Virtually since the day President Barack Obama was inaugurated in January 2009, I’ve been reporting in great detail on his disastrous Middle East policy. I believe nobody in the world has written more thoroughly documented words and provided more factually based analysis explaining why this policy is so bad than I have.
And so I am often asked whether I believe this situation is caused by a deliberate, conscious effort to destroy U.S. interests, subvert Israel’s existence, and promote anti-American Islamists on the part of the president and his closest colleagues.
No, I answer, it is the result of ignorance, incompetence, and a ridiculous ideological approach that has nothing to do with reality. But, I add, it certainly says something that the policy is so bad that it makes people think that deliberate treason is a credible explanation.
Recently, an expert I respect who likes my work asked me the following:
At what point do “oblivious,” clueless,” or “misguided” no longer describe what is going on here?
At what point do we say that the top levels of the U.S. government and our national security leadership are wittingly complicit in supporting a Muslim Brotherhood takeover of large parts of the Middle East? As you lay out these events and facts, there is simply no other conclusion to be drawn: this is deliberate.
When does it become treasonous or at the very least an abrogation of constitutional oaths of office and dereliction of duty?
I believe the first and last paragraphs are wrong but the second one is partly right. They don’t fear the Muslim Brotherhood getting into office, because they think it won’t happen or can be turned into a good thing. This is horrible but not consciously evil.
How can we explain Obama’s behavior on the Middle East? I’m not the least bit surprised or baffled. I do not think the fact that this isn’t “treasonous” is a mitigating circumstance. Beyond a certain point, gross incompetence and systematic stupidity are inexcusable sins in politics even if not crimes. The sentence should be voting them out of office as soon as possible.
The great French diplomatist (and thoroughly evil human being) Charles de Talleyrand put it this way: “This is worse than a crime, it’s a blunder.” You can have some respect for an evil genius cleverly following his plan but none at all for a fool putting his country’s interests and the lives of millions of people at risk, refusing to change course even when his strategy is obviously failing.
You just have to sit at dinner with a State Department guy, for example, who tells you in great detail how the battle went within the bureaucracy over accepting Islamism as something good for the United States or watch how the CIA generated studies fixed to exclude truth in arguing Islamism isn’t a threat. It’s only mysterious if you don’t see it up close.
Here is what we should see:
First, Obama thinks he’s very knowledgeable about Islam, based on very limited personal contacts. Aside from his profound misunderstandings, his experiences come from Indonesia, the place where mainstream Islam was more moderate than in any other Muslim-majority country. And even that predates the infusion of Wahhabi and al-Qaeda radical thinking and theology even in that country.
In my opinion, the worst single blunder of Obama in the Middle East was his Cairo speech telling people in the region that they should perceive their primary identity as Muslim rather than in national terms. The idea that political Islam could be some asset for the United States — rather than an enemy being held back largely by nationalism — was like putting a big bomb next to a fragile dam. Yet Obama thought it was some act of far-sighted genius on his part because he could tame political Islam.
Second, Obama is a narrow-minded and arrogant man who understands little about international affairs or the profound differences of other cultures. He neither listens to ideas outside his own conception nor heeds proof that he has failed. A clever evil genius adjusts himself to circumstances, determined he will always look good. Obama is merely wrong and incompetent, openly displaying ignorance.

We are watching the biggest strategic miscalculation of the West in the last 500 years. We are heading toward disaster.
This blunder will hit us hard in the near future, when the ‘stumbler-in-chief’ has left; the disaster he created will hunt us for a long time to come.
It has been postulated that this is an Obama temper-tantrum. Dreams from my father outlines his contempt and hatred for the United States and specifically, the UK for “what they did” to his father.
Misplaced and inappropriate anger are still anger and Barry the inept has plenty of help in regards to how to “punish” the US. He is setting the stage so that (he very possibly hopes) that masses of attacks on the US, both here and abroad result in many more Americans getting killed. By apologizing to muslim leaders, he has shown this nation to be weak and he quite possibly knows from living amongst them for so many years and quite possibly being one himself, that muslims will take advantage of that perceived weakness.
By supporting a wholly sharia muslim takeover of the entire land of sand, he quite possibly hopes that it will go after Europe, in vengeance for the crusades of 800 years ago, if he even knows about the crusades, and, more importantly, to give the US the black eye it so “rightly deserves”.
Like all idiots, Obama was taught and now believes that the US is the cause of everything bad that has ever happened in the world. This couples well with his own internal anger and self-hatred. His skill at manipulating people (through incessant whining) is paying off both here and abroad by fostering the anger and hatred of other nations and peoples.
He couldn’t be more satisfied. Where Carter’s actions were just blind ignorance of how muslims think, Obama’s actions are in perfect harmony with them. Lacking a fundamental moral center, he bases his ideas of right and wrong from a manufactured template of social grievances. In reality, no one has ever done him any harm.
He was never told “no” as a child…or as an adult for that matter and he’s now the result of that complete and utter lack of discipline. His emotions run his mind. There are a myriad of things in present day society that compliment his skill-set in order for him to achieve his goal of punishing the US:
The sound-bite mentality
The racism schtick
The victim schtick
The evil capitalists
The poor
The dumbed down public education system
Just to name a few. They all work together to allow his empty but angry speechifying to rouse rabble with the public. Given the right person, he could probably convince them to put a gun to their own head; Providing said person had sufficiently low self -esteem and felt guilt in crushing waves.
And, he has flatly stated, “I’ll side with islam”. http://pajamasmedia.com/blog/geert-wilders-western-sages-and-totalitarian-islam/
I think World War I beats that just a tad.
Absolutely correct; a war with Islam is coming, and it will be brutal beyond our ability to comprehend. Unfortunately, our children are going to have to fight it. Just thinking about it nauseates me.
Hiroshima, plain and simple.
And tragically enough the way these “Arab / Islamist / Sharia Springs” are developing…it wil be soon.
They are as emboldened more that ever….more than ever since the 13th century. And without a beat back to the 7th century from us and the rest of the free world….they’ll succeed and we’ll be doomed.
And tragically enough the way these “Arab / Islamist / Sharia Springs” are developing…it wil be soon.
They are as emboldened as ever….more so since the 13th century. And without a beat back to the 7th century from us and the rest of the free world….they’ll succeed and we’ll be doomed.
Who the hell does obama think he’s kidding? It should be apparent to all now…that he’s an islamist through and through. Hey…God help us all.
Barry, in your considered opinion, will we [u.s.a. and israel] survive until the won is out of office?
will we be able to recover from all these blunders?
