In his interview with 60 Minutes, Barack Obama said he was the “fourth-best president.” I can only presume it was cut—like so many other great stories that have been self-censored by the media—to keep Obama from looking bad.
But those making fun of Obama for his claim have just skimmed the surface. Actually, there is much to be discovered from further examining what he said.
First, Obama showed how he takes the mass media’s total support for granted, something inconceivable for any previous president. He begins:
The issue here is not going be a list of accomplishments. As you said yourself, Steve, you know, I would put our legislative and foreign-policy accomplishments in our first two years against any president …
In other words, Obama is attributing the claim that he’s a great president to the interviewer, Steve Kroft. According to Obama, Kroft has already proclaimed him to be wonderful. Obama is just going along with what the media says.
It has often been remarked that Obama is a narcissist, but what we see here is even worse, a man so closed and arrogant that he cannot take criticism into account. Any democratic leader needs to heed criticism and adjust policies based on experience, the weaknesses pointed out by others, and changing conditions. Obama is incapable of doing so.
Note in Obama’s case how his new “jobs bill” is merely a repeat of the failed stimulus. And similar things can be said about his foreign policy. He does not learn or grow with the office. This is like a ship’s captain being warned there’s a big iceberg ahead yet he keeps bragging that he has set the perfect course.
This theme is reinforced by his saying: “The issue here is not going be a list of accomplishments.” In other words, no one can even dispute that he has had great accomplishments. The science is settled; debate is closed. This also tells us that if Obama gets a second term, he won’t do any better at all.
The end of the quote is also patronizing:
But, you know, but when it comes to the economy, we’ve got a lot more work to do.
Yes, that minor problem of the economy.
But in terms of history, what Obama says has been misinterpreted:
I would put our legislative and foreign-policy accomplishments in our first two years against any president — with the possible exceptions of Johnson, FDR, and Lincoln — just in terms of what we’ve gotten done in modern history.
In passing, let’s note that Obama is one of the most inarticulate of all presidents. He finds it difficult to construct a proper sentence. Take away the hype and his level of expression is on the same level as that of George W. Bush. And that is not meant to be exaggerated. I think it is precisely accurate.
But to be fair to Obama, he was only referring to the first two years of previous presidents. Indeed, during their first two years in office, neither Roosevelt nor Lincoln had any great foreign policy accomplishments at all. And Johnson’s main “accomplishment,” tragically, was the Vietnam War.
So, starting with Lincoln, what presidents had great foreign policy accomplishments in their first two years? Between 1861, when Lincoln took office, and 1941 — with the exception that proves the rule of 1917-1920 — the United States was mostly isolationist and not a great power.
I would say that the president with the greatest foreign policy record in his first two years was Harry Truman, who had to deal with the end of the war with Japan, get the armed forces home, and deal with the political situation at the end of World War Two, the transformation of America into a peacetime great power, and the acceptance of the need to fight the Cold War.
Other top presidents on foreign policy in the first two years would be — in chronological order — Eisenhower, Kennedy (the Cuban missile crisis), Reagan, and George Bush. I’d explain in detail but it would take too much space. Even George W. Bush’s management of the September 11 crisis far exceeds anything Obama did during his first two years.
What has Obama accomplished? He can only claim one thing: to have made America more popular after George W. Bush. There is some truth to this, but it is exaggerated. In fact, while at first there was a popularity effect, it has diminished, and anyway, popularity is not the most important thing in international affairs. The START treaty with Moscow might also be mentioned. Doesn’t add up too much.
Obama has not accomplished anything in Africa, Asia, or South America. U.S.-European relations are friendly — but is this some great accomplishment?
As for the Middle East, Obama has been disastrous. He singlehandedly sabotaged the peace process and has opened the door to anti-American radical regimes.
Can anyone seriously maintain that Obama has achieved a huge amount beyond briefly “restoring” America’s popularity to — though he and his supporters never admit this — the levels it enjoyed under Bill Clinton?
Then there’s domestic policy. And here we must point out an important Obama assumption: he feels a great president is someone who can brag about “what we’ve gotten done” by getting new laws passed. I think Obama genuinely doesn’t understand that having new laws — more spending; more regulation — is not inevitably better.

Pete Seeger sang “The Big Muddy” on the Ed Sullivan Show while Lyndon Johnson was still President, I recall the controversy at the time just prior to its airing. It’s a song with wide applicability, but is best remembered for its ties to the passions of the Vietnam era.
Yes: the “tall man” Seeger was referring to was Lyndon Johnson, who was both physically tall and a Texan. Nixon was neither.
“Waist Deep in the Big Muddy” came out around 1965—long before Johnson had decided not to run, indeed, when he was still riding high from the decisive trouncing he’d given to Goldwater. Nixon was not even on the horizon then. “Big Muddy” was Seeger’s piece to correspond with Tom Paxton’s
Lyndon Johnson told the nation
Have no fear of escalation
I am trying everyone to please
Though it isn’t really war
We’re sending fifty thousand more
To help save Vietnam from Vietnamese
Some despots – Stalin, Kim, Mugabi – combined a mix of egomania and blindness with a wily intelligence, however evil. They have also shown leadership abilities. Obama’s egomania and blindness are combined with stupidity, a truly 3rd rate mind. And he is not a leader: he functions only with strong hands behind the scene, David Axelrod’s puppet. I use “stupidity” advisedly, because to brag at a level of comparing yourself with Lincoln is to reveal yourself as an absurd and insufferably arrogant looney. The whole Chicago cabal that scammed this dim-witted and self-adoring twit have always been aware of his shortcomings and known they cannot stop him. He truly beieves in his own transcendency. That’s why we see Axelrod, who for a long time kept strictly out of sight, now “explaining” on TV, trying to do damage-control. With campaign pressures increasing, there is a high level of possibility that he will say something so totally outrageous and revealing that he will blow his own chances.
Narcissy?
One has to wonder what idiots like Steve Kroft and others in the MSM see in Obama. What would they list as his accomplishments and faults? We seem to have a large segment of society now that is fundamentally unable to be honest with itself.
I think journalists like Steve Kroft are so committed to the liberal ideology that their ideology has become a faith, which no amount of bad results can undermine. If the results are bad, that only means the opposition was too intransigent or the messenger wasn’t good enough to get the message across. For liberals, it cannot be the policy that is at fault.
They are driven towards Obama because he is the anti-Bush, and they project their various liberal utopian visions for the future on Obama and imagine him bringing it to fruition; or at least, starting. It is obvious people were sold on something ethereal. A mystique. A special ignorance. “Change we can believe in”, all that piss.
The plot in an old Ludlum book, I can’t remember which one, involves FBI files on journalists and politicos that are used to blackmail those people. I always thought that was a ridiculous concept, but it is the only plausible explanation that I can think of to explain the way that everybody bends over backwards to kiss the @ss of this petty lying fraud of a president.
And, let’s not leave out mob psychology. A journalist with a groupthink mind fears breaking from the pack and setting himself up for ostracism and charges of racism. It takes objectivity and a willingness to admit to mistakes to declare oneself bamboozled by the hope that electing a black could erase the sins of the long gone past.
Correct me if I’m wrong but didn’t Hilary use FBI files during Bill’s reign, to clobber certain opponents?
It’s called a lack of common sense.
I think the answer is simple why the media joined at the hip of Barack Obama.
Anyone honest and with a little insight quickly recognizes, when the curtain is pulled Obama is a lightweight. Obama is a poor student of history, poorly read and an incredibly shallow thinker. His only real talent is to deliver the prepared speech. Obama is woefully naive. Did Obama really think the magnitude of his personality would win over Iran? Gain the respect of the world?
