Ed – Did you forget that Mr. Baldwin was also the great hero Jayne Cobb of Firefly?

Ed did mention it briefly at the beginning of the interview. Saying that, I miss “Firefly” tremendously. The Fox executive who decided to cancel that wonderful series should receive a lifetime of atomic wedgies as punishment.
Great interview! Good questions, thoughful, interesting answers. Adam Baldwin is a good example for others to follow. Thanks for posting!
Thoughtful is a great way to describe Mr. Baldwin’s responses. What a great interview – I thoroughly enjoyed it!
I have been fortunate enough to have met Adam on many occasions…and I still get a fangurl ‘squee’ moment when I see his name mentioned, especially on conservative blogs!
He’s so genuine, down to earth and an all around great guy.
Suzi
Theres a special space reserved in hell for the leftie idiot who shafted Firefly. Even after all this time, it would fly really well if resurrected
Adam Baldwin was also very good early on in My Bodyguard. Wish they’d brought that flick up.
I agree, Firefly was great as was the movie” Serenity” They made after it was cancelled. All of those actors have gone on to successful new projects.
Adam seems to be a truly good guy and I really like his character on CHUCK.
+1 on My Bodyguard. One of my favorite movies as a kid.
I KNEW I liked this guy. I remember him early on in “My Bodyguard”-one of many, many Chicago based movies. I really enjoy his work on Chuck as well. My college aged kids LOVED Firefly, thought it was a travesty that it was canceled and own the entire series on DVD. He sounds like a great, normal guy.
Adam Baldwin, is a great character in Chuck. While it it is a little bit of a hollywood conservative stereotype, he had a great line last week. Chuck: Casey, you had no choice. Casey: It’s America, Chuck, everybody has a choice.
To discover he really is to the right, well what a bonus.
I don’t really follow him, except knowing him from his brief stint on The X Files. But I’ve read his posts on BH and been impressed with his writing and his thoughts. He seems like a cool guy, and I enjoyed this interview with him.
I think I am the only person in the world who watched DC Cab more than once.
If Mr. Baldwin was ever asked to point to one of his past characters in which people could find a conservative role model, he could easily refer to Albert Hockenberry.
Other than Adam, the movie was pretty lousy; probably because Bill Maher also was in it.
Baldwin was also up for a regular spot on Stargate Atlantis. It would have been a far better show with him instead of Joe Flanigan.
Great interview. I enjoyed hearing about Adam’s early political views. This quote comes to mind. “If you’re not a liberal at twenty you have no heart, if you’re not a conservative at forty you have no brain.” In my opinion Adam has both heart and brain! So happy you are no longer on the dark side.:)
Great interview with a down to earth actor. Very impressed how he and we can look back on what we now know we didn’t know in our impressionable youth. Glad I stumbled upon this. I enjoy Adam’s writing as well.
Animal mother!
Outstanding interview, Ed. The ability to merely ask a great question then GET OUT OF THE WAY is lost on so many in the media today. I’d have loved to hear more of Adam’s take on his Firefly experience, and how he went about interpreting and expressing the character of Jayne Cobb.
I’m convinced that Adam’s conservative conversion was responsible for his ability to create such a memorable character. The old “liberal” and “intellectual moron” Adam Baldwin could never have pulled it off.
Whoever this Fox exec is, she pissed off dark angel fans, too. The first thing she did when hired was cancel cameron’s series 1 month before beginning filming the final season. It ended the series without any resolution after a cliffhanger. It seems like she destroyed everything she touched.
And, oh, yeah, think of Major Malik Nadal Hasan (and all of the other … in the U.S. military who’ve shot their fellow soldiers up and killed them … Say a prayer for these soldiers who were killed and injured. …. As a member of the military, I can say that they are like Hollywood film predator, nemesis and i come in peace where they killer tell story of what energize them to kill which was represented on the movies as an external forces that are invisible.
Can’t wait for the Firefly cast to start popping up in Chuck.
He was also in The Patriot wasn’t he? I really like him as an actor, conservative and a person. I would go see any movie he was in. Thanks Adam for the entertainment, enlightenment and perspective. You Rock!
You can find a very complete list of Adam’s work in film and TV at http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000284/ He has been a very busy actor over the past 30+ years. One very cool character.
The Royals beat the St. Louis Cardinals that year.
