This is truly a holy war ~ between Almighty God and satan, good versus evil, played out through the Jews and Christians versus the descendants of Cain, Esau and Ishmael. It makes absolutely no sense when one attempts to apply logic to it: Israel is so tiny, it merits no worldwide attention, Jerusalem is not Islam's worship capital, "Palestinians" are a figment of the media's making and what possible benefit could be derived from "pushing Israel into the sea?" It only makes sense biblically and spiritually. satan hates God and God's people with a fanatacism similar to that of people who strap explosives to their children in the name of their demonic religion. He tried to prevent Christ's first coming by influencing Herod to kill the Jewish baby boys, and now he's doing the same with His second coming. How it infuriates him that God always brings victory to little Israel in time of war!

Jesus said the world is divided into two camps: those who belong to Him and those who belong to satan. As His return rapidly approaches, I pray that all who read my words have accepted Jesus as Savior or will. He said in John 3:3, "Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God," and "I am the way, the truth and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me." John 14:6 Just realize you're a sinner, (because you've broken the 10 Commandments over and over and over) be genuinely sorry for those you've hurt with your sin, resolve to endeavor to stop sinning from now on then pray that Jesus would take over as Lord of your life. Tell Him you believe He died and rose again and that you're trusting Him to take you to heaven when you die. When you've done that, you'll be born again! After you start reading your Bible, you'll suddenly understand why most of the world hates Israel for absolutely no reason...

Ruvy,
Glad to meet you. There were times on this blog that I felt alone except for Marie Claude who kept encouraging me. You're right sometimes the truth is distasteful and hard to take. At least we don't deny it, or lie about it.

As for the word Palestinian, I met a bunch of them when I was a kid. They were all Jewish. Palestinian was the generic name for anyone who came from that region. It was adopted after the 67' war by the Arabs to distinguish themselves from other Arabs. They in fact created a new national identity which never existed. Before that the regional people, depending on where they lived, were Egyptian, Syrian, Lebanese, or Jordanian. Only the Jews were Palestinians.

Oscar,

Nice to make your acquaintance. I'm that guy from comment #30 who wants Mr. Hornik to stop using destructive (to us) terms like "Palestinian" in his articles about resident Arabs in the Land of Israel.

My quals to open my mouth? I'm a student of history, have helped edit books like The Legal Foundations of the Borders of Israel Under International Law, by Howard Grief (Mazo Publishing). I live in Samaria and know what it is like to await attack from Arab countries because my leaders haven't the guts to strike first.

You think you're a grump? You're as sweet as a church mouse compared to me. Living under this gutless traitor and cheat Netanyahu is enough to make anyone far worse than a grump - or even a grouch.

The only reason I put all that down is so that you see my bona-fides - I don't fall for the baloney of the "post-Zionist" historians - even though I will quote one here. Milly (comment #34) is mostly spouting Arab lies, garbage made up by Arab propagandists.

But in one place, she did not lie. This is from Wikiquote.

Regarding the Galilee, Mr. [Moshe] Sharett already told you that about 100,000 Arabs still now live in the pocket of Galilee. Let us assume that a war breaks out. Then we will be able to cleanse the entire area of Central Galilee, including all its refugees, in one stroke. In this context let me mention some mediators who offered to give us the Galilee without war. What they meant was the populated Galilee. They didn’t offer us the empty Galilee, which we could have only by means of a war. Therefore if a war is extended to cover the whole of Palestine, our greatest gain will be the Galilee. It is because without any special military effort which might imperil other fronts, only by using the troops already assigned for the task, we could accomplish our aim of cleansing the Galilee.

From a protocol of the Government of Israel, translated from Hebrew by Israel Shahak, in "Truth or Myth about Israel? Read between Quotation Marks" by Charley Reese in The Orlando Sentinel (13 June 1999); later published as "What Israeli Historians Say About 1948 Ethnic Cleansing" in Washington Report on Middle East Affairs (September 1999)

While I do not like the fact, it is still true. It was one of the goals of the 1948-49 War of Independence to rid the Galilee of as many Arabs as possible. It's not something you advertise. But it is still true.

I can afford to lie to people like Milly, who are ignorant and lie themselves. But I cannot afford to lie to myself and then stand before G-d and expect His Mercy.

Oh, Milly... You state, "This Declaration was issued by Great Britain, a foreign power, who had no right to give away someone else’s country."