Obama is an amoral man, most of it probably due to a twisted upbringing of amoral people, and a disinterested sperm donor for father. It explains perfectly why Obama would be drawn to someone like Rev. Wright, until political expediency required abandonment. It would not surprise me in the least that there is still a mentoring connection between Obama and Wright, hidden from public view.
These MSM types? Cut from the same cloth. Shallow, of marginal intelligence, amoral, without critical thought. There’s a fraternity and sorority of a sort, appealing to the same weak character that made Obama in the MSM.
“…a truly 3rd rate mind.”
Barack Obama indeed does possess a third rate mind. The man has benefited greatly from obtaining credentials from Columbia and Harvard. Many Americans are sadly unaware that these Ivy League institutions have often inflated the grades given to American blacks and a number of other minorities. Obama was marginally illiterate while president of the Harvard Law Review. This letter he wrote in 1990 is clear evidence of his mediocre education:
http://thesophic.wordpress.com/2011/08/29/obamas-1990-note-to-the-harvard-law-record-as-someone-who-has-undoubtedly-benefited-from-affirmative-action-programs-during-my-academic-career/
“third rate mind” indeed. As the great sage said, “You have the mind of an idiot – and I bet he wants it back”
Just to be clear, Mr. Thompson, I endorse your comment.
My apologies for any confusion.
The only thing missing from this is the Twilight Zone theme music…add in a voice over from Rod Serling reading this commentary and you’ve completed the bizarreness of this latest egocentric rambling.
Submitted for your approval one, Barack Hussein Obama. For all intents and purposes an ordinary, average, albeit less-than-enthusiastic member of the human race.
Through the years Mr Obama has learned, quite well in fact, that style oversells substance and that almost anyone will believe you if you say something in just the right way.
But what Barry is about to discover is that as much as he thinks of himself, his countenance is as vapid as a Sunday afternoon tea with old maids and as shallow as a kiddy pool left untended on a hot August day. For Mr Obama is about to enter the twilight zone…
Just read this with Serling’s voice in my head & found it quite applicable, almost as if I really heard him say these words. Well done!
Camera cuts to Obama’s bedroom:
He wakes up in a panic and cold sweat. “What am I doing here”?
Michelle: (muffled voice): “what’s wrong, honey?”
Obama: “I keep having the same dream. Over and over again. They’re gonna find out! They’re gonna find out!”
Narrator: Poor Mr Obama. He doesn’t this yet but he’s just woken up … in The Twilight Zone”.
His ego, arrogance, self-centeredness, etc. are all reasons why whoever his opponent is has to attack him. Get him mad, get him pissed, and see what kind of mistakes he will make. When he is frustrated his true colors (no pun intended) come through.
A serious question.
Why did C-BS allow the footage on YouTube?
Are there saner people at C-BS or do they really belive that the teleprompter in chief is the great pumpkin?
Shhh…I think it’s too late now anyways. The cat is out of the bag.
CBS has a good habit of putting things online. If you remember back to the “Rathergate” scandal of 2004, the fraudulent Texas Air National Guard memos that purported to show malfeasance by then Lieutenant GW Bush were exposed when CBS put the facsimiles online. TANG veterans pointed out the obvious mistakes (such as an officer using the wrong abbreviation for his own rank) and digital document experts pointed out that these supposedly 1970s typed memos were written the default font used by Microsoft Word, a font which was invented in 1990 for use on PCs, complete with kerning and automatic superscripting of endings such as the “th” in “10th”.
Obama is the president Clinton would have been if he HAD inhaled.
No, the amazingly, freakishly modest president didn’t say that he was fourth best, he said that the first years, perhaps, of three other administrations might be considered better than his. Clearly, as would be the case with a wife who says “Well, I have to admit that one or two of your girlfriends in some respects were more beautiful than I”, the correct response must be: “No, you are too modest—which in itself further demonstrates your superiority—because you’re the best by far!”
Despite the Steve Kroft ObamaLand interview, Obama still came off as a disaster.
That was an excellent analysis especially as you noticed the word “possible” when most commenters didn’t.
I got a lot of flack about my title of my video (below) but I’d tell people that I was being generous as he implied he could be first. It has 180,000 views and caught the attention of Newsbusters who brought it to light.
It was first a small story in the Washington Examiner which I saw and made the video on the the 13th. Now everyone is talking about the clip.
I’m the fourth best president in American history ~ Barack Obama http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TxvSjDkF7HE
I had to disable comments because I was suffering from abuse.
“possible exceptions” of Johnson, FDR, and Lincoln ”
Mr. Rubin, as you noted he said ‘possible’. Also, he included those exceptions to make himself come off as less arrogant, though he believes himself to be first. The narcissist’s notion of being humble. ” I wont say I am first, I will say I am fourth. You know, in the top five, but everyone knows I am first.”
My apologies to Deadman at #9. I posted before I read the comments section. Deadman nailed it already.
What mystifies me is that so many of the populace think he is doing a great job. I would really really like to understand that mindset (It’s not possible to do anything about that mindset until you fully understand it and can frame an agrument from their perspective.)
The answer lies in this story. CBS never aired this embarassing clip. The media is running interfence for you and acting as an adjunct of your campaign.
#4?? Tell me how many we*ve had and i*ll tell his ranking number!
I beg to differ with President Obama – He is the worst president the United States has ever had, with the exception of John Tydings, who joined the Confederacy. He is even worse the Jimmy Carter.
And Jimmy Carter is trying desperately to get back into the “worst” spot again. Today he sent a condolence note to N. Korea’s “Great Successor”. What a knucklehead!
History always takes a little time for objectivity to set in (Bush is looking better by the day, for instance), but there is, as Obama himself pointed out, no tangible list of “accomplishments” one can point to to support his ridiculous assertion. We just have to take his word for it. He always invokes presidents who took over under dire circumstances, which he did in all fairness, but he can never point out a parallel between their success in turning things around and his.
Insofar as history is concerned, though, he invokes the wrong people. Any comparisons to what Lincoln had to deal with are laughable and should be dismissed without a second thought. We all like to think we have it pretty bad right now but historically speaking we don’t. There is simply no comparison. FDR-same thing. Really, the most comparable in terms of our modern situation at the beginning of a presidency would be Reagan, and the contrast in results couldn’t be more stark.
Personally, I’m rooting for Obama to turn things around. Indeed, several members of my family have been directly impacted by the recession. But as someone whose primary fields of study are finance and economics, I can point to almost nothing the Obama administration has done has been aimed at actually growing the economy, which everyone agrees is the only way we are going to fix the debt/deficit conundrums. He gives minimal tax breaks to small businesses and then creates such a burdensome regulatory environment that even if they could get a loan, which they can’t, they wouldn’t hire anyway because the big boys are the only ones who can afford the army of lawyers necessary to navigate the system. He has effectively built a castle (complete with moats and alligators) in which only trial lawyers, unions, and those with political connections get ahead while the rest of us are left twisting in the wind. All of his efforts seem to be aimed at short-term fixes designed for maximum political benefit to himself. And because we are essentially led by a bunch of lawyers – people who get paid to argue whatever point of view they are getting paid to argue – they are able to spin the results as being somehow “better than it could have been”. Quite the opposite – things are much worse than they could have been (just look at GDP growth at this point in Reagan’s tenure). I’m not against deficit spending per se, so long as the money is spent on things like infrastructure and national defense, things that benefit everyone all at the same time instead of the chosen few. Hiring people to dig holes and fill them back in is essentially what we have been doing under this administration and there is no reason to believe that this will grow an economy.
