Addressing Islam: The Muslim Brotherhood and Democracy
There is one silver lining to the rise of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt: it will eventually force the United States to adopt an international policy on Islam itself. Given his Cairo speech in 2009, littered with historical inaccuracies and undue politically correct praise of Islam, we shouldn’t expect President Obama to take upon himself this task. Perhaps another statesman will. But that it must be done — alas, ten years after 9/11 — is no longer a matter of debate.
The national discourse is petty. Policymakers talk as though the problem were merely 500 terrorists cave-hopping around Waziristan. This is not so. The issue is societal. Europe is on the precipice of cultural implosion. The issue is also imminent. The entire Persian Gulf and Arab Levant is up for grabs. Atomic bombs are in question. Radical Islamists have entrenched themselves in the West’s political mainstream — even into the U.S. government. For decades, the Muslim Brotherhood has had more power within the United States than in Egypt.
Take Abdul Rahman al-Amoudi, a former advisor to President Clinton and the State Department. Amoudi also ingratiated himself to then-Governor George W. Bush. In the months after the 9/11 attacks, Amoudi was one of the Muslim “moderates” championed by the administration. He spoke at the Washington National Cathedral honoring the victims. Three years later, Amoudi was arrested for conspiring to work with al-Qaeda and Moammar Gaddafi of Libya in an assassination attempt on the Saudi king.
There’s Omar Ahmad, founder of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the largest Muslim organization in the United States. CAIR was involved with the Holy Land Foundation, an operation that guised charity funds as subsidies to terrorist groups. And then there’s Nihad Awad, the co-founder of CAIR. Awad is an operative of Hamas and yet served on Vice President Gore’s commission for aviation safety and security — the irony! — and was invited to stand alongside President Bush after 9/11. Ismail Elbarasse worked with Amoudi and was involved with the Holy Land Foundation. He also conspired with Hamas leader Mousa Marzook and the “Virginia Network,” a cell of Pakistani terrorists.
In 2004, Elbarasse was arrested. Documents seized in his basement revealed the Muslim Brotherhood’s archives for the United States. CAIR is a front for the Muslim Brotherhood. The Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) is a front for the Muslim Brotherhood. The North American Islamic Trust (NAIT) is a front for the Muslim Brotherhood. The Muslim Students Association (MSA) is a front for the Muslim Brotherhood. Hamas is the Muslim Brotherhood. And the Muslim Brotherhood spawned Egyptian Islamic Jihad and subsequently al-Qaeda.
These are just a few of the men running the Islamic mosques, schools, campus organizations, and charities in the United States. They are all avowed jihadists and see no distinction between Palestinian “resistance” and al-Qaeda terrorism. The entire apparatus of U.S.-Muslim dialogue is controlled by our enemies. And we have accepted this — so much so that to acknowledge this reality is political suicide.
It’s time to address this. Embassies have been burned, diplomats and newspaper editors have cowered, cartoonists have been hunted down, film directors have been hacked, operas have been canceled, and books have been taken off the shelf. We are losing the Enlightenment out of fear of offending others. Canada is flirting with Islamic law. Europe is allowing “group rights” in unassimilated Muslim ghettos. That is to say, their democratic constitutions do not apply for those who wish to abide by Islamic law. Therefore, the legality of murdering one’s daughter differs depending on what country you originally come from, or your personal convictions about the truths of the universe.
In the United States, there were terrorist attempts on Penn Station, at a military recruitment center in Arkansas, on a federal building in Illinois, against other landmarks in Manhattan, and on a Dallas skyscraper. Then there was the Christmas Day plot against Northwest Airlines Flight 253, which would have killed more than 300 people had the al-Qaeda operative been more competent; the Times Square plot, which would have been worse than the Oklahoma City bombing had the operative been more competent; and the Fort Hood massacre, which could have been avoided had we been less afraid to appear intolerant of intolerance. And all this happened in just the past year and a half. They’re here.
We should distinguish a doctrine from its adherents and respect the world’s Muslims enough to be honest with them. But first, we must be honest with ourselves. They’ll respect that more.
Well, of course, just because people believe in “a religion” whose basic tenet is the imposition of world wide submission to its god is no reason to be impolite.
Radical Islam is a fantasy. Islam is a religion like no other. It is an imperialist, supremacist, totalitarian ideology that seeks to control all aspects of life. Muslims got the U.N. Human Rights Panel to accept that criticism of Islam is blasphemy. The hijackers are the ignoramuses, liars and hypocrites who pretend that Islam is something other than totalitarian. The beliefs of the so-called moderate Muslims, and who knows what they really believe because we can’t have an impolite conversation, are untenable and not grounded in the basic documents of Islam.
What kind of idiots want to put the future of their nation in the hands of so-called moderates who don’t even follow their own religion? When push comes to shove what reason is there to believe that the moderates (people with an irrational belief in the basic goodness of Islam) will not be overwhelmed by the faithful adherents to Islam? And how do you distinguish between a moderate and a faithful follower of that perfect man? Is the moderate a decent person who doesn’t know his own religion or is he practicing taqiyya?

