A Day with his Pals: Kerry Coasts Through Nomination Hearing
Sen. John Kerry’s (D-Mass.) hearing today for his nomination to be the next secretary of State was interrupted by a screaming Code Pink protester, who gave a rather lengthy antiwar tirade before being escorted from the room.
“You’re killing thousands of people!” she yelled. “The Middle East is not a threat to us! When is it going to be enough? When are enough people going to be killed? I’m tired of my friends in the Middle East dying! I don’t know if they’re going to be alive the next day!”
Instead of simply carrying on with his opening statement, Kerry took a moment to sympathize with the protester, alluding to his own antiwar demonstration days.
“When I first came to Washington and testified, I obviously was testifying as part of a group of people who came here to have their voices heard. And that is above all what this place is about,” he said. “So I respect — I think the woman who was voicing her concerns about that part of the world — and everyone of you have traveled there. Some of you there were recently.”
Kerry’s hearing was not so much a nomination grilling as it was a meeting of old friends seeing off their colleague who sat on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee for 28 years.
Chairman Robert Menendez (D-N.J.), who took the gavel from Kerry after the nomination, even called the Massachusetts Democrat “Mr. Secretary” before correcting himself.
“I thought this could be quick,” Kerry said, laughing and half-standing as if to leave.
Kerry was introduced first by new Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.). “I have the privilege of speaking for a man I know will continue in the tradition of John Quincy Adams, and Christian Herter as great secretaries from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts,” she said. “…I think one day historians will judge his Senate years in terms of his impact on foreign policy, much the same way so many recognize Senator Ted Kennedy’s impact on domestic policy.”
Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who appeared before the panel yesterday on Benghazi, said Kerry asked her to come and drop in a good word for her.
“He has a view of the world that he has acted on, first as that young returning veteran from Vietnam who appeared before this committee, through the time that he served with such distinction as is chairman,” Clinton said. “He’s been a valued partner to this administration and to me personally.”
Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), at times throughout the years at odds with Kerry, introduced his longtime friend. “We’ve had our disagreements, which is unsurprising, given our political differences. And, as often the case in our business, our friendship has been affected from time to time by our enthusiasm for our differing views and by the competitive nature of politics,” he said.
“But the friendship has endured, I believe it is based in mutual respect. Some observers have attributed that respect to the fact that when we were much younger, nicer and better looking men than we are now, Senator Kerry and I spent some time at the Navy’s behest in a certain southeast Asian country in less pleasant circumstances than we’re accustomed to in the United States Senate.”
With his wife, Teresa Heinz Kerry, brother and Commerce Department counsel Cameron Kerry, and daughter Vanessa seated behind him, the senator quipped about the unusual view from the witness table.
“Suddenly, I am feeling a lot of sympathy for the folks who sit down here. I want you to know that a couple of nights ago I was watching Godfather II. So be forewarned, if someone suddenly shows up with my long lost brother back in the audience, all bets are off, folks,” he said.
“…I will not take it personally that this may be the one item in Washington that seems to unite Democrats and Republicans to get me out of the Senate quickly.”
Kerry fielded some grave if not especially challenging questions, like on Iran’s nuclear program. Menendez is expected to be a tougher Foreign Relations chairman on Iran than Kerry ever was.

It just gets worse, and worse for America. John Kerry is a CFR globalist, and is on board an agenda that is not in the best interest of these United States.
He is for the UN Law of the Sea treaty.
Kerry even made specific mention of the coming New World Order in his intro speech
How evil is Hillary? THIS evil!
John Bolton is the only person I could think of as a good fit for the position.
Mr. Ketchup is as inept as Mrs. Hilton… sorry, HILlary ClinTON.
John Bolton would be very good at any U.S. Government position he may want. But, we Americans seem to be having trouble holding on to such men as these John Bolton’s because they seem to be thwarted by the glacier-like–liberal-mind-set-bureaucratic-inertia already so long entrenched. John Bolton’s pragmatism is unfortunately for us, way, way out of place in our current malaise of government, regardless of how desperately he’s needed. That’s our National Malaise right now.
Hillary yesterday made the customary plea for more money and personnel….good grief!….look at the thousands upon thousand of employees already at State and USAID…ask ourselves what are they accomplishing…exactly what?…where, exactly? Would the Foreign Policy of the United States of America be hindered in any way by the elimination of half of those bureaucrats?…in all of those insignificant third world countries….like Haiti…which no amount of “AID” has helped since their last cyclic disaster. What a waste, all of it nothing but paper shuffling wheel-spinning. All they want is our cash, after that’s been filtered away…. it’s, “Yankee Go Home!”
Now, compounding this asinine situation [albeit inwardly very tragic] that we witnessed yesterday with Hillary losing her cool, throwing up her hands, and asking, “What difference does it make?” as sort of a generic, exasperated female way of addressing awkward explanations of ineptitude by simply flicking aside anything that she considers may be out of order… now, we have as the likely next Secretary of State a man who literally threw his medals in the service of the United States on the steps of the Capitol Building of those same United States. Hurled them away in a fit of anger. Our next Secretary of State?
What on Earth will become of us?