ONCE AGAIN I ASK, WHAT WOULD THE PRESS SAY IF BUSH MADE THAT COMMENT?
I must say BRAVO! Since you have allowed me to be here this is the Best article, subject and posts that i*ve seen! Thank you Mr.Rubin and all of you well informed Patriots and have a Merry Christmas and a Wonderful Hanuka!
“if Obama gets a second term, he won’t do any better at all.”
I’m afraid he does get a second whack at America he will do much much worse.
Forth worst maybe but by no means forth best by any means of measure! I say worst ever of this century back until 1911!
“One might also list Franklin Roosevelt, Truman (who for some reason Obama continues to ignore)”
Well he did embrace Truman’s “do nothing Congress stategy”, we’ll have to wait and see how that works out for him.
The arrogance of this president coupled with the sneering smarmy arrogance of AG Holder absolutely turns my stomach.
He ignores Truman because Harry backed the creation of Israel.
Good point, about Israel.
Obama also ignores Truman because, like so many in the media at the time, thought Truman “too small a man for the job”, because Truman had no college degree.
I think Harry S. Truman is in an Obama recurring nightmare that awakes him every night at 3:00 a.m. Actually, I think Truman and Coolidge are in alternating recurring nightmares, and Grace Coolidge gets full rights to Michelle Obama’s recurring nightmare
Exactly!
He’s as transparent as a brain-eating amoeba.
And don’t forget — brain-dead Jewish voters in America voted for him 4 to 1.
The MSM never asks our dear leader any questions that might be just a little tough.
“Mr President your AG has declined to prosecute the Black Panthers in Philadelphia for what seems to be obvious voter intimidation. What can you tell about this situation?”
“Mr President again your AG has described in sworn testimony the Blacks of this country as “my people”? Doesn’t the AG of this nation have a duty to consider all Americans as his people? Where is your promise to heal the racial divide in this country?”
“Mr President you voted against increasing the national debt ceiling because President Bush was “lacking leadership” and indebting our children and grandchildren when you a US senator. How can you now demonize Republicans for voting no now and making the very same charges against you?”
“Mr President you made much in your campaign for President about remaking Washington where “special interests” would no longer hold sway. How do you explain a big contributor to your campaign making four visits to your WH and coming away with $500,000,000 in federal loan guarantees for his now bankrupt company, Solindra?”
The list of such questions is essentially endless. Steve Kroft is a hack and sycophant.
Bravo, James Arthur! Let’s hope your questions are asked of this arrogant charlatan come debate time next year against the GOP nominee.
Obama is his own Baghdad Bob.
As for his response to the “kneepad journalism” practiced by 60 Minions, this “interview” had all the realism of a Milli Vanilli concert.
In terms of foreign policy achievements, taking credit for a surge he opposed, a war he never got permission to wage, a “reset” button that humiliated him in every way with Russia, an Iran that openly disses him and a China that is beating him like a red-headed stepchild…well, Seal Team Six DID take out Bin Laden…so, that must erase the two year amateur hour.
Legislatively, he trampled the Constitution, passed an unread monstrosity in reconciliation and has YET to produce a budget in the first 1000 days.
If those are “achievements” they are of omission. He has gotten more done illegally than Al Capone. His DOJ ran guns to drug cartels, he has sued his own state on protecting its borders and has thrown a key ally under the bus.
If by “getting things done” he means putting unions ahead of more deserving and legally entitled creditors in a bankruptcy, if he means getting energy prices to skyrocket, he is well on his way to Marxist nirvana.
For these achievements…he is in a race only with Carter.
That pretty much sums up his forth place pedestal placard. He’s beating Carter by several lengths.
Joe Klein wrote in the latest issue of “Time”, that Obama overruled the commanding general, and therefore should be given full credit for the take down of OBL. Then again, he also went on to rave about how smart Joe Biden is!!!
Actually Barry was probably being truthful without realizing it. He can only name four presidents, including himself and thus, ranked himself dead-last.
Clearly this guy is nuts. And what is more frightening is that he still has the support of over 40% of the public. Even if there is no third party he could win.
That 40% number has been keeping me awake at night. Obama’s rabid baiting of class warfare divisions is only going to get worse if that number holds.
What scares me is that he is diverging further and further from reality. When he started his presidency, it may have been plausible for him to think of himself as a great man. But now he has been proven to be incompetent. Surely he will have to face up to that at some stage. Reality is ineluctable in the long run. If that happens he will have to have some sort of psychological crisis. But who knows, maybe his capacity for self delusion is endless.
That number will be adjusted downward in the not too distant future. That’s the only policy that’s working properly at present. But, as soon as they get drift of this remark, they’ll falsify that too.
The hypocrite-in-chief can’t help himself. Remember, this is the guy who eats arugula and buys $40 worth of Christmas toys for his dog, Bo, but berates the House Republicans for not earlier passing the 2-month payroll tax cut which would monthly take $40 away from middle class families. This is also the guy who has left his Kenyan brother, George, in a shack in Kenya; forgot to help the elementary school named after him in Kenya and which he and wifey visited while he was a senator and promised to fix its dilapidated structure; has allowed his own illegal alien aunt and uncle to stay in the U.S. illegally and in violation of immigration laws. Also, he’s so embarrassed of his hometown (the Southside of Chicago where his house and friends are located and which he did nothing to help and improve while he was a US senator of Illinois, a state senator there and a community organizer in the Southside) that he never goes anywhere close to Chicago for his vacations, but instead goes to Hawaii at a reported cost of approximately$4 million per trip, where wifey is so elitist that she has to go to Hawaii on a separate flight, paid for by taxpayers (the same middle class taxpayers he’s supposedly trying to help).
This charlatan of a president is an utter disgrace to this great country of ours.
It is time that Obama, Geitner and Holder are held accountable for their failures and what they have done to this country. Vote Obama and his cronies out of office in 2012.
BTW here is a list of the accomplishments of the “best president in US history” complied by Rabbi Dov Fischer with around 20 items added by me. I am trying to circulate so that it becomes common knowledge by election day.
Fee free to add of extra “accomplishments”:
1. Obamacare — Attempting to federalize local state rights, extending federal control over massive components of the national bourse, extending federal control over individuals’ lives in violation of the Constitution’s Commerce Clause. Cynically lining up supporters in white doctors’ robes, while refusing to consult with much more prominent and predominant medical groups who oppose. Lying about the program’s cost and tax burden by subterfuging it with exorbitant taxes that begin several years into its anticipated roll-out. Robbing $500 billion from Medicare that will destroy access for seniors, while lying about the Ryan proposal that would not affect people over 55.
2. The catastrophic $850 billion stimulus. $700,000 to develop a robot that tells jokes. $3.4 million for an underground tunnel for turtles to cross the road in Florida. $1 million to help smokers kick the habit by giving them Blackberry “smartphones.” $2.6 million for Chinese prostitutes in China to drink responsibly. Lying to Americans by claiming the money was going to “shovel-ready jobs” — and then joking about the falsehood. Lying by hiding the amounts transferred to favored liberal projects unrelated to job growth or economic stimulation.
3. Chronically high, persistent unemployment — His own staff said that he would bring it under 8% ; yet it remains over 9% thirty months into his one term, with real unemployment actually exceeding 15% as huge numbers of unemployed Americans withdraw from searching hopelessly for jobs. Lying about a Summer of Recovery (2010).
