Los Angeles, CA — Today, Roger L. Simon and Lionel Chetwynd, both members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and Oscar nominees, called on the Academy to rescind Al Gore’s Oscar in light of the Climategate revelations.
Simon, also the CEO of PJ Media and PJTV, said the following during his and Chetwynd’s co-hosted Poliwood program on PJTV:
I personally call for the Academy to rescind this Oscar.
[In] the history of the Academy … not to my knowledge has an Oscar ever been rescinded … I think they should rescind this one.
Climategate began on November 19th, when a whistleblower released a series of documents from the University of East Anglia’s Climatic Research Unit. These documents exposed a coordinated effort among climate scientists to distort the facts regarding man-made “Global Warming.”

I always knew Gore was lying. He has always been a power grabber. To the ones that are too young, or just don’t remember, Gore & Tripper tried to censor songwriters in the 80′s. This guy has the personality of a rock. Not only should they take back the Oscar, but he should also be made to give back the money just like Madoff.
Heck, I don’t think Hollywood has ever admitted that maybe, just maybe, crimes that were even worse than blacklisting screenwriters were committed in the USSR. They still love Castro. Why on earth would they ‘fess up when it comes to their warmenist religion?

“An Inconvenient Truth” won two Oscars: Best Achievement in Music Written for Motion Pictures, Original Song, which went to Melissa Etheridge; and Best Documentary, which went to the producer, Davis Guggenheim. Al Gore did not get an Oscar.
George Bernard Shaw won a Nobel Prize for literature and a screenwriting Oscar for the film of “Pygmalion.”

OK, fast forward 14 centuries or so, and Boom! back to the future: Prophet Albert announces the curse of planet fever and a few corollary existential torments, basically the dire wages of our pitiful indulgence in technology capitalism, and the only hope to redeem ourselves is to sacrifice the energy industry, and a couple of things more or less dependent on it, and finally receive the blessings of Greendom, which up to this point had been the exclusive privilege of the butterflies.
But is was not going to be so simple: Suddenly and inexplicably, the stratospheric private conversations among the thermometric alarmists propagate through the Internet to raise the question of whether peer review could accidentally get in the way of the faith of the ICTU (International Cappers & Traders Union)?
So, what if the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences was suddenly to excommunicate the Prophet of Planet Fever for having dabbled in cinematic documentary, itself dabbling in science, in hope of creating enough smoke to make a grand propaganda enterprise look like a glorious call, by rescinding his Oscar? The whole point of cinematographic art and science is to perfect the production of optical (and acoustical) illusion. Where do you draw the line? Sure, fiction can produce pure amusement, but it can also produce propaganda, and everything else in between. Movies can be like drinks: It’s for each of us to draw the line between use and abuse.
Can the movie industry try one more time to glorify its implicit claim of respectability and pretend that it would have denied the Oscar to the Prophet because he was, let’s say, stretching things too far? I have seen the movie once, and that was enough, thank you. The only thing I can recall was the pitiful digital animation portraying the distress of a polar bear inexorably losing the support of a vanishing iceberg. Authentic fakery, the real McDecoy!
So, instead or the Academy rescinding Albert’s Oscar, I would be more inspired to see Lionel Chetwynd and Roger Simon, both men of great talent, being the first two to destroy their Oscars in one of the Los Angeles municipal dumps, with proper lights and cameras, and the most brutal and gory crushing machine available anywhere in the studios, and gushing kudosses will immediately rush at the speed of light to any celebrity ballsy enough to join them in the ceremony. I know, I know, expecting the POTUS to burn his Nobel after that is probably asking for too much… If you don’t know where the fuse is, whatever the circuitry, increase the voltage, and watch for the smoke!
Anyway, Chavez is still waiting for his Nobel, so there is still time to think about it.

Years and years ago both my wife and I could listen to Al Gore for just 10 seconds and KNEW he was a liar. It blows our minds that so many blindly followed this man. Interesting!!?? I was one of the scientists that gave Al Gore a boat load of global warming information for a special White House briefing back in 1997 when he was VP at the Whitehouse. I always thought that Al was like that guy who manned the radar site when the Japanese invaded Pearl Harbor. The difference is that when Al saw the global warming coming on his radar scope, he did not turn the radar off and go home. He has raised the alarm to the whole world, even though he is not a scientist and really does not trully know what the scientists data really means. But you know the “Devel is in the details”. And I for one am very suspicious about the untruths and spin that only serves to scare the whole world when the spin is so inaccurate. Other than that I have never seen Al and his group give us scientists any credits for the data that we gave him. We got a pat on the back, maybe, if we were lucky, and he gets an Oscar and a Nobel prize. Something wrong with that!!! Well I for one am kind of glad to be left in the background rather than be part of the “Big Scare” that is being spun out to the masses. I guess it is kind of morbidly interesting to watch the “nonscientists” misinterpret the data and now apparently self distruct while being caught up in their own self made “spin zone”. Too bad, it did not need to go this way, they should have consulted back with us scientists instead of creating a media empire that fed on itself and not the facts.

But I do have a couple pretty good hard science degree so I can tell the difference between energy and power. I did read through some of the Climategate stuff but I missed the smoking gun parts.
I get my jollies riling up small minds and this place is a treasure trove of them. Everyone here seems to tow the party line of some washed up Hollywood writer who started this site to get back at the ones who snubbed him professionally by playing his uber patriot schtick to you credulous fools.

I never believed this nonsense so the recent discovery of fuzzy science data is no shock to me. Al Gore probably had some good intentions somewhere along the way. That is hard for me to type without laughing but it’s probably true. Anyway, he is just a pawn for the most part, except that he has personally benefited from being the cheerleader. I suspect he wants to find his niche make something useful of himself (sorry, VP doesn’t count when you are a boob all along the way). I say now is his chance- he can give back the money, and confess all, and become a real American hero. But that would only happen on Homer Simpson.

The Academy doesn’t have to take back, demand, or to do anything else to get the Oscar back. Sit-back, it will soon arrive (worse for wear) on their doorstep. Only licensed proctologists to know exactly where polticans get their ideas.
Bet your bottom dollar though that when this scandle really heats up (as everyone knows it will) all bets will off and the finger pointing will begin. For anyone who was involved producing a world acclamed “documentary” and later discovers the data used was tainted or bogas, even to retain ounce of credibility for future film projects the Oscar must be sent packing.
Prediction: copies of the film will eventually become a cultist’s delight, such as “Plan 9 from Outer Space” and “Reefer Madness”.
As for all the money the film earned, forget it, it’s kept in a “Lock Box”.

I’m an Academy member and I was appalled but not surprised that he won the thing. I attempted to debate with one of his key crew the contents of Inconvenient Truth and when he couldn’t respond to the facts of the science he said “I follow my leader’ !! That’s big Al I kid you not. And 95% of the people I work with agree… Hollywood people don’t read science, they follow fashion.
With the possible exception of Barack Obama no one is more deserving of an Oscar for best performance by male actor than Al Gore.
Now that Global Warming has been averted the big problem facing the world is Global Cooling. The issue however requires a great deal of study. Global Cooling will destroy the planet unless people send me tens of millions of dollars.

The Oscar is given to Davis and Davis tells Al Gore, “We want to share this with you.”

When I hear some Hollywoodian talking about political, scientific, social, or international affiar topics, I don’t judge their credibility on whether or not they have received an Oscar. I judge them based on their knowledge of, expertise and understanding of the issue.
Associating the Oscar’s with anything other than the movie making industry is a grave mistake. Most people with any real education and understanding of major issues understands this.