I used to want to work for CIA out of college. Then I noticed that the Administration seems to be purposely trying to marginalize the Agency and make it appear out of date if not incompetent. I’m wondering if these monumental mistakes coming out of CIA regarding the origin of Islamist terrorism and the mistaken notion that the Muslim Brotherhood could be our friends has been countered of late now that Panetta is out and Patraeus is in?
I realize that the admin’s appointment of Patraeus to CIA Director was to make him go away, but is that showing any signs of backfiring?
The CIA needs little assistance to appear incompetent; they do a fine job on their own.
Whatever else it may be, marginalizing agencies like CIA is the standard Democrat playbook at all levels these days. I’ve been involved in cleaning up after two by-the-book Democrat administrations in the last decade or so. The parts of the government that tend to be most agressive towards Democrat constituencies and ideologies get hit hardest and first: labor relations and human resources administration get somebody friendly to unions put in charge and all the “old hands” get run off if appointed or if merit system they get an office with no windows and a chair that flushes. Vacancies are filled with either Democrat hacks or the young and useless. Financial management rules get “streamlined” and administration becomes very politicized so they can reward their friends and punish their enemies. Law enforcement becomes very politicized and whether something is considered a “crime” worthy of enforcement action is totally a political call and often based largely on who the alleged perp knows. In sum, the entire government becomes simply a political instrumentality; there are no objective decisions. And the really bad news is that it takes years to clean it up because merit system rules don’t apply to Democrats so they build their nests of “stay behinds” all through the government to leak, thwart, and sabotage anyone who might have a Republican thought.
Brilliant essay Dr. Rubin, indeed it is the single best explanation of Obama’s insane behavior with regard to foreign policy that I ever read. It’s a shame that the MSM is never going to pick it up.
Did I understand you correctly about the CIA, that is, they are staffed by delusional lefties. Actually it makes sense. One of the people I know who went into the CIA was a delusional lefty.
Just f**king wonderful as we say in the army.
There it is again: the reference to MSM. This means Main Stream Media. This means the leftist media. This includes, but is not limited to LAT,NYT, Chicago Trib, Houston Chronical, Miamia Herald and everything in between; it means TV ABC,NBC, CBS, CNN, and MSNBC; it means leftist Internet bloggs, such as Media Matters, Huffington Post, and that ilk; it means magazines, such as Time, News Week;it includes radio talk shows as well; in short, the leftist organs of misinformation and suppression.
By continually using the phrase, MSM, or expanded Main Stream Media, is to give this portion of the American News/Editorial media an elevation for which it is unfit and doesn’t have the numbers of listeners and viewers.
Thus, a better name is Old Media.
We use the term New Media to describe more accurate, fact based, sensible, newsbreaking media. This would include NYPost, Washington Times, Wall Street Journal, Weekly Standard, National Review, Fox News, Fox Business, CNBC Kudlow Hour, GBTV, radio talk, such as Ingraham, Hewlett, Limbaugh, and the whole realm of Internet bloggs too numerous to mention here.
There lies the most viewers and listeners. This is the new Sheriff in country. Let us use the terms Old Media and New Media until the phrase MSN is something from the past, the dustbin of history it so richly deserves to be consigned. Besides, it is an inaccurate phrase.
Now this is an understanding of 21st century politics! If we don’t start labeling the communists as being what they are, they will effectively label themselves as being us.
You mentioned Kudlow. I cannot believe the brilliance of this man. His insights are almost supernatural. He’s like a latter day Old Testament prophet, and I’m not exaggerating. I sit there and listen to him with my mouth open, thinking, “why didn’t I think of that?”
Kudlow, wasn’t she on “Friends”.
Mr. Rubin uses the phrase “Obama’s Middle East policy.” I’m not sure there is a middle east policy to speak of. Rather, there is a naive world view in place of Middle East policy, aided by second or third rate advisers and a shoddy press conferences.
I believe Obama’s MidDLE East policy is cold and calculated…It’s working out exactly as he and his handlers have planned….NOW THEY ARE GOING TO TRY MOVING IT ALL OVER HERE…BRACE YOURSELVES~~~
It’s not a blunder….
It’s what you get when you leave potheads in charge!
You really have to wonder about his policy when he unilaterally goes into Libya and “loses” 20,000 missiles. He put missiles on the ground with no boots?
Barry, I am an avid reader of your posts and an admirer of your work. I have long held many of the same opinions about the current administration, though they tend to fall on deaf ears here in California. My question to you, is what you would have had Obama do when the Egyptians were calling for Mubarak’s ouster. This is a question I am often confronted with when I rail against his handling of the Middle East. Do you think he had a choice but to stand with “the people yearning to breathe free” thus losing Egypt?
Maybe the answer is that he should have either treated Egypt like he treated Iran, Syria and Lebanon, i.e. say very little and do nothing, or treated Iran, Syria and Lebanon like he treated Egypt. If he “stands with the people”, then he should stand with the people everywhere, not just when they want to ouster an American ally. It’s not one single action in one single case that betrays him, but his inconsistency, or rather his consistency in prefering enemies to allies, so when someone asks you about one single case maybe you should put it in context and compare it to Obama’s reaction in other similar cases.
Very well put.
That sounds a little too simple to me, and it definitely doesn’t guarantee the desired outcome. It would be hard for America to justify giving billions of dollars to a government that oppresses their citizens in such a brutal way. Since they had no such leverage with Iran, it was a lot easier to stay out of it, as America wasn’t actively contributing to the oppressive regime.
At the “42″ table we used to get on the slow players by saying “study long, study wrong.” as they were contemplating their dominoes. I’m just saying…
I’m sorry Nitsanc but if you’re seeking “guarantee for a desired outcome” you’re living on the wrong planet. There are no guarantees.
There are ways to make a potential outcome steer towards more desirable or less desirable and it takes deft, adroit political skill to achieve one over the other.
A skilled politician will employ many of the skills of a good debater to try to sway an opponent’s line-of-thinking.
Then, there’s Obama who throws things and yells at people and criticizes and whines; None of which I’ve ever seen win any sort of debate.