4. Gas prices — Now exceeding $4.50 a gallon in California, while he bars exploration in ANWR, restricts licenses to explore along the Atlantic coast or in the Gulf, but exports American dollars to help Brazil explore for oil in the Gulf even as Obama promises that America then will buy that oil from Brazil. (See also #82.)
5. Failure to pass a budget. The abject failure by the Chief Executive to get any kind of budget adopted for 2010.
6. Multi-trillion debt free-fall. Turning the disastrous Bush deficits into a multi-trillion-dollar economic free-fall, now leaving the nation with a debt exceeding $14.3 trillion . . . and pressing for authorization to increase the free-fall. His own latest mad deficit proposal was demolished in a House vote 97-318, as his own Democrats abandoned him in droves.
7. The seizure of GM and Chrysler. The illegal transfer of bondholder wealth to unions, imposing his views on parts of the American auto industry, artificially trying to jump-start his favored companies with “Cash for Clunkers,” only to find that American tax dollars were used instead by people buying preferred Japanese cars to acquire them cheaper while being forced to destroy throughly sound used cars.
8. Dodd-Frank.
9. Unremitting hostility to Israel. Destroying the Mideast process by imposing unilateral burdens on Israel, forcing Israel to cease construction of Jewish homes, even in Jerusalem, thus compelling Abbas to harden several positions, all while publicly snubbing Prime Minister Netanyahu in the basement of the White House (the first visit) and trying to snub him on the second visit with a horrible policy speech as Netanyahu was flying en route to America.
10. Failure to support Iran’s Green Revolution. A complete silence and abandonment of leadership when Iranians risked their lives for freedom, while backing the Moslem Brotherhood uprising in Egypt.
11. Failure to support the Syrian people’s revolution against Assad. Utter failure to lead until it was impossible to overlook the massacres by a dictator who actively finances and supports Iran and Hezbollah, America’s sworn enemies in Iraq and South Lebanon.
12. The Libyan Fiasco. Entering Libya while failing to consult Congress. No sense of whether we are supporting people just as bad as Qaddafi. Remaining in the war more than 90 days without obtaining Congressional approval. Lying about violating the War Powers Act by claiming there are no “hostilities” in Libya.
13. The Gulf oil disaster. Bumbling in handling the Gulf oil disaster — refusing aid from countries with oil-cleaning vessels, failing to accept offers of boom to corral the spill, bringing in underwater filmmaker James Cameron as an expert.
14. Closing down oil exploration. The unnecessary moritorium on permitting oil exploration in the aftermath of the Gulf oil disaster, contributing to a massive explosion of oil prices, even leading a federal court to overturn him.
15. EPA interference. The shutdown of Shell’s Arctic oil exploration by EPA
16. Cap-and-Trade Fiasco. The push in Congress for a disastrous “cap-and-trade” plan that would stymie the coal, electric, and natural gas industries, while enormously raising Americans’ home fuel prices, leading even his own party’s U.S. Senator from West Virginia to film a TV promise to voters that he will shoot the proposal full of holes.
17. Use of federal agencies to bypass Congressional oversight. The attempt, after Congress refused to adopt his cap-and-trade nonsense, to bypass Congressional opposition and impose cap-and-trade undemocratically via the EPA.
18. Use of FCC initially to restrict free speech. The push for unconstitutional restrictions on free speech on his political enemies on Talk Radio while assuring protections for unions to spend money on campaigns via The Disclose Act.
19. The Disclose Act and cherry-picking. The attempt to unconstitutionally impose The Disclose Act on his political opponents but not unions via Executive Order.
20. Czars to bypass Congressional oversight. The use of unaccountable “czars” who effectively run huge segments of the American Government without being accountable to Congress and who are protected from Congressional subpoena power.
21. Boorish shaming of Supreme Court justices. The embarrassing and arrogant verbal assault on the Supreme Court while Court Justices courteously attended the first State of the Union address, sitting in front of him, leading most to boycott the subsequent State of Union addresses.
22. Boorish attempt to shame Paul Ryan. The similarly embarrassing and arrogant verbal assault on Rep. Paul Ryan when addressing the federal budget, with Ryan having been invited personally by Obama to attend the speech and sit in front of him.
23. Boorish attempt to shame John McCain. The insulting, embarrassing, and arrogant gloating at John McCain during the televised sham negotiation over Obamacare, when he responded to McCain not substantively but by saying that Obama had won and McCain had lost the election — so there!
24. Refusal to prosecute Black Panthers for Voter Intimidation. Obama’s and Attorney-General Eric Holder’s politicization of the Department of Justice, including refusing to prosecute the Black Panther voter-intimidation case in Philadelphia.
25. Marriage Act. Obama’s and Holder’s refusal to defend the Federal Defense of Marriage Act, an act of Congress.
26. Lies, Lies, Lies. The regular use of straw-man demonizations to try winning support for his unpopular legislation, like accusing doctors of performing unnecessary surgery so that they can enrich themselves by imposing misery on their patients.
27. Throwing his grandmother under the bus. Using his grandmother as a foil to win points, calling her a racist like “typical white people.”
28. Bowing to the Saudi King and the Japanese emperor. Literally.
29. Treating our British alliance contemptuously. Shamefully returning to Great Britain the bust of Winston Churchill that they had given us and that had reposed in the White House, while insulting the Queen and the Prime Minister with inane gifts like DVDs. The subsequent fiasco while toasting the Queen, continuing to talk during the playing of the British National Anthem.
30. Violating and abrogating long-standing promises to our allies. Removing the missile shield from Poland and the Czech Republic to placate Putin.
31. Standing with the aspiring Honduran dictator. Backing the would-be dictator of Honduras when that nation’s duly convoked Supreme Court had removed him from office in careful compliance with law.
32. FTAs with allies. Failure to push for quick ratification of free trade agreements with Columbia, Panama and South Korea.
33. Amateurish handling of Afghanistan military effort. The painfully over-extended indecision, for months, whether to authorize a military surge into Afghanistan, then exacerbating the indecision by announcing to our enemies a date-certain withdrawal timeline — a time coordinated with his reelection bid.
34. Incoherence on how to handle the anti-Mubarak uprising in Egypt. Dispatching Frank Wizner as his emissary, then rejecting Wizner’s advice.
35. Radicalizing the NLRB outside Congressional purview. Appointing [Harold] Craig Becker, a radical unionist, to the NLRB through a recess appointment that otherwise never would have passed Congress.
36. Radicalizing FCC outside Congressional purview. Appointing FCC commissioners who are pursuing “net neutrality” without Congressional authorization.
37. Ecology gone wild in California. Wiping out much of the agricultural economy of California’s Central Valley by restricting full water deliveries to protect a small Delta Smelt fish
38. Gitmo debacles. Promising to close the Guantanamo Bay facility that interns terrorists, trying to close it, failing to close it, refusing to concede his error or assure that “Gitmo” will remain open.
39. Civil trials for terrorists debacles. Promising to move terrorist trials to civilian courts, then trying to prosecute Khalid Sheik Mohammed in Downtown New York, only to be opposed even by the two ultra-liberal Democrat U.S. Senators of New York, then pressing to try another terrorist, Ahmed Khalfan Ghailani, in civilian court, resulting in the terrorist being acquitted on 284 of 285 counts.
40. Napolitano out of touch. The shameful failure of Obama’s Homeland Security chief, Janet Napolitano, to appreciate the Obama Administration’s security failures in the face of the near-catastrophe of the “underwear bomber” in the skies over Detroit, as she insisted “the system worked.”