After trashing Susan Rice and aggressively promoting Kerry, the Republican Establishment can do do little but to rubber stamp Kerry, he i part of the club. Neo-con John Bolton? Pfft. Susan Rice would be better.
No, No….you mustn’t say anything like that, you mustn’t be so flippant. I’ve seen a lot of administrations come and go, and I’ve never witnessed the disgusting likes of this faux “administration” which we somehow have managed to put in place by a democratic election, if only by…what is it?…53%…..that’s all it took, dear readers.
We don’t seem to know, or take seriously, the emptiness and “nothingness” of this Obama person….and the risks to our well being he is establishing covertly.
The House of Lords.
yep, no problems there. Now he’s in line for the presidency.
Nobody should hold a little treason against guy. And so what if he shot himself twice to make himself a hero. Doesn’t everybody do that?
Why, yes, weo. What is a little treason among friends?
It is possible to read the minds of the entire Senate on this matter:
“Oh Thank GOD, we can finally get that moron outta here! And look good doin’ it. Win, win.”
Now he can be someone elses embarassment on a daily basis.
Let me check my scoreboard.
I’ve got my pick as President.
The President is packing government with even more extreme leftist than last time, which I wholly approve of.
Thanks to the mainstream media coverage of Newtown, gun control is a done deal. The new law will outlaw everything the right wingers can put in their gun racks except pea shooters and water pistols.
There’s no talk of energy independence; Obama plans to do nothing so gas prices will eventually soar, sending the nation into another tailspin, making more and more dependent on government programs and Obama. Whites slaving at their 9-5 jobs, of course, pay for all this. And they’ll get no relief from their spineless Republican Representaives. The reason is simple.
Republicans have no stomach to fight Obama’s calls for trillion dollar jumps in spending boondoggles that put all the green in black pockets and take it from white families of former slaveholders and northern slave supporters.
White businesses bidding for government jobs are now out of the running thanks to a mandate that never will be made public.
Thousands of new regulations are being written to squeeze even the largest white owned corporations, allowing them to stay in business as long as their contributions to Democrats are sky high. This, of course, is part of Obama’s tacit reparation promise.
The Catholic Church will surrender every abortion related value it ever held because Obama, with the support of the mainstream media, has the church in a choke hold; when push comes to shove, no Bishop wants to go to jail.
On the other hand, Mosques all over America will receive huge tax money from white shell corporations. Sharia law will slowly seep into state laws as Muslims will quickly become the dominant religion in America. Eventually, during the Christmas season, you’ll be seeing more Muslim decorations than Christian ones.
Part of the leftist strategy is to create hundreds of women-oriented organizations that receive funneled ObamaMoney. When one is caught, five more spring up, paid for, naturally, by ObamaInvestments in America.
Hispanic organizations will use this model to obtain tax money in return for the Hispanic vote.
The end game, of course, is a United States that has the power to do nothing but surrender. The Constitution is reformed.
Which forms the basis for national Sharia law.
Why do I explain this to the infidels? Because Obama’s lap dogs on the hill, no not the Democrats, but the Republicans, are very aware of every ObamaObjective. With the changing of the guard in America; the end of white rule, they know they can’t stop the anointed one. They’re content to keep their plum jobs a few more years.
Doubts? Just listen to Mark Rubio question Hillary Clinton about Benghazi. He’s a whipped puppy dog.
Let me check my watch. The war on women is about to start in three and a half more years. If you get my drift.
Birds of a feather flock together!
Swiftboat Veterans Ad on John Kerry – Sellout (2004)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=phqOuEhg9yE
Having lived in Cambridge when JFK was in his anti-war period, he wandered the coffee shops and marijuana cafes and spouted his venom. A liar then, and a liar now. He got away with violating the UCMJ on many occasions and it was overlooked, even when he testified before the traitor Fulbright.
He is no different now than then. He has been distrustful his entire adult life. So, why would we expect him to be any different as SoS? Rush calls him Lurch, but Lurch wasn’t anyone’s patsy.
The UCMJ? Isn’t that what got Allen West cashiered, due to discharging a pistol next to a detainee’s head?

– throw anyone else’s Heinz medals across the table?
Sadly, what’s the alternative? Knock down nominee after nominee?
Sadly, Obama is the one who’s going to do the nominating – at least until he’s impeached. So might as well go with someone who’s character flaws are well known.
Did he even receive one question about his support of Assad as a “reformer”? One question about why he called the butcher Assad “my good friend” after taking a motorcycle ride with him? Is there any opposition party anymore in this country?
Did anyone ask the French looking guy why the Harvard Law School rejected him?
His first wife’s family was big time Boston and the Kennedys backed him, but the most left wing law school in town rejected him. Why?
I don’t understand why any Republican, no matter where on the ideological spectrum, would vote for Kerry as SecState. If voting no is too scary, just vote present or don’t vote. For Pete’s sake.
The USA in the twenty-first century is the place where billionaires are in charge of everything. Kerry, an extremely wealthy man, will be approved by a gathering of very rich people, the Senate, and the modern American State will continue to bully the rest of the world and oppress those unfortunate enough to live within the boreders of Kerry-Obama land.
It blows my mind that a man who was kicked out of the Vietnam War EARLY by his shipmmates because he was such a loser, could become Secretary of State.