Would using a stronger language and daily hammering the message about the massacres in Iran and now in Syria cost him? Why does the American government remain nearly silent while Assad is doing in Syria exactly what Ghadaffi was doing in Libya and far far far worse than what the army did in Egypt? Every now and then they mumble something. The American ambassador left just now citing threats to his personal safety as the reason – that’s months into the unrest and after about 3000 dead. If the American president “stands with the people” wouldn’t you expect him to raise his voice loud and clear with uregency on a daily basis like he did with Egypt? Wouldn’t you expect him to call the ambassador back in protest shortly after the massacres began rather than wait months and then have him flee the country due to threats? Unless the American president still has hopes to appease the Assad regime into becoming an American ally. If this is the case then 1) he doesn’t stand by the people, 2) he’s a bigger fool than we give him credit for since Assad never showed any signs he seriously considers replacing Iran with the US as an ally even before this whole thing began, and he, and any other anti-American Middle Eastern dictator, will have to be a suicidal imbecile to even consider allying with the US now that we know what happens to Middle Eastern dictators who make that fatal mistake. Being an enemy to the US is far less dangerous.
Anyway, Obama clearly doesn’t stand with the people when it comes to Iran and Syria – he’s not doing everything in his power even diplomatically. He doesn’t respond with passion and urgency. And he only entered Libya as a favor to your Euro allies who’ve seen their oil threatened. Not that I support a military intervention, but just trying to make a point. Before the Euros pushed him he treated Libya with about the same urgency he treats Syria. He went playing golf somewhere. That’s his way to express solidarity with the people, I suppose.
As for Lebanon – there seems to be a confusion as to whether the US still gives them aid, including military aid and training, now that Hizballah has taken over. What’s clear is that the Obamadmin isn’t as preoccupied and passionate about Hizballah’s takeover and the way it was acheived as it was with Mubarak, in spite of the fact the US is giving them aid.
The Obamadmin was also quick to accept the Muslim Brotherhood as a legit political force in Egypt. But it’s hardly a surprise considering representatives of the Muslim Brotherhood were also invited to attend Obama’s Cairo speech, thereby lgitimizing them and undermining Mubarak. And also Israel since the MB doesn’t hide its intentions towards Israel and Jews at large and is the founder of Hamas.
What has happened in Iraq, Afghanistan, Tunisia, Egypt, and what is now occurring in Libya, does not advance our vision of real democracy. Sadly, it only appears to help the Arab Spring countries move closer to becoming Islamic states and gets us that much closer too having an Islamic Caliphate. Through stupidity or by design, we are complicit in that eventual result. It’s time to remove our forces out of the Middle East and Obama out of office. In spite of anything we do, they will continue to fight among themselves as they have for thousands of years with Shites and Sunis killing each other and hating everyone else for not being Muslims. Without our petro-dollars, they are much less a threat.
Obama’s campaign promise to get us out of that region is one I wish he had kept!
Again, I’m not arguing against Barry’s point, but am rather trying to solidify his argument. What could Obama have done to prevent Mubarak’s ouster?
Obama shouldn’t have and couldn’t have prevented Mubarak’s ouster. He shouldn’t have encouraged it either, at least not more than he does with Iran and Syria. And he shouldn’t have encouraged the Muslim Brotherhood. He shouldn’t have had his people meet with them, he shouldn’t have invited them to his speech, and he shouldn’t have unconditionally accpted them as a legit political force in Egypt the US won’t have any problem with. He could have talked about reforms and gradual transition instead of “Mubarak must go now, yesterday”. Of course, there was no chance the people would have accepted it or that Mubarak would actually make reforms, but Obama could have toned it down a little. And if not, then he should act the same towards your enemies as well. It doesn’t make sense to go with fury after an ally and be anemic with your response to an enemy. Don’t the people of Iran and Syria deserve as much as the people of Egypt?
When Abbas the “moderate” calls for the destruction of Israel and CAIR wants a caliphate that includes America it is hard to believe that this insane Middle Policy is not designed to destroy Israel and America.
Agreed.
What Obama, Hillary, et.al., are doing IS treason, and it IS evil. Merely because Rubin can theorize about their motives (unclear as those may seem to him), does not make their actions any less culpable or evil. Everyone concerned deserves to be impeached and removed from office, then tried for treason in a criminal court. The traditional punishment for treason involves the use of industrial hemp.
Oh, and by the way, speaking of treason…
Washington, DC is crammed with Muslim Brotherhood moles.
The first affirmative action President .
My sentiments exactly.
Well, perhaps you are right, Mr. Rubin, but I can never get away from the fact of who put BHO in the White House: George Soros, who truly is malevolent and truly does hate America.
But your closing sentence is very wise. When dealing with people whose minds we are trying to change about Obama’s policies, we would do best to counter the beliefs that people actually have, with arguments they will actually consider. If I were to tell them what I REALLY think of Obama, I would only drive them away!
George Soros is evil, no question about THAT.
Anybody who follows him becomes a tool for evil.
George Soros wants a single world government. So does Hillary, Barack, and most of their supporters. Most believe, mistakenly, that 200 countries with just as many languages can be made to understand that one size fits all. That should clear up some motivational stuff for Mr Rubin.
If any SANE country found someone acting against its interests as Soros has towards the US, that person would have a 9 mm brain hemorrhage in some dank, dark basement.
Whether or not Talleyrand was evil, i think he wasn’t, is was the more vioious and cynical Fouche who said it was worse than a crime, it was a blunder.
It seems nobody knows. This quote is attributed in different places to either Talleyrand or Fouche, more often to Talleyrand from what I’ve seen.
Please take the following in the spirit of constructive criticism. By stating uncomfortable positions, I wish to add arguments to the debate about the Administration’s flawed Middle East policy.
Who created an effective Turkish lobby? Who advocated for the “Turkish Model” in the ME?
I add in sorrow that many well meaning officials in positions of responsibility advocated and aided in implementing this policy variation of “Responsibility to Protect”, that has morphed into supporting Islamist regimes. A policy that began under Clinton in Former Yugoslavia that furthered (unwittingly or by design) Muslim and Turkish interests. Viewed from the vantage point of the former Israel-Turkish alliance, the implementation of the then “Turkish Model”, (Kemalist or Islamist, effectively the result is the same) was considered a positive development that furthered “perceived” American and Israeli interests. Forgive me but their miscalculations have created a “Frankenstein”. Can you imagine Turkish ground troops stationed in Syria within striking distance of Israel’s northern border under the guise of “peacekeeping”? That along with 40000 Turkish troops on Cyprus, plus two forward airbases on the island? This creates a totally new problem for Israel’s defense planning, courtesy of American and Israeli Turkey advocates. Unwittingly(?) America is undermining the defense of it’s only secure beachhead in the region, Israel.
What has this Administration promised Turkey?
And let’s not forget it was the Kemalist Generals who encouraged Islamic forces to develop after the 1980′s coup, as a counterweight to leftist-radical forces in Turkish society. But, as long as there was a viable Turko-Israeli alliance, all was well and good, many turned a blind eye. Didn’t anyone remember the old adage “never put all your eggs in one basket”? Now we must deal with the consequences.