41. Student loans. Government takeover of the student loan program
42. Border security. Cancellation of the “virtual border fence” project with no replacement, while deploying National Guard troops to do paper work at desk jobs and provide office assistance rather than stand armed along the border.
43. The “Beer Summit.” In the aftermath of wrongly castigating and erroneously pre-judging fault regarding the Cambridge Police Department, tying up the country with a foolish spectacle on the White House lawn.
44. Immigration and Arizona. The Department of Justice’s attack on Arizona for that state’s exercise of its sovereign legislative authority on the issue of citizen identification rules. Failure of his own federal government to execute the law on immigration.
45. The attack on Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker. Attacking the Wisconsin governor and his state legislature for exercising their sovereign legislative authority on public employment issues, while Obama failed to acknowledge that the new Wisconsin rules are comparable to those that always have applied to federal employees.
46. Lying to McCain on their deal over campaign fundraising. Violating his pledge to John McCain to abide by McCain-Feingold limits for funding his Presidential campaign.
47. Downplaying American exceptionalism. Apology tours.
48. Implying that the Minnesota bridge collapse was the result of lack of infrastructure funding
49. Chicago Olympics fiasco. Shamefully inserting himself into a botched campaign to bring Olympic Games to Chicago, thereby exposing the Presidency of the United States to ridicule and formal rejection, and demonstrating early-on his overconfident sense of himself and his unpreparedness for the seriousness of his office.
50. Hypocritical attack on D.C. public school voucher effort. The attack on a voucher program for Washington, D.C. schools, even as his own children are protected from the educational failures that curse the Washington populace.
51. Associating with the murky. Associations with convicted unrepentant domestic terrorists and eccentric haters of America: the Reverend Wright, William Ayres, Van Jones.
52. Anita Dunn. Her war against Fox News and her boastfulness that the Obama White House has the “courage to speak truth to Power” — when it is the White House, not a cable TV station, that is “Power”; and her speech to schoolchildren, as a White House representative, sharing with the young and impressionable her idolization and admiration of mass-murderer Mao Tse-Tung.
53. ACORN.
54. SEIU. Having Andrew Stern, President of SEIU, as the man who has visited the White House more than any other person during the Obama term.
55. Teleprompters / White House for Dummies. A reliance on teleprompters to protect him from stumbling and bumbling speeches when, without scripting, he has spoken of his visits to America’s “57 states,” has denigrated the handicapped, could not pronounce “corpsman,” moronically said that Austrians speak “Austrian,” referred to deceased war heroes adding that many were in the audience he was addressing, and has made more gaffes than Dan Quayle.
56. Arrogance and Haughtiness. An extreme level of personal nose-in-the-air arrogance and lack of graciousness, from physical comportment to the way he addresses others. The Roman columns. The arrogant temerity to tell Americans, God-like, that history will record his coronation as the moment that the rivers stopped rising and the planet healed.
57. Chicago Corruption. The house he corruptly acquired through Tony Rezko.
58. The artificial shifting dialects. Affecting an artificial accent when speaking to unions, and to others with whom he allies in his “class wars,” that belies his having grown up in Hawaii, reared by a Caucasian grandmother, his having spent years being schooled in Indonesia, and later attending school at Occidental College in California, Columbia University, and Harvard Law School.
59. Lack of transparency. Refusing to share his academic records or the sources through which he paid for private college and law school, despite his pre-election calls for transparency.
60. Failure to lead on immigration. Not confronting the immigration issue when he dominantly controlled both the House and a filibuster-proof Senate, then mocking the GOP on immigration, saying they would not be happy with “alligators and moats” — when all they want is secure borders.
61. Fiscal irresponsibility on foreign relations with Egypt. Forgiving billions of dollars in Egyptian and related Mideast debt when we are past the 14.3 trillion debt line.
62. Wasting billions on corrupt “Palestine” agencies. Pumping billions more into the discredited United Nations Relief & Works Agency (UNRWA) and the Palestinian Authority that merged with the terrorist Hamas.
63. Radical judicial appointments. Nominating a radical leftist, Professor Goodwin Liu, for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit despite Liu’s contempt for constitutional imperatives towards limited government.
64. Acceding to political bribery by cherry-picking waivers to Obamacare for favored donors. Forcing Obamacare down the throats of small businesses across America that cannot afford it . . . then approving politically correct and electoral pay-off waivers for his friends, donors, and rich boutique businesses. Granting 20% of all the country’s Obamacare waivers in Pelosi’s San Francisco district. Buying off votes from Ben Nelson of Nebraska (the Cornhusker Deal), Mary Landrieu (the Louisiana Purchase) to pass Obamacare.
65. Using the White House to crush political opposition. Trying to force donors to his political opponents to reveal their contributions. Using the White House official website asking supporters to report to the Government instances of people criticizing Government policies.
66. Attempting to crush media opposition. Punishing a Boston newspaper whose editorial attacked him, having his White House conduct a war against Fox News, claiming they are an entertainment, not a news organization, and then boycotting Fox until that strategy backfired.
67. Encouraging cultural decline. Inviting “Common,” a “poet” with disgusting lyrics of hate, to entertain at the White House
68. The Louis XVI Factor. Vacations and high-profile golf during the Gulf oil crisis, prompting even Democrat strategist and Presidential advisor James Carville to erupt in fury. More high-profile golf at Cape Cod while the country was losing its AAA credit rating for the first time.
69. The Marie Antoinette Factor. Michelle high-profile huge trips abroad, a la Eva Peron, with family friends and their children partying on the public payroll, at 5-star hotels in places like Spain.
70. Al Sharpton. Launching his national presidential reelection campaign with a speech to Al Sharpton’s base.
71. Secrecy in Legislation. Failing to honor his pledge to conduct transparent governance, crafting Obamacare with Democrats behind closed doors barred to Republicans, leaving Obamacare as a massive document so convoluted that Nancy Pelosi had to tell the media: “But we have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it.”
72. A philosophy of redistributing other people’s money. Trying to persuade “Joe the Plumber” that it is a beneficial national economic goal to “redistribute the wealth.”
73. Cynically blaming Republicans and Talk Radio for the shooting of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords. Blaming their rhetoric, while failing to address Democrat use of vile and violent language to describe Republicans and the Tea Party.
74. Lying about a family connection to the Holocaust. Lying and falsely telling Americans that his grandfather was among those who liberated Auschwitz when, in fact, no American troops liberated Auschwitz.
75. Failing to grasp the Israel narrative. Describing Israel’s right to exist as premised on the Holocaust, thus missing the entire point of a Jewish country built on the land where Jews have lived since Biblical times.
76. Lying about a family connection to the Civil Rights movement. Telling Americans that his birth happened because his parents became amorous as a result of the 1965 Selma Civil Rights March — even though he was born in 1961.
77. Collapse of the housing market. American housing prices lowest since 2002.
78. Manipulating legislation by forcing votes on massive documents. Racing massive thousand-page legislation packages through Congress without allowing Congress or the American People time to read, comprehend, and absorb the bill — and thus breaking a major campaign promise.
79. The Credit Rating downgrade. Presiding over the first credit-rating downgrade in American history.
80. Timing military campaigns to coincide with election campaigns. Manipulating and sacrificing the lives of American soldiers, basing a withdrawal from Afghanistan not on strategic national security considerations but timed instead to coincide with the start of the 2012 Democrat Presidential Convention.