I don’t think that means anything unless BO refuses to say Christianity or Judaism is not “revealed”. What ever he believes, he’ll just say is was a show of respect.

This is the heart of it both here in the United States and in Europe. Because of this stupid “multicultural” fetish that liberals for some reason want to feel guilty about, we are willing to tolerate any behavior on the part of Muslims, no matter how radical or how dangerous. And then, when the situation spins out of control and somebody actually gets killed, as in Ft. Hood, then obviously we are to blame and NOT the person or people who actually did the killing. This is utter nonsense.
We should be hunting down killers and anybody plotting against this nation. Then, once we catch these people, deal with them harshly with long prison terms or, when necessary, the death penalty (as with the Ft. Hood shooter). Attacking this country or plotting against this country should not be tolerated in any way by any religious or political group. Once the world understands that and really believes that, the jihadists may start to understand that there is a point of diminishing returns in attacking this nation.
The entire dialogue is controlled by our enemies? Try, the entire nation is controlled by our enemies: see who occupies the WH.
Question really is: what nation are we talking about? The leftist/atheist/islamist one, or the Conservative one?

Excellent article! It seems all one has to do is observe the Islamic Countries, how their citizens live, listen to what their leaders say, and most important, watch what they do. I certainly do not want to live in a society like that. I am sure even progressives wouldn’t. It’s so obvious, but yet most in the West seem oblivious. I wonder why?

Is it possible for Dr. Zudhi Jasser, or someone like him, to emerge as the head of Islamic leadership here in America? He truly seems like a moderate Muslim, the kind that would place the focus of what change needs to occur squarely where it belongs…. on the Muslim Community itself. Any ideas?
Thanks to Ted Kennedy’s 1965 Immigration Reform Act we have a lot of Muslims here. Many have now been born here and become assimilated to American society well enough to know how to ingratiate themselves and their organizations to our vote hungry politicians—why the foreign born imams get this treatment is a mystery. These people play the part of ‘good’ Muslims while providing cover for their Islamic soul mates to do what they do best. And they think this is a ‘clever’ game?
Despite all that has happened in the last two decades US society has not yet reached the point where it quite understands all of this as unchallengeable conventional wisdom. Average citizens will probably get it long before our politicians do.
I have to disagree with the author’s suggestion that all is lost. We’re acting as though we’ve never been faced with a situation like this before; that is, with a PC protected religion bamboozling politicians and certain segments of society. But in a manner of speaking communism was a religion—although not PC protected, to be sure—and it certainly bamboozled its way around for a time before the light went on and we adjusted to its existential threat, homegrown and abroad. And in time we will adjust appropriately to the Islamist threat from within.
In a lot of ways these Islamic aiders and abettors come off as pretty naïve. They seem particularly oblivious of or have dismissed the bloody-minded aspect of human nature that is in all of us, just below the surface. One also gets the sense that what these people are mainly up to has a lot more to do with exploiting their talents for deception and infiltration as opposed to thinking carefully through the real consequences of their actions.