You mention that large elements of the State dept. are horrified by the administrations Middle East policy. On the contrary, large( pro-Israel) elements of the State Dept. nurtured this situation by steadily furthering Turkish/Muslim interests for DECADES (read Turkish oil pipelines, support for Azerbaijan, Bosnia, Kosovo, FYROM, huge arms sales to Turkey, US insistence on Turkish EU membership, etc).
The Arabists at Foggy Bottom are having the laugh of their lives.
Solutions? I’m open to suggestions.
Believe me, this “responsibility to protect” was a leftist fraud from the get-go. It simply provides a pretext for going to war whenever the leftists see some political or monetary advantage to themselves (not for the US, but only for themselves).
Oh, and by the way, the Clintons’ support of Muslim expansionism in the Balkans was no accident.
they are only protecting muslim.
clinton is as bad as obama and I doubt that mccain would be any different.
it is not just obama who is a dangerous incompetent. most of the present government is (at least the leadership) the CIA, ATF, FBI EPA, congress and senate are all occupied by idiots and marxists.
…well maybe mccain would be worse. he now wants to attack syria. as if the brotherhood doesn’t have enough countries yet.
mccain should be in obama’s czar movement. I have started to call my bowel movements mccains !
I teach Just War Doctrine at Yorktown University, and have written several articles and a book about it. I have tried to look at the purported “responsibility to protect” from the perspective of JWD. I find it to be a complete violation of the traditional JWD.
True, one of the classical “just causes” for entering a war is to come to the aid of a victim of unjust attack. However, there is a lot more to it than that. Other factors, such s comparative justice, right intention, probability of success, etc., must be considered as well. “Responsibility to protect” completely ignores all the other Jus ad Bellam criteria.
I conclude, therefore, that there is no “responsibility to protect,” in the sense that it is incumbent on the US (or anyone else) to come to the aid of someone simply because they are the victim of an unjust attack. That may be a necessary condition for intervention, but it alone is not sufficient.
“A fool is worse than a traitor if only because more people will vote for him.”
That statement is the gist of the matter. I don’t think that Obama thinks for himself in ANY of this …
Exactly. This is the point of vulnerability of democracies. The electorate is not particularly apt to detect incompetence, as far as governance goes, perhaps because experienced politicians have honed the practice of eliciting emotion, to the detriment of reason. At this juncture, there is a good deal of disappointment in the electorate, which might explain an unusual discounting of the highly polished candidates.
I wonder if this is why Cain beats Romney in the polls? Epiphany anyone? We have been asking ourselves whether incompetence or malevolence would better explain the policy failures. So, how about electing a straight shooter this time? He may be lacking in experience as much as the incumbent, but would he be candid enough to learn?
“In these ideas, Obama is similar to the far left in America and Europe. The problem, of course, is that none of those clueless impractical intellectuals is commander-in-chief of the world’s greatest power.”
In a sense they are. The minute we (all Western countries, including Israel) allowed the far left to take over the universities it was just a matter of time until their disciples become heads of states. The intellectuals were never this secluded fringe group that bears no influence. They were always influential by spreading their ideas in the wider public through popular culture. They’re far more influential now that so many young people in the West go to college. Particularly the higher socioeconomic strata send their kids to college – those kids later become the majority of our politicians, journalists and artists, carrying the ideas of the far left to the general public and turning them into policies. The Obamadmin – each person in it, each journalist serving as a propagandist for it, and each person voting for it – is the direct result of letting the far left take over academia.
Well stated!
Gramsci had it right and now the communists control academia, the media, entertainment, much of government at all levels even in the “Red” states, and since Comrade Obama’s Immaculation, they’ve controlled the US government.
I agree that Obama is indifferent to American foreign policy and diplomacy, and even if he had an interest in it, he would do and has done a terrible job.
That said, by now it is obvious that the political and military situation in the Middle East is in chaos. Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Egypt, and Israel are all vying for influence over events and all are at odds with each other.
Worse, the soon to be implemented US withdrawal from Iraq and Afghanistan is bound to bring Iran, Saudi Arabia, and the other Gulf States into some sort of confrontation.
The ongoing turmoil in Syria, Egypt, and Libya is a perfect stage for the various parties to struggle for supremacy and also for the myriad terrorist groups to both arm themselves and continue their terrorist war.
Add to this the economic tsunami slowly destroying Europe and America and it is hard to see how anyone or any country can stabilize the Middle East.
I truly shudder when I think about how bad things are going to be in my Middle East neighborhood even six months from now.
I agree with your sentiments. Those with vision fortold of what’s unfolding now awhile ago, and yet, they are ignored or marginalized. I fear it’s going to get much uglier very soon.
What Mr Rubin said.
Or maybe he really wants what is happening to happen.
Which is the simpler explanation?
one barry is as dumb as the other barry, but only one of them means well
Re: #4 Bob From Virginia…..
….”Did I understand you correctly about the CIA, that is, they are staffed by delusional lefties…..”
I always thought that the “lefties” were (are) all supposed to be in the State Department.
If our C.I.A. is staffed by delusional “lefties”, how did we win the Cold War? When were these “lefties” all hired?
Is the screening process of the C.I.A. so lax that they don’t really know who they’re hiring? Are they deliberately hiring “lefties”?
More questions are raised here by Obama &Co. and their accumulating blunders than are answered. Shouldn’t that, in turn, raise questions about the screening of our potential Presidential candidates?
How could those Obama-voters have been so duped? Was it all “charisma”?
This “administration” should be carefully studied for years to come as always something to be avoided.
Sure, manywere duped, but believe me his election was not won fair and square.
As for winning the cold war, credit should go to James Madison; our system of government was superior to the Soviet’s. Strategically the Reds were winning right up to the day their empire collapsed. As for the personnel of the CIA at the time, I’m not an expert I suspect these were the depression and WWII graduates, the greatest generation types who got their real education at Normandy and Inchon. Easy times produce easy people, I suspect we are seeing that today.
But that is just a guest.
It was said of the CIA’s predecessor the Office of Strategic Services (OSS) that OSS actually stood for Oh So Social. The federal government is hideously over-credentialled at all levels; you practically need a Ph.D to get a clerk’s position (or fit the right AA block), but State and CIA have long been the province of the Ivy League. The Ivy League has been the province of the communistis since the 1930s. The only reason we haven’t had some Hahvud man or Yalie standing on the Kremlin balcony beside Kim Philby is that we never really caught our WWII and early Cold War Era moles. There was a reason President Reagan came as close as he could to reincarnating “Wild Bill” Donovan when he appointed William Casey, a stalwart who went back to OSS days and was known to be loyal as his Director of Central Intelligence.