81. NLRB. Stacking the National Labor Relations Board with left-focused political hacks who are attempting to prevent America’s leading exporter, Boeing, from building a $1 billion manufacturing plant in South Carolina because that state permits employment of non-union labor.
82. Cynically manipulating the national Strategic Oil Reserve. Releasing 30 million barrels of oil from the United States Strategic Petroleum Reserve in order to obtain the temporary political goal of lowering gasoline prices that have skyrocketed in the face of his severe restrictions on permitting exploration in the Gulf of Mexico, along the Atlantic coast, and in Alaska in his obsessive pursuit of “green jobs.”
83. “Operation Fast and Furious” debacle. Allowing Mexican drug lords to access illegal firearms, then losing track of the firearms while the drug cartels used the illegal firearms for crime including murdering Americans.
84. Lying, lying, and more lying to voters. Trying to create class warfare by telling people that Republicans’ refusal to raise taxes will cause youngsters to be unable to finance their college educations, while causing seniors to lose health care and social security payments. Failing to admit honestly that Congress extended the Bush tax cuts and refused to increase taxes even when Democrats had a filibuster-proof Senate and veto-proof control of both Congressional chambers.
85. Investigating CIA patriots. The Holder investigation into CIA operatives’ interrogations of suspected Al Qaeda terrorists and their use of methods that had been approved in advance by the Justice Department.
Here are my additions:
86. the Solyndra scandal.
87. Noncompliance by Eric Holder and the White House for information relating to various investigations.
88. Requesting help from an anti-American terrorist group, Pakistan’s ISI to negotiate with the Al-Qaeda supporting Haqqani network.
89. Bankrolling failed green manufacturing schemes in Finland and Spain, to the tune of hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars.
90. having an Islamist Turkish government, that openly engaged in a terrorist attack on Israel, join an anti-terrorism task force.
91. Delaying the decision for the Keystone XL pipeline, even though there have been numerous studies proving its safety, and costing thousands of US jobs.
92. Delaying shale gas drilling in Wayne National forest over fracking concerns even though are already known to be fallacious.
93. Classifying Major Hassan’s attack at Ft. Hood in which 13 people were murdered as workplace violence rather than a terrorist attack.
94. Politely asking the Iranian government to return our spy drone, therefore furthering the impression that the US is a laughingstock.
95. Failure to negotiate a SOFA with Iraq thereby assuring that no US troops will be in Iraq to prevent the establishment of Iranian hegemony over that country. That is, turning a victory into a defeat.
96. The constant comparisons between himself and better presidents; so far he has tried to compare himself to Lincoln, both Roosevelts and Reagan.
97. Inability to even understand the threat the Moslem Brotherhood and radical Islamist pose to the US, the west and Arab liberals.
98. Giving moral support, a wink and a nod, to the miscreants of the OWS crowd.
99. Failure to destroy America’s top secret spy drone after it fell into Iranian hands.
100. Living in abject fear of Iran going to war with the US in spite of the fact they are conducting constant operations against our troops in Afghanistan and against our allies.
101. The release of several Iranian terrorists who kidnapped and murdered US soldiers in Karbala, Iraq in exchange for the bodies of their kidnap victims.
102. The effort to ensure voter fraud by attacking picture voter identification.
103. Failing to keep quiet about the bin Laden raid as long as possible so that the intelligence from the raid could be used. Once the enemy knows you have intelligence on him he will change his plans and locations.
104. Failure to understand that the war on terror is NOT only a war against Al-Qaeda but rather a war against the political culture of the middle east.
105. Distinguishing between Al-Qaeda and the regime that harbored it, the Taliban. If this was George Bush’s policy Al-Qaeda would still be sheltered by the Taliban regime in Afghanistan.
106. Inability to admit let alone learn from errors, indicating some form of mental illness.
Bob of Virginia. Wow! Somebody has been paying attention. This list is very comprehensive. His Royal Highness Obama and his cronies despise America and Americans.
107. Suing the state of Arizona for the state’s intention to enforce immigration laws because federal immigration laws have not been enforced, even though the state’s immigration laws mirror the federal immigration laws.
108. Blaming G.W. Bush for anything and everything under, around and over the sun.
109. Bullying to get his stimulus bills passed for ‘shovel ready’ jobs which later he admits never existed.
110. Manufacturing a healthcare crisis in order to scare middle America into supporting unaffordable and unsustainable Obamacare.
111. Worsening race relations in America by continuing to fool blacks and Hispanics into giving their allegiance to him and the Democrat person, but not getting anything in return. In fact, they’re worse off now than before he came into office.
112. Class warfare
Thanks, I’ll add those to the list.
ETAB will probably weigh in soon, but I think there is something in little lenin’s remark that everyone is missing.
He thinks he is the greatest president in the same way that a very hungry man might think 5 pounds of bacon grease is the greatest meal, because it weighs more than the other dishes on the menu.
Obama knows almost nothing about the Stick-it-to-us, Obamacare or Dodd-Franks. He hasn’t read them, doesn’t understand them, and doesn’t give a shit what’s in them. But he knows that 7500 pages gives him more words of legislation than any president anytime. Add to that the 100,000+ pages of corrosive regulations that his make-work bureaucracy has cranked out, and you can bet your booty he has more “accomplishments” than anybody, by far.
His legislation weighs more than anybody else’s. He plans to ignore it anyway and do whatever the fk he wants, but he likes the heft of it. It’s the way the guy’s mind works.
Good Grief I never suspected the guy was just going for sheer volume. If we can prevent his second term and his zeal to waste paper on bills nobody reads anyway we might stop deforestation and save the planet after all. Then the seas will stop rising, just like he promised when he told us he is the one we were looking for.
He’s the best 44th president we’ve ever had!
(Kind of like my son said to me – ‘you’re the best mom I’ve ever had!’ – I punched him in the arm for that one…)
111. I meant Democrat Party.
113. Ignoring military officials who said leaving Iraq too soon and without adequate security coverage will result in sectarian violence which could lead to civil war and Iran’s permanent presence and influence in the country.
No doubt the state-controlled MSM will swoon over his modesty. After all, when you are the first Messiah in the White House, it is very modest to think you are only the FOURTH best president.
Is that Messiah Swooning Media, Eric?
I think it’s time to stop talking about him — it only fuels his ego. He’s nothing more than a grain of sand on the ocean floor. Work to overthrow him with every legal means at our disposal, and others if those are taken away. In the meantime, get your hearts right with God, the only matter that really matters in the long run.
114. Receiving the Nobel Peace Prize for accomplishing nothing except community organizing on the streets of Southside of Chicago, voting ‘Present’ as a US and state senator and campaigning 3/4s of the time that he served as a US senator.
115. Not returning the Nobel Peace Prize after continuing the Afghanistan War, engaging from behind in the Libyan conflict and not supporting the helpless innocents seeking freedom, justice and democracy in Syria and Iran.
116. Inability to bring the unemployment rate to below 8%, as he promised.
Of course, a guy who says that there are 57 states and wanted to wish everyone a happy Cinco de Cuatro, isn’t the swiftest bird in the flock when it comes to numbers.
Maybe he meant that he was the fourth best President still alive.
I think Jimmy Carter should be insulted.
Often.
He’s the forth best president since 2008.
For a long time I have thought of obama as the emperor with no clothes. However, no truthful voice hasw proclaimed him to be naked in any of the mass audience media. I continue to look forward to the day when that happens and everything falls down around him. I just hope this country is not of the debris.