The communists weren’t the only ones. 150 years ago Mormon zealots were practicing polygamy, beheading apostates and murdering gentiles all in the name of God Almighty!!! Or was that Kolob? The REAL ‘misunderstanders’ are those Muslims who are moderates for while there may be ‘SOME’ Muslims who act in moderation there is no such thing as MODERATE Islam. Contrary to their incessant claims, CAIR is by no means the largest Muslim organization in the US. It’s only a few hundred people, as ‘Muslim Mafia’ details. Obama’s ISNA buddies are the largest. That’s why they get the pulpit at his inauguration and private meetings with John “Siwa” Brennan at NYU. As someone who lives the next town over from their national headquarters, suspiciously located in the middle of nowhere, I’ve gotta say that they are way, way too quiet for us to feel comfortable with them on our shores. Ever heard of Plainfield, Indiana? They like it that way.

The sad thing is , that when I try to talk to people about the islamic problem in America and the rest of the world. These people do not have time to talk about it or they do not believe that islam is evil. They have not read the quran or they believe the regular American media, propaganda machine. Sharia or islam is not a religion, but a totalitarian government. Everyone in America think`s that sharai it can not happen here. Why not? Just ask anyone forced to live under sharia if they would like to be free to make their own choices on their own lives!
In describing the language and meaning of Islam, the author says: “Freedom” is not individual liberty. It is submission to the supernatural. But that actually misstates the case. Islam is not about submission to the supernatural. It is about submission to the dark side, both in the “natural” world (where such things as be-headings take place) and in the “supernatural” world (where 72 Virgins wake up with their hymens intact after being ravished by glorified Islamic true believers). There is no part of Islam that is free of this taint, and tarring the “supernatural” with the taint of Islam is both false and foolish.
Obama didn’t write that Cairo speech but given the insertion of Obama’s weird historical ideas about the mocking bird religion of Islam, one has to wonder how much Obama altered it.

A very straightforward and frankly, long-needed statement of the gravity of the threat, and the willful blindness of our so-called leaders, whose obstinate adherence to their fantasy of a “Religion of Peace” seems impregnable to the facts. They doggedly persist in repeatedly assuring us that the “vast majority” of Muslims are good and loyal citizens, despite the conspicuous absence of concrete evidence of their existence – even the existence of a just a few. Moderate Muslims seem undetectable in our reality, as if they are made of the same substance as the dark matter that cosmologists assure us must be out there, even if no one can find a trace of it.
According to Islamic doctrine, the Qu’ran was dictated to Muhammad by the angel Gabriel, and is the immutable actual word of the muslim god, Allah. Actually, the earthly Qu’ran is only a copy, the original supposedly being securely protected in heaven, inaccessible to any human who might be arrogant enough to try to alter its message or meaning, to question or to analyze it. The behavior and pronouncements of Muhammad as recorded in the ‘hadith’ complete the principles on which Islamic jurisprudence was formulated, a task that was essentially completed 10 centuries ago. Since then, nothing has changed – except 1000 years of world history, everywhere else.
Just as with any religion, some of its adherents are far less diligent than their credo demands, confining their devotion to a subset of principles or to only an hour every week or so. The difference between “moderate” Muslims and casual devotees of other faiths is simple: Bad Muslims are better humans than the devout, and far less likely to kill you. Almost like Sheridan’s Indians: The only good Muslim is a bad Muslim.
Let’s get this out of the way for a start: we should stereotype Islam.
Political Correctness is a pseudo-religion, and like any religion it asserts certain things to be cardinal sins. “Stereotyping” is one of these cardinal sins, and its status as a sin frames our entire national debate (to the extent that you can call this craven pussyfooting around the subject a debate) over Islam.
There is a reason the human brain is wired with the tendency to form stereotypes. Without it, survival is greatly compromised. There are thousands of species of snakes and spiders, and only a small number of them actually pose a danger to humans. But is that how you react to the sudden appearance of a snake or spider? Unless you have a special interest in them and the foreknowledge required to form more meaningful discrimination you will, in the interest of self-preservation, project the negative potential of the dangerous species onto this generic snake or spider in front of you.
I propose that this is the only sensible way for the West to treat Islam and its adherents. Yes, it means that some of those adherents will be unfairly painted with the same brush. This is unfortunate, but necessary. The West, culturally and institutionally, does not possess that necessary foreknowledge or ability to form meaningful distinctions among a foreign belief system that is founded upon radically different assumptions. Presently we pretend otherwise, and in reality this is just a form of inverse stereotyping. Rather than assuming all are dangerous because some are dangerous, we are assuming all are harmless because some are harmless. Both of these propositions are false, but only one of them is an existential danger as policy.
It’s time to stop pretending.