The next Republican President should fire everyone at State and CIA that s/he has a colorable legal right to fire as his/her hand is coming off The Bible. And I can hear the howling about the “disruption” but the only thing that will actually be disrupted is a whole bunch of foreign agents and lobbyists’ contact lists. The positions are far better vacant to filled with people of questionable loyalty.
In March of 2009, the cancerous tumor in the white house stood on national television (CNN) and stated, “I am muslim”. Then he went on to address the Arabic nations and arabic scibbles appeared at the bottom of the screen. Right then I knew that Israel was in more danger than the evil Hitler would have ever planned for them.
Yesterday, the cancerous tumor in the white house called for Israel to apologize to Turkey and then went on to tell the Palestinians that their troubles won’t go away becaause of Israel. The very evil, corrupt cancerous tumor in the white house is planning to destroy Israel. He is muslim. He is evil and is on a path to destroy the “Big Satan” (America) and the “Little Satan” (Israel).
But, there is good news. Israel is the “Apple of God’s Eye” so who do you really think will win this? God has His plans. So does the cancerous tumor in the white house. I put my pick on God.
For well over 100 years the goal of Marxist-Leninists has been the destruction of capitalism and in particular, the USA which represents to Marxists, the epitome of capitalism.
Obama is a Marxist Leninist and his policies, foreign and domestic are consistent with this ideology.
I do not think he is incompetent or lacks judgement; he is simply following his Marxist pseudo-religious ideology in implementing all his policies.
The BIG MISTAKE many people make, I think, is trying to explain away his actions as that of an incompetent, inexperienced, arrogant narcissist.
His actions are perfectly consistent with his Marxist Leninist beliefs.
By the way, since Israel is a close ally of the USA, it stands to reason that Obama will pursue policies that are harmful to Israel.
Also, you will notice, that Obama says ZERO about the killing of Coptics in Egypt, the repeated and intentional mass exterminations in N.Korea (via famines – the favorite method of extermination of communists), his total lack of support for any freedom movement in Iran, etc.
If a NAZI took over a nation and began exterminating jews, no one would be asking the question, why is so and so pursing those policies. Aside from historical precedent, the answer would be because that is their belief system, their ideology their world view.
And so it is with Obama – his policies are a direct result of his Marxist Leninist religious beliefs.
Unfortunately, these are the same beliefs pummeling university students’ impressionable minds since the 70′s in many university programs. These 60′s radicals have moved to college professorships all across our land and to some churches that are now preaching “social and economic justice” – “cosmic justice” as Thomas Sowell puts it. If our children don’t get this on their plate in school – not to worry -they may get it at church. Our younger adult population for the last 40 years has been getting a heavy dose of this propaganda, which explains why so much of the media, teachers, government, etc. is sympathetic to Marxist ideas. It takes a very strong mind to verify everything that is being said all around you without relenting. If some of one’s values are formed at home, while growing up, what will happen to the generations coming from parents who have been spoon fed this ideology, plus what they’re getting in school and/or church? Parents and grandparents, teach your children to think independently and examine both sides of an idea no matter who is stating it.
Sorry, but the marxists were already there when the ‘Sixties radicals got to college in the ‘Sixties. The communists have owned the Academy in the Humanities/Liberal Arts and even much of the “hard” sciences since the 1930s. Admittedly, lots of ’60s “radicals” had to put that Ph.D they got to keep their 2S deferment to some use so they stayed at the university as instructors then professors and now they’re heads of departments or even heads of whole universities.
What I don’t understand, well, yes I do, is why when Republicans control over half the state houses and most public university boards of regents are appointed by governors and / or confirmed by legislatures we on the Right haven’t done more to get control of the publicly funded universities in our states. Who cares who goes to Hahvud and gets a degree in Angry People Studies, we don’t have to hire them. And if all else fails, the universities should face the wrath of Republican legislatures at budget time. Sure, they’ll call us names, but they’re going to do that anyway; we ought to at least get our money’s worth.
I’m fascinated by Obama’s psychology. I think you are underestimating his intrinsic evilness and his hatred of Israel that lies in his heart.
I study Obama photos and videos daily. When he thinks the camera isn’t observing him he has a coldness and meaness in his eyes that are downright scary. There are countless examples of this.
He is passive-agressive towards his wife publically making fun of her eating habits,(don’t get between her and a tamale) on many occasions.
I’ll never forget a conversation he had with a Jewish neighbor in Hyde Park as reported in the Jerusalem Post. When the subject of Israel came up, Obama’s eyes turned icy and he turned his back and walked away not saying a word.
I realize that these are anecdotal, but when we have so litte to go on they take on a certain amount of significance to me.
The Mussolini pose was all I needed to see.
I agree. When I saw that photograph, the similarity to photographs of Il Duce was astounding.
I spent much of my career dealing with Meany School trained, Alinsky disciple union reps, some of whom even knew they were communists; I knew what Comrade Obama was the second I laid eyes on him. When he made that Convention speech I said to myself, “so you’re the one they think they can dress up and fool a majority.” Hate to have been so right.
Here’s a scene from 2014:
US MUGger: “Hey Israel, I have a great idea – give up the Golan to the new Syrian regime for peace. This is an opportunity that can’t be missed!”
Israeli PM: “Um, let me think about it. No.”
US MUGger: “But these are the AUTHENTIC representatives of the people! Just like only Likud can make peace (Camp David 1979 yadda yadda), only a Syria run by the MB can cut a deal that will be acceptable to the Syrian people and stand the test of time.”
Israeli PM: “But now we have a hostile and unstable Egyptian regime to the south which is draining our resources and additional problems with Turkey. We can’t afford to withdraw to the 1967 borders on another front. And in any case, the new regime keeps saying they want to destroy us.”
US MUGger: “That’s exactly why you need peace with Syria. Everything will be super once you get off that tiny hill. All this talk about destroying Israel is just for domestic consumption. What they really want is the Golan Heights. Last but not least, remember that this is the era of missiles, not land!”
obama and crew are TREASONOUS as well as incompetent, dishonest and narcissistic.
if it was pure incompetence then one policy would accidently benefit America. Since none do then I think the damage is willful.
this crowd does exactly what one would expect from a marxist who does not want to be perceived as a marxist. they lie and lie and carry on their destruction.
In the end will it make a difference if it is willful or accidental …freedom and the constitution will be gone.
Thank you for calling the President “treasonous” in all capital letters.
That is exactly the response that Barry was hoping to elicit from his audience with his over-the top lies and exaggurations.
