
When pressed on whether funding was at risk, Nuland said, “You know that our Congress has been strong on these issues; we have been pretty strong on these issues. There are a number of legislative things on the books, of which the Palestinians are well aware.”
But yesterday, Nuland was asked at the daily press briefing about the $200 million in budget support that usually arrives at the Palestinian Authority in June. She said that the administration is “still working with the Congress on some of the 2012 money, but the 2011 money did move forward.”
Today, the State Department released a statement confirming that $200 million in direct support to the Palestinians did make it to Ramallah for FY 2011, and they are “working with the Congress to ensure continued U.S. support for the Palestinians, including $200 million in direct budget support this fiscal year (2012).”
“Our view remains that our assistance to the Palestinian people is an essential part of the U.S. commitment to a negotiated two-state solution for Palestinians and Israelis, promoting a comprehensive peace in the Middle East,” Nuland continued in the statement. “It is in the interest not only of the Palestinians, but of Israel and the U.S. as well, to ensure these efforts continue as they help to build a more democratic, stable and secure region.”
The Palestinian Authority has expressed its intention to first be admitted as a non-member observer state at the UN, which needs a simple majority at the General Assembly. By improving PLO chances of joining committees, the Palestinians would press forward with a full statehood bid on an unknown timetable.
The administration threatened to veto Abbas’ bid at the UN last September. The following month, Congress blocked $200 million in aid as a response to the statehood application — aid that was set free by Obama’s order this spring.

Why are we giving anybody, much less “Palestinian” Moslems, $200 million (every year) when we’re broke? Why borrow money at interest for harming ouir own interests? Why not let Germany, Saudi Arabia, Russia or the UK handle the gift? Or, how about the “Palestinians” get their act together and foot their own bills? Would that be radical? They’re right next store to Israel, the best place in all of Dar al-Islam to earn money through value add and hard work.
Israel screwed up big first with the Siani, then with the West Bank and most recently with Gaza. Each was a security breakdown, and exchange of land for nothing but more trouble. A sign of victory for the Moslems, a sign of defeatism from confused Jews. And, amazingly, the same confused people are talking now about giving up the Golan.
I recall reading somewhere recently that Palestinian leaders were enriching themselves from the aid – perhaps one of the readers has a link – and it would not surprise me that little gets through to provide food and medicine and the likes for those caught in the crossfire.
I recall a series of posts by JihadWatch.org a couple of years ago reporting an en masse marriage in East Jerusalem, Rev. Sun Yung Moon-style, with one big difference. It was organized by the pro-Islam organization Hamas. The grooms were men in their twenties; the brides were aged between nine and about fourteen. All the little girls were tarted up with fancy hair-dos and heavy makeup. Yeah, sure this is pedophilia according to civilized law, but it’s a practice fully endorsed by Islamic Law (Sharia). This festive occasion included a $5,000 dowry from Hamas for every newlywed couple. Guess where that money came from.
And, always keen to the needs of their comrades in the Western news entertainment industry, the adult Moslems gave an official excuse in case it was needed: the pubescent girls were stand-ins for the reals wives, who were adult women of legal age but too modest to show their faces in public. But the news entertainers never used that falsehood for cover; they didn’t report the event at all.

I would advocate cutting off any more aid to those intractable people forthwith (and booting the UN off our shores at the same time), but I have a feeling the Palestinian problem will become moot anyway, should the Israelis attack Iran in the next two or three months. I ache for Israel, but I no longer give two shits about the Paleostinians.

No mention of the fact that Obama has no authority to waive the restrictions. Or does he? I have not seen the bill as written, so I do not know. I suspect there is no provision for him to waive it.
By law, which is the U.S. Constitution, the president swears an oath to uphold laws enacted by Congress. But this went out the window some time ago. A law may include discretion in how it is enforced, but this must be enumerated in its text. No law has ever been written with text allowing that the president reverse it by action or by non-enforcement.
The provision allowing him to waive the restrictions is the claim that national security is at stake, which is what he did.
Obama and Biden are both in terrible physical condition. Neither one has had a bowel movement for years. Not in the usually way anyhow.

And that’s the key. The Palestinians don’t really want a state. If they did, the would simply declare independence like the Israelis did decades ago. A people that thinks it is a nation is one. Israel didn’t go to anyone to get permission to become a state.