The ever-growing list of Barack Obama gaffes and blunders
Here are the highlights of Obama Gaffes and mistakes
Obama calls the Brittish Embassy, the “English Embassy”
Obama calls Navy Corpsman (pr. core-man) “corpse-man”
Obama says there are “57 States”
Obama claimed that “America built the Intercontinental Railroad”
Obama says that he bowled a 129 and compared it to the Special Olympics
Obama said, “John McCain has not talked about my Muslim faith”
On Memorial Day Obama said, “I see many of the fallen heroes in the audience here today as we celebrate Memorial Day”
In a speech in Kansas Obama that said, “In case you missed it, this week, there was a tragedy in Kansas. Ten thousand people died—an entire town destroyed,” –referring to a Kansas tornado that killed 12 people. Oops, a bit overstated?
Major Blunder: Obama toasts the Queen of England while the Orchestra plays the UK’s national Anthem, “God Save The Queen
Obama Signs wrong year the London’s Westminster Abbey quest book. Off by 3 years.
Obama joked, “I don’t know what the term is in Austrian” for “wheeling and dealing.” There is no Austrian language!
Obama said his “Obamacare reforms we seek would bring greater inefficiencies to our health care system.” YIKES! A major Freudian slip in all its glory!
Obama bows to world leaders
Michelle Obama hugs the queen! YIKES!
Meanwhile we are told Rick Perry and George Bush are idiots? Hardly.
Obama beats out all in idiocy, gaffes, mistakes and stupidity. The major difference is that a great majority of the many Obama gaffes and screw-ups go unreported by the mainstream, drive-by media who continue to protect him at all costs.
Obama mistakes occur each and every day, however they largely go unreported. Of course we know this is why the media is bias and Liberal. The danger in this, of course is that Obama could slowly and steadily destroy the United States, but some may not realize it until after it happens due to the media lying to you. The Obama gaffes listed above are only a FEW of the Obama mistakes made.
Obama is just providing soundbites for the post-American world..
he will be remembered as the greatest President by America haters when America becomes Amerika forever…
just saying..
Barry:
Kennedy second in foreign policy? You have got to be kidding. Let’s see, in 1961 he got humiliated by Khrushchev in the Vienna summit which led to the Berlin Crisis. Kennedy was again run over by the Soviet leader in Berlin. This in turn led Khrushchev’s gamble in Cuba which almost destroyed civilization. It can also be argued that Kennedy’s failure in 1961-62 led him to commit to the Vietnam War in 1963. In terms of foreign policy only Carter was worse.
I agree on Kennedy. An absolutely horrible president…period.
But, not as bad as Roosevelt II, who was the worst president ever (foreign policy, domestic policy…you name it)…by a long, long way, and that’s saying something, considering some of the competition.
I think President Obama is much better at being bad than President Nixon. Nixon had the Vietnam War won, only leaving the peace to be policed, but got kicked out of office for a third rate Watergate burglary he never authorized, leaving Ford to get blamed for loosing Vietnam instead of the democratic congress that pulled the plug. (Come to think of it, neither Nixon or Ford blamed Johnson for botching the first half of the Vietnam War.) President Obama inherited the Iraq peace after disagreeing with the bad Iraq war, is currently loosing Iraq to Iran, loosing the “good” Afghan war, but it looks like he and his Attorney General will skate on gun-gate, those gun running White House horrors that led to the deaths of hundreds of Mexican nationals an a few American law enforcement officers. Now that’s zany. Nixon’s plumbers unit didn’t get anyone killed. Since congress continued to support military operations and Obama is still in office, I bet he’ll blame loosing Iraq and Afghanistan during his watch on President Bush (those damn Texans again, they screw up more words and wars than Carter has pills and peanuts). After all, Obama’s a slick Chicago politician from the most corrupt American state with it’s two recent governors doing prison time while Nixon was just a Southern California lawyer, congressmen, and former VP. Of course, Nixon massively supported the Israeli’s during the ’73 war, went off the gold standard, and did wage and price controls, don’t know what Obama would do in similar circumstances; maybe he would lead from behind?
Yes, Obama is more bad than Nixon. Watergate was about two-bit thievery in an office building. And, NOBODY got killed. Fast and Furious, however, has killed hundreds, including border agent Brian Terry. And the democrats say there is no there there in the Fast and Furious debacle.
I am surprised on what Obama said, but there were plenty of presidents who fought international wars within the first 2 years of office. Thomas Jefferson with the Tripolitan War (Libya), Woodrow Wilson who was elected the year before WWI started, Truman the same year as Pearl Harbor, Eisenhower walks into the Cold War of the 1950s, and George Bush Sr & Jr with the Middle East whether we started it or not.
I do believe that if he wins re-election I will pray for him, but that he would be humbled in the process. There are some great opponents before him, who I think can not only do the job, but also reverse some of the damage done by his hand. Do I miss Dubya? Sometimes…but I hope he gets a wakeup call soon and sees that instead of tooting his horn, he would look at what is going on and humble himself.
I agree with most of this column. As you said, the list of presidents whose accomplishments were noteworthy could be open to debate, but where I take exception with you is when you say: “In passing, let’s note that Obama is one of the most inarticulate of all presidents. He finds it difficult to construct a proper sentence. Take away the hype and his level of expression is on the same level as that of George W. Bush. And that is not meant to be exaggerated. I think it is precisely accurate.”
I think Obama is far less articulate than George W. Bush. George W. was well aware of his limitations as a speaker and didn’t present himself as a great orator, while Obama is so utterly clueless on virtually any subject in which a president should be knowledgeable that he doesn’t even know he’s clueless. Obama often can’t string words together in an intelligible sentence because he literally knows NOTHING about the subject he’s addressing. Bush had at least SOME basic knowledge even if he had trouble articulating it.
The ego of malignant narcissists knows no bounds as Obambi’s claim proves. I had a post rejected on this subject rejected by the UK’s Daily Mail. When I called Obambi the the Usurper ‘the Affirmative Action , Teleprompter Kid and Document Hiding Man with no History’. Apparently you are not allowed to tell the truth even on a self calling ‘right Wing’ newspaper like the DM. I also posited that far from being the ‘Fourth Best’ US president that Obambi was rather nearer the bottom of the list even below that abject failure Jimmah Carter.
I will only add that Lyndon Johnson’s biggest legislative and perhaps one of the most important social achievement’s in American history was the Civil Rights Act of 1964. And it was all the more important because it was accomplished by a President from the “Solid South”, largely Jim Crow and very segregated.
Lyndon Johnson is however most remembered as the President whose Presidency was destroyed by the Viet Nam War.
I am not surprised that the Beloved Leader Kim Jong Barack Hussein Obama compares himself favorably to other Presidents who have accomplished more under more difficult circumstances than he has. This sort of self congratulation is typical of the man. The Beloved Leader Obama has a hugely inflated opinion of himself especially given the paucity of his record, political, presidential, and personal.
With all due respect, you are misguided. It was not LBJ who got the Civil Rights Act of 1964 passed. All the heavy lifting was done by the Republicans. It was Republican Senator Everett Dirksen of Illinois who wrote the bill. The Democrats, especially southern democrats (LBJ was one of them), were bitterly opposed to the passage of this bill. It was filibustered for over 40 hours by Democratic Senator Robert Byrd of West Virginia (who, by the way, was a member of the Klu Klux Klan), and most Democrats voted against it. Look up the Congresional Record for the vote, and you will see that the Republicans voted overwhelmingly for this bill and actually deserve the credit. LBJ merely signed it into law. That the Democrats deserve credit for the Civil Rights Act of 1964 is a myth.