Thank you for playing your part.
you are welcome. I’m not even an American and I know what treason looks like.
for some people nothing is treason. you appear to be such a person.
if I didn’t capitalize the word would you feel better? (rhetorical question)
“Obama is a narrow-minded and arrogant man who understands little about international affairs or the profound differences of other cultures. He neither listens to ideas outside his own conception nor heeds proof that he has failed. A clever evil genius adjusts himself to circumstances, determined he will always look good. Obama is merely wrong and incompetent, openly displaying ignorance.”
In short, Obama is French. Face it, the guy LOVES Europe and everything it stands for. He Adores the gigantic European social-welfare states, he loves their huge governments with their endless stream of government bureaucrats and government workers, he is smitten with the idea of spending almost nothing on defense so that more money can be plowed into social-welfare program, and he could care less about high unemployment or no positive financial growth because the state will take care of everything, from health insurance to college education.
Obama has openly stated that there is no such thing as American exceptionalism and that we are no better than any other country, like France. The European model is what gives Obama wet dreams at night, which is why he has spent us into oblivion in just three years (aided by the like-minded liberal democrats in congress). In short, Obama wants to be the president of France, NOT the United States of America. To Obama, the Constitution is a mere “distraction” and foreign policy is better left to others who have the time for it. And when we actually do something stupid overseas, like attack Libya, Obama never quite thinks about what will happen AFTER the dictator is overthrown. Who cares if the dictator is followed by an even worse Islamic jihadist theocracy? Hey, at least he stood up for his “sophisticated” liberal principles, right? And if his pals Britain and France can get more oil out of the deal, even better.
Obama wants us to be France. So if you want to know what his foreign policy will look like, just follow what the anti-semitic, selfish, oil-grubbing Europeans will do. There is the answer to why Obama does what he does.
An excellent comment to a superb column. I am grateful to have both.
And, of course, we have news reports of Libya’s new government wanting to base the new constitution on Shariah principles. Even my local print and electronic media reported this.
Let us think outside the box, rather than reacting to what seems to be lunacy on the part of our government. Perhaps our government wishes to unify the Middle East under the flag of Islam in order to prevent individual countries being picked off by Russia or China. We no longer wish to personally battle those entities for control, but their oil cannot be allowed to fall into the hands of Russia and China.
Such an explanation would explain the need to emasculate Israel, which continues at every opportunity provided by the Muslims to make them look like hapless fools and incompetents.
It also explains why the US government is not doing more to thwart the production of an Iranian nuclear weapons industry and why Europe is actually abetting Iran’s efforts with material and expertise. The hope is that it will nullify the ability of Russia or China to march into the Middle East with impunity. While Iran is run by xenophobic lunatics, America and Europe are hoping that their animus will be turned towards the north and the east rather than the west.
This Machiavellian manipulation, of course, lacks appreciation of what can go wrong. The innumerable errors in calculating the consequences of such transfers of power is what makes their policy insane. Rather than producing a world of values that support life on this planet, the US and Europe seem to be hoping that the Arabs will make tough enemies of Russia and China without forcing America and Europe to spend their treasure and lives in defense of oil or any ephemeral principle at all. Perhaps this is why politicians need to be thought of as evil, treacherous and traitorous. The argument comes down to power versus principles. The politicians have abandoned principles to those without access to power – the middle class and the media who argue forever about what is right and wrong, while the politicians accept blithely a world without values – only power. Politicians as a religious cult of “believers in power” thereby doom the world to annihilation. It is for this reason that I believe that it is the class of politicians who need to be eliminated if human life is to persist here.
Winning and losing in life, as in a chess game, is mostly determined by blunders. In most cases, there is nothing wrong with a boring stalemate.
A good chess player is thinking at the very least 3 moves ahead.
The Progressive Movement has been thinking for 100 years to this time.
The ignorance of what is happening around us is the reason we have Obama and his administration ruining the greatest Country the world has ever seen.
You haven’t seen anything yet.
This man is not going to stop.
Hell, even Congress can’t stop him, he won’t allow it.
He is the poster child of the progressive party and he is failing badly.
So, as you watch the transparency come to pass that he promised to display to the American People, and all the other crap he spews, keep in mind that only an avowed Marxist would ever go this far this fast to destroy the country that voted him into office.
The man has 45 czars.
Socialist/Marxist/Progressive czars.

What breathless hysteria this article is.
Amazing. I’m surprised so many people respect this hysteric.
Mr. Rubin trying picking a topic, write about it. Pick a topic, write about it.
If you feel like gushing hysteria like this, breath into a paper bag, lie down .. do something until you can be objective again.
I’m sorry Mr. Rubin but I must disagree.
Although I write fiction laced with conspiracy based on current happenings, I truly believe conspiracies of any meaningful dimension are impossible to pull off.
Humans are both unpredictable and when engaged in evil deeds , unreliable, thus the conspiracy falls apart because one of the participants gives into self interest above the interest of the conspiracy.
…that is until Obama and the Middle East.
I never doubted that what is now unfolding in Egypt, Iraq, Afghanistan would occur. These are fertile grounds for zealous, motivated and driven promoters of a ‘Global United Islamic State’ and that is where it, and the 42 othe Islamic countries are headed, with Iran at the helm.
The conspiracy having as a partner our own inept head of state, Mr. Obama, “ehh,” I said, “I don’t think so.”
Until yesterday.
Mr. Obama provided support for the overthrow of the existing government in Libya, using our pockets and his pen.
He didn’t ask our permission or approval, he used his exalted self-image and a weak legislature to eject a dictator that stood in the way of his personal image of the ‘Global United Islamic State’.
That, Mr. Rubin, is unfortunately the bow on the ribbon that convinces me that it is intentional, planned and a conspiracy…and also…very, very, evil intentioned!
I am thinking the increasingly hostile political climate in the middle east will push the US to becoming energy independent. That cannot be good news for Israel.
And the relentless paranoia in this comment section is Mr. Rubin’s fault.
He is too intelligent and educated a man to be this manipulative.
He should be thoroughly ashamed to stoop so low as to write like this!
Looking down at everyone from your vaulted perch?
Paranoia and conspiracy theories surround Barack Obama for one reason only:
Barack Obama.
It’s BO who has shielded his life in secrecy. It’s BO who paid millions of dollars to hide the facts surrounding his birth certificate only to reveal them when the moment was ripe.
It is BO who won’t release transcripts, writings, if any, and minutes from his time as a state senator.
It’s Barack Obama who won’t admit that his biography Dreams was partially written by Bill Ayers. He started his political career in Bill Ayres living room afterall.