One point: “honor killing” is neither mandated nor permitted under sharia. It is prohibited. Prominent Moslem clerics have denounced it, and Moslem countries treat it as murder – nominally.
Of course the prohibition is not enforced, because even the most solemn commandments of religion are pre-empted by the peculiar cultural imperatives of most Middle Eastern societies, not just Moslems.
“Honor killings” occur among non-Moslems of the region: among Druzes, Sikhs, Hindus, Yezids, even Christians.
An “honor killer” is arrested – and then let off with a token sentence. Clerics say nothing; if they did they’d be told to mind their own business. The Moslem Brotherhood et al say nothing, because they don’t care – their agenda is Islamic supremacy, not actual justice, even by sharia rules.
When the American people realize, there is no such thing as a moderate muslim, they will understand the real threat coming from the muslim religion.
Muslim France, Hispanic America
I don’t want to rip France too much since France did help in our Revolution and President Nicolas Sarkozy did step to the Libyan plate while Barry O. begged permission from the United Nations to do something, anything, about Moammar. Nevertheless, let’s face it, France’s glory days are long gone.
France should serve as an object lesson for America in how to surrender national identity, if not sovereignty, without firing a shot.
World War One began the death rattle of French pretensions to significance, World War Two and Vichy confirmed it, De Gaulle simply refused to accept it.
Ironically, France’s next election may see the populist President Sarkozy losing to either a Jewish socialist or to an extreme rightist, which is ironic because it doesn’t really matter who wins. The French Republic is on an irreversible course to becoming the French Islamic Republic as Muslims gradually undermine the country, institute enclaves of sharia law, and the French are, once again, rolling over and playing dead.
With at least 5% of its population Muslim and very fertile Muslims comprising almost 70% of new immigrants, France accelerated the process of national suicide for practical, economic reasons. They needed bodies to man their factories and staff other positions native Frenchmen felt were beneath their dignity. They invited Muslim immigrants to fill that need, and the immigrants obligingly complied.
Now, like guests who overextend their visits, they not only have full intentions of staying indefinitely but are making little effort to comply with house rules.

Sarkozy has made some indignant noises as to the Muslim threat to the national and European identity of France declaring that efforts at multiculturalism have been “a failure” insofar as its burgeoning, assimilation-rejecting Islamic population was concerned. Both Sarkozy and Cameron were attempting too late to stem an inexorable Islamic tide which they could only forestall at this juncture via restrictive immigration and social policies which have little likelihood of implementation due to Muslim resistance and probable rioting which would dwarf earlier experiences.
Sad to say, France, Britain and other European nations, notably Belgium and the Netherlands, deserve what they’re getting.
France, especially, long ago abnegated any claims to national or cultural integrity when it sold out its heritage for expediency . . .