You might want to read the history of the Progressives (our democratic party) in the U.S. The real story, the one they don’t want you to know, is that they have been racist and anti-Black for over a hundred years, and still are. Look up Margaret Sanger, Hillary Clinton’s heroine, and find out how she wanted to use human reproductive engineering to rid the world of Blacks. The real story behind the Progressives/Democrats is horrifying.
Give me a break, the Civil Rights legislation was guided by Johnson and would have gone nowhere without his support.
Let’s at least be honest and give Johnson the credit he is due. To suggest that it was the Republicans who ran this through is false and demeaning, it was the President all the way.
I’m amazed that Obama even considers Lyndon Johnson to be one of America’s top 4 presidents. Where did he learn American history, and what the heck was he taught?
Lyndon Johnson was a hate-figure for the Leftists who are Obama’s biggest fans. Because after all, LBJ sent 500,000 draftees to Vietnam–and it was the Left that organized all those giant antiwar protests against it.
Virtually no non-black historians consider LBJ to be one of America’s top 4 presidents.
I’m betting that Obama admires LBJ for Medicare and the Civil Rights Act. But no non-black leftists ever admired LBJ.
Where’s Obama’s statement on how much daylight he’s saved with Daylight Saving Time? Did I miss that somewhere?
Mr. Rubin; You got the “iceberg” story wrong. Obama is convinced the iceberg will get out of his way.
And for another incisive biopsy, I’d like to mention Dr. Victor Davis Hanson’s ‘When the Legend Becomes Fact, Print the Legend’.
What’s puzzling to me is, that there aren’t mostly guffaws at these statements by this petulant juvenile.
If you don’t think they’re funny, just imagine Bob Hope or Richard Pryor saying this stuff on stage. Mel Brooks could win an Academy Award with this material.
And he thinks Joe Biden is someone that represents America? This looks to me to be what he truly thinks represents white people. He really is quite a joke.
I suggest that his choice of “third best” presidents is very revealing of Obama’s view of the world, history, and of himself.
I think it’s really as crude as simple as this:
- Lincoln freed the slaves
- FDR: introduced Social Security
- LBJ: Civil Rights, Medicare, Medicaid
- Obama: Obamacare
That’s it. Obama is not in the least interested in presidential accomplishments in the areas of foreign policy, territorial expansion, or economic growth. His sole criteria consist of, who introduced legislation that (supposedly) led to a more progessive, equal, fair society. He is really as simple-minded as that.
“He is really as simple-minded as that”
whenever a lefty speaks the intended audience is those people still drinking the koolaid
so to suggest obama is as simple-minded as that really jabs at the 40% who still blindly/brainlessly support him
There was a great UK band: Simple Minds
And I agree with you on BHO ideology:
Health Care for all (eventually single payer)
Enable unions to flourish regardless of worker’s intent
Nationalize the largest financial entities
Establish and nourish voting blocks dependent on Federal aid
And there is more. But the problem is he didn’t get it done quickly enough
and there are significant anti-Obama populations that realize we’ve had it, can’t afford any of this stuff.
It is that simple.
I can see where his selection of those presidents who were greater than he.Abraham Lincoln freed the slaves. Naturally a black president counts Lincoln very highly. Then there was Lyndon Johnson. That may surprise some. But we have to remember that Obama was only made possible by Johnson. Those were the days when Johnson opened the door to Saul Alinsky and his Community Organizing. Some may remember the riots that broke out all over America. Just how Johnson was involved, probably not consciously, is detailed in a book by Irving (or is it Irwin) Unger entitled “The Best of Intentions. Johnson was trying to do good with his War on Poverty. Finally Obama names Roosevelt. I think it’s because Roosevelt opened the way for the Welfare State. If he were more consistent he could have named Dwight Eisenhower who appointed Earl Warren to the Supreme Court. Or perhaps Richard Nixon who in his Philadelphia Plan opened the way to Affirmative Action. But they were Republicans. So President Obama sees himself as the fourth Imam in the succession of Presidents of Black Liberation.
Mr. Rubin, regarding the first two years of the Lincoln administration, you write:
“Actually, I’m not sure Lincoln would qualify despite his overall greatness
since the first two years of his term was spent fighting a largely losing
Civil War.”
I write to say a word or two on behalf of the Lincoln administration and its domestic program. In the first two years of the Lincoln administration, the Congress adopted
– The Pacific Railroad Act (July 1862)
– The Homestead Act (1861)
– The Morrill Land-Grant Colleges Act (July 1862)
– The Revenue Act of 1861 (first American income tax)
– The act creating the Department of Agriculture
Each of these acts individually exerted a profound effect on American history. And any of them are orders of magnitude more important than whatever President Obama fancies he has accomplished.
Not to mention the Emancipation Proclamation. The announcement was issued soon after the terrible battle of Antietam.
And this man has the nerve to compare himself to Lincoln!
The Egomaniacal Obamas
The latest talk in Washington mostly concerns sizes–the size of tax cuts and Michelle’s posterior even after the president’s bitter half made a startling admission to Barbara Walters on “20/20.”
The FLOTUS hasn’t publicly responded to Rep. Jim Sensenbrenner’s ungentlemanly observation that she is a hypocrite for preaching the evils of obesity while sporting significant rear baggage. Admitting her self-absorption is a bigger story, anyway.
In a “20-20″ interview, Barbara Walters suggested Michelle Obama’s statement that she is her own highest priority sounded just a tad selfish. Unfazed, Lady O denied the selfishness while conceding busy women tend to “slip pretty low on our own priority list because we’re so busy caring for everyone else.”
The FLOTUS just thinks it’s “practical” to place herself on top because, well, because, like Stuart Smalley, she thinks she deserves it.
Nothing selfish there. Mrs. Obama is currently busy on vacation in Hawaii working on her top priority.
On the other hand, her hubby has never lost sight of his number one priority: Barack Hussein Obama.
It’s a given that anyone who feels in his or her heart of hearts that he or she is qualified to be president of the United States, leader of the free world, and representative of the interests of the last superpower left on Earth must have an ego the size of Alaska.
Or, a priority list with him or her at the pinnacle.
It’s another given that anyone with little to no experience or credentials who presumes to seek the nomination of a major political party to the office of the American presidency must either be addled or egomaniacal beyond comprehensibility.
Since Barack Hussein Obama often appears to be exceptionally muddled and since he won the presidency principally due to his race and white guilt, he has to be judged the greatest deluded egomaniac ever to sit in the Oval Office. The greatest, overt egomaniac ever to hold the un-elected position as America’s First Lady resides upstairs–when she’s not vacationing on the taxpayers’ dimes.
President Obama has all-too-frequently demonstrated both ineptitude and delusionary perceptions of common realities by his inability to think and function absent scripted teleprompterings. Add to those serious flaws a transparent obliviousness to the ramifications of his domestic and international policies and it becomes obvious he needs a huge ego to counterbalance them.
And he has it.
Twice recently, Obama reinforced the view that he would have been better off continuing his career as a Chicago community organizer and America would be far better off not saddled with his misplaced egotism. . .
(Read more at http://www.genelalor.com/blog1/?p=11598.)
Remember that the cliche portrayal of a schizo was that he believed himself to be some great person from history. Obama seems to be a mild case so far, ergo he is only mildly insane. He only compares himself to Lincoln, he still does not claim to be Lincoln. Another few months of the presidency should complete that delusion.