It’s Barack Obama who has publically supported muslims throughout his career with the video of his tribute to Rashid Kahlid spiked by LA Times.
Paranoia? Do your homework.
Thank you, Janice!
It’s BO who has shielded his life in secrecy. It’s BO who paid millions of dollars to hide the facts surrounding his birth certificate only to reveal them when the moment was ripe.
That is a complete and total lie.
That “fact” was spun from what he paid his lawyers over campaign related legal work, which was about the same amount that John McCain paid for the same sort of work
And THAT is the problem, that men who know better are spreading lies or encouraging their spread. That hysteric Rubin is a very educated man, he knows the truth as well as I do, but he’s encouraging everyone in his comment section to write stuff like you just did. He corrected none of the half truths and lies you’ve absorbed.
That’s totally unforgivable.
He doesn’t correct yours either. I don’t think he’s here to correct readers’ comments. If you find the comments here shocking you should try the mainstream newspapers. They don’t correct readers’ comments either.
And as for the rest of your conspiracy theory – it’s really funny to suggest Barry Rubin is trying to spread conspiracy theories about Obama. Where have you been in the last 3 years? Interesting you only refered to the birth certificate (which is the only issue I happen to agree with you about) and not to any of the other arguments. The combination of Obama’s acquaintances, his major influences, his background, his books, and his hidden Rashid Kahlidi tape spawned conspiracy theories right from the start. His actions in office seem to confirm everything people expected, which aggravated to situation. Barry Rubin has been fighting it for about three years now, trying to convince people Obama isn’t the Manchurian Candidate. If you think Rubin just made it up rather than really responding to it, if you think he doesn’t really get such letters and reads such things in the comments to his artcles, then you haven’t been on this planet for the last 3 years.
I don’t need to question his citizenship. The man is an avowed communist who surrounds himself with other avowed communists and who was backed by a Soros led cabal of financial and ideological interests who have decided to eliminate the US as a singular World power capable of acting autonomously. They’ve pretty well succeeded. Now the muslim side of the cabal is poised to re-establish the Caliphate with all its holdings outside Europe restored and with Turkey poised to restore its Ottoman Era holdings in The Balkans. Thus, the last 500 years will have been undone and islam can begin again its conquest of The West.

Nice of the “avowed communist” to bail out wall street and ignore the poor people who lost their homes cause of all this.
For God’s sake the evidence is that Obama is a very conservative (in the sense of not taking risks) Democrat. Very very middle of the road.
Did you know that poor people have lost all of their wealth (ie houses, mostly) in the downturn. The stats are that black people have lost 85% of their wealth, hispanics 75%, whites 1/3 (sorry they often take stats by race not poverty in this country). Imagine how an ACTUAL leftist would react. Don’t worry, there aren’t many of those in Washington and believe me, Obama isn’t one of them.
Oh well. Actually bailing out the poor would do a lot to save the economy and jobs because if you don’t have customers, you don’t have businesses.
And you know all those grannies who lost their savings aren’t ever gonna spend again. The interest rates are so low there is no safe investments for them either… The poor won’t be back into the economy either.
Your paranoia about acting autonomously well, it’s just paranoia. After Iraq, and Afghanistan no one has the political capital to start wars autonomously for a while, the PUBLIC is too sick of footing the bill. Don’t blame Obama.
For God’s sake, he’s done infinitely better in the middle east than most democrats would, he continued Bush’s policies as best he could.
Imagine if Kerry was president.
As for the Muslim thing.. My god what a fucking stupid lie that is.
Yeah, bush shook up the middle east and it’s changing, finally, thank god.. And a lot of places things will get worse too, and better in others. That’s life. Not under Obama’s control and not his doing.
We did a good thing in Libya though, read Michael Totten’s blog and books.
Get it through your head, Obama is an American, he’s a Christian, he’s a middle of the road Democrat not a communist. He doesn’t hate America, he doesn’t hate whites.
Look all of these lies are flying around here because of the massive stench of fear that went up with all your racists friends when they saw a black man get the presidency. Give them all a fucking valium and stop listening to their ranting.
When you repeat obvious lies “foreigner, hates american, muslim, hates christians, wants to destroy civilization, bringing a caliphate, communists” you look like a moron or like someone driven into hysteria by racism. Get a grip and go back to normal politics. You know, where you debate policy. Remember that? Remember when politics was about policy?
One of the things I learned to admire about the doctrinaire communists I dealt with was that they very methodically learned from their mistakes. Comrade Obama is a tool of a Soros-led cabal united in only by its desire to eliminate the US as a singular World power able to act and even impose its will autonomously. It is easy for Comrade Obama to act in concert with Wall Street and other business interests the same way the National Socialists “coordinated” cooperative businesses with Party policy and objectives. It is a simple and effective system; a business is a friend of the Junta and it prospers, usually with taxpayer money. A business is not a friend of the Junta and a whole alphabet soup of federal regulatory agencies descends on that business to force it to either coordinate with the Junto or cease to exist, see, e.g., Gibson guitar, Boeing’s SC plant, Ford Motor Co. soon when they come to blows with the UAW.
Comrade Obama has a legion of useful idiots like you who believed in all that hopey changey crap he spouted while the stupid women practically threw their panties at the state for him. He couldn’t care less about “the poor;” he needs to keep them poor and angry. Democrats are the party of the weak, poor, and stupid and the more people they make weak, poor, and stupid, the more potential voters they have. Weak, poor, and stupid is about the only thing besides the deficit growing in America these days. Oh, other than resentment against the traitorous SOB. If we are able to restore a legitimate government next year – and if the Junta abides by the election result – there is going to be a terrible reckoning.
In Libya, “The brigade for purging slaves, black skin”
- slogan seen painted in rebel country.
There is mostly silence about the horrors taking place against Libya’s blacks.
STOP the GENOCIDE of Blacks by the U.S. backed cruel Libya rebels!
The Obama-supported rebels left in charge are now conducting a “large scale cleaning in the areas under their control with the extermination of all blacks in the capital”, according to The Independent.
Barbaric atrocities, kidnappings and ruthless genocide of blacks in Libya by US/France/NATO backed Al-Qaeda/Hezbollah rebels has been going on for months.
US/NATO who have waged war for months for Hezbollah and Al-Qaeda
who MURDER our troops in Iraq-are RESPONSIBLE for stopping the genocide.
US/NATO are also responsible for rescuing the many terrified blacks kidnapped by the rebels, including the kidnapped black children who have been horrifically abused by the black-hater Muslim rebels.
Blacks must have human rights!