Don't confuse land sovereignty with land ownership. The Arabs did NOT have sovereignty. It's ironic how Palestinians vehemently claim sovereignty over a piece of land which they've never governed. The Ottomans ruled over the land for centuries, until they transferred sovereignty to the British. The British transferred partial sovereignty to the Jews, as since the 1917 Balfour Declaration, they had intended to help the Jews re-establish their homeland. Please note this was LONG before the Holocaust.

In terms of land ownership, most of Palestine was owned by wealthy absentee landlords living in Damascus or Cairo, not local Arabs. Arriving Jews didn't steal land, they bought it -often at inflated prices- from these landlords. In his 1978 memoirs, Transjordan's King Abdullah stated, "It is made quite clear to all... that the Arabs are as prodigial in selling their land as they are in useless wailing and weeping." Local Arabs lived in the more fertile West Bank, leaving the Jews to purchase land along the marshy, malaria-infested coastal plain. That's why Jews ended up living there.

Your Ben-Gurion quote is a fabrication. It's been attributed not only to Ben-Gurion, but to Israeli Northern District Commissioner Israel Koening (see http://www.honestreporting.co.uk/articles/critiques/Sourcing_Quotes_the__Pilger_Way.asp ). Instead of parroting off what the rabid anti-Israel crowd says, find a more balanced source. Try this: http://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/David_Ben-Gurion , with quotes like: "Under no circumstances must we touch land belonging to fellahs or worked by them. Only if a fellah leaves his place of settlement, should we offer to buy his land, at an appropriate price."

It's ignorant and naive to state "The persecution of the Jews in Europe cannot rationally be used to justify ... to create a homeland in the Middle East..." You're simply weaving the typical Left-wing narrative of how Israel was created out of post-Holocaust guilt, nothing to do with diaspora Jews yearning for centuries to return to their rightful homeland. You ignore the fact that A) Jews have kept an uninterrupted presence in "Palestine" for thousands of years, and B) about 40% of Jewish immigrants to Israel come from ARAB lands, mostly between 1948-1952, but, starting as far back as the Jewish migration from Yemen in the 1880's.

You claim Arabs were persecuted by the Jews, but it was the Arabs who rose up in revolt against the Jews in the 1920's and 30's. Even before WWII, it was obvious that the growing Jewish and Arab populations in Palestine would be ungovernable under one state, so the British decided to partition their Palestine Mandate to create a homeland for each. The Arabs rejected the offer of partial sovereignty, as they still do to this day. The Jews accepted it, as their agenda has always been simply to have a homeland, as do the Armenians, the Turks, and many other ethnic groups. It is curious to see how Muslims vociferously rejected the British partitioning of Palestine, but none opposed the British partitioning of India -to create Muslim Pakistan.

What was the Arab reaction to the UN's partition plan to create a Jewish homeland?

"If the Jewish State becomes a fact [the Arabs] will drive the Jews who live in their midst into the sea." Hassan al Banna, founder of the Musliim Brotherhood, 1948

"'This will be a war of extermination and a momentous massacre which will be spoken of like the Mongolian massacres and the Crusades." -Azzam Pasha, Arab League Secretary, 1948

"Arabs, arise as one man and fight for your sacred rights. Kill Jews wherever you find them. This pleases God, history, and religion. This saves your honor. God is with you." Amin al-Husayni, Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, 1947, the same Mufti who had conferred with Hitler, showing interest on how to export the Jewish "Final Solution" to Palestine.

So who persecuted who?

And "selective UN resolution amnesia" works both ways. For you cannot beat your chest that UN Resolution 242 must be implemented, while ignoring Resolution 181. BTW, R242, besides calling for Israel's withdrawal from Gaza/WB, calls for "...acknowledgment of the sovereignty, territorial integrity and political independence of every State in the area and their right to live in peace within secure and recognized boundaries free from threats or acts of force." When many Palestinians (e.g. Hamas) won't even recognize the existence of Israel, and nations like Lebanon and Syria are still technically at war with Israel, it's hard to argue that the Arabs are doing their best to comply with R242 as well...

Lay off the Left-wing kool-aid and find yourself a less biased source.

There is a concept when dealing with the moslem mentality and it is called Kubbar. Essentially it means that anyone who is not a moslem may be attacked, robbed, enslaved, or even murdered at the moslem's whim. Basically it states that anyone who is not a moslem is property and may be taken by a moslem. That and fact that is alright to kill in order to spread the religion; and, that it is not just alright to lie but it is required to gain the advantage over your nonmoslem adversary. This just makes me want to pal up with all the moslems of the world.

re. no 34's Ben-Gurion "quote"-Google the quote and see what CAMERA says about it. Those who hate Israel and want to destroy it are rampant and active. Devote a little of your life to fighting against them and helping Israel survive.