STOP THE GENOCIDE!
John Rosenthal in PJM has been reporting on just that for awhile. I think he is one of the only ones to do so.
http://pajamasmedia.com/blog/mounting-evidence-of-rebel-atrocities-in-libya/
Obama is clever enough to couch his words in such as way that like a Rorschach test they can be interpreted in different ways, so on his words alone we would never be able to come to a final conclusion of whether he acts out of incompetence or deliberate treason. If, however, we find that every country in the Middle East in which Obama has helped to get ‘community organized’ has fallen into an anti-American Islamist dictatorship, then his actions alone would mark him as a traitor to this country.
I take it that the two main groups advising Obama, political ideologues and a large part of the CIA, are of like mind. It occurs to me that if the CIA has indeed become infested by Marxist, pro-Islamist ideologues then this country is in very serious trouble.
United together in JIHAD, US/NATO, Al-Qaeda and Hezbollah triumph over Libya.
Admiral James Stavridis, NATO’s Supreme Allied Commander, Europe, and the commander of the U.S. European Command told the U.S. Senate that Al-Qaeda and Hezbollah fighters are among the Libyan rebels currently receiving support from the US and its NATO allies. This was confirmed by one of the Libyan rebel officers, Abdel-Hakim al-Hasidi, who leads one of the Al-Qaeda units.
U.S/NATO joined with Al-Qaeda and Hezbollah terrorists to wage war.
Gadaffi did some terrible things. But US/NATO consider barbaric Al Qaeda and barbaric Hezbollah to be good guys to be placed in power in Libya? US/NATO have great guilt in making the world a far more dangerous place.
Keystone Kop or Manchurian Candidate?
The question answers itself.
Manchurian candidate (and he is getting quite a lot accomplished, too).
BTW, the two are not mutually exclusive. The Manchurian Candidate doesn’t necessarily know or appreciate who his handlers are; he simply has to behave in a predictable fashion in accordance with their requirements.
Americans ask for a closed casket if the body of the dead has been mutilated, but thousands in Libya waited for hours to see the bloodied corpse of Qaddafi. Americans also like the serenity of quiet and not the constant loud noise of guns being shot into the sky. It must have been frightening to be in Sitre as those lovers of blood and gore invaded their city. No prisoners were taken as the savages murdered thousands in Qaddafi style.
28 Jan 2011, Daily Telegraph: Egypt protests: America’s secret backing for rebel leaders behind uprising
The American government secretly backed leading figures behind the Egyptian uprising who have been planning “regime change” for the past three years, The Daily Telegraph has learned.
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/africaandindianocean/egypt/8289686/Egypt-protests-Americas-secret-backing-for-rebel-leaders-behind-uprising.html
America was behind the ouster of U.S. ally, moderate Mubarak, in order to bring to power the Muslim Brotherhood whose stated goal is the destruction of civilization.
It is clear that the U.S. and other Western ruling elites are working to destabilize the Middle East and they don’t want moderates. They don’t want secular governments. They prefer the most radical elements of Islam.
The only radical Islam that I am aware of are those who are Apostates.
DaOne, and company are flag holders for the global Marxist agenda of seven economic regions. The Islamic economic region is being but back together in return for what? A Hunda?
They only last ten years according to Muhammad.
Obama was placed in office by his liberal pimps to do two things. First, destroy the middle class in America and, second, weaken as many of the core aspects of American culture as possible.
Obama’s failures in judgment, integrity and competence, especially if they work to accomplish the base objectives, are OK. They have misjudged in that they believed that the dizzy support of the fake would last forever; they never prepared for the good sense of Americans, even most democrats, some blacks and a few liberals.
If the Republic survives the next two years, we may be able to remove the filthy blot of liberalism for many years.
I don’t buy that Obama naively thought Islam could be tamed somehow. He has known his religion very well all along. The number one duty of all muslims is to work towards a worldwide islamic caliphate. As president of the USA he is and was in prime position to make this happen. Everything he has ever done, especially in the foreign policy realm was geared to that. If he is going to be a one term president, at least he will have done his number one duty as a muslim.
Fifty-two percent of Americans fell for him in 2008. Nobody knew where this man came from. He hid his background, and for very good reason.
May I suggest that the American people start reading up on islam, what kind of political slash “religious” system it really is and what it stands for. We will be fighting it for a long time to come if we want to keep our country and our freedoms. Maybe Obama voters will catch on somewhere down the line. Maybe not. I’m not all that hopeful.
Mr Rubin,
I agree with your overall assessment of policy by blunder, but I’m fairly certain you are wrong concerning the State Dept and DoD being less culpable than the CIA. Libya being the perfect example how incompetence from each agency is shared, promoted, and woven into a foreign policy that fits seamlessly on our Emperor as he struts on the world stage.
Mr Rubin is ignoring domestic policy, which is has an equivalent impact to little lenin’s foreign policy.
Assume for a moment that you can twist yourself into a pretzel and actually conclude that the unexplainable is explainable in foreign policy and that the explanation is that they are fools.
What are the odds that the same could be true domestically? Well if it’s binary, the odds of being totally clueless in two completely separate domains is 4 to 1. But it’s not binary. The odds are certainly much much more than that.
It’s deliberate.
And the absolute proof is what they say. They claim they have good intentions. Case closed.
Egypt’s Mubarak, and now Gaddafi, show it’s dangerous and even life-threatening to be an ally of America or seek to help America. Which country is targeted next?
It’s extremely important to note that in his later years, Gaddafi cooperated with America. He gave up his nuclear and other weapons of mass destruction programs. Radically different from Iran who have vowed repeatedly to “Wipe Israel off the map” and, “DESTROY America.” Iran fully intends to carry out their murderous threats.
U.S. and Western leaders owe the world an explanation as to why they waged relentless war for several months against Gadaffi who freely cooperated and was no longer a threat. And why GENOCIDAL Iran is given a free pass. Iran is allowed to become a nuclear power, hold the world hostage, and in the end, perpetrate a terrible nuclear Holocaust on humanity.
No mr Rubin. No! The fact that they are not evil is no reason not to accuse them of being evil. It’s how the left fights, so I say: lets fight back!
What the author says about Obama’s worldview is true: that what O believes is true about people outside the US is far more dangerous to the country than his domestic policies. But this is only slightly comforting.
However, I, personally, find it hard to believe that Obama’s no-drill, his regulatory policies, his green energy boondoggles and swindles, his Madison follies (that was Bam), his apology tours, and nasty little “your enemies” type speeches, and his numerous other anti-country attacks comes from a person who is merely incompetent. For years I couldn’t bring myself to believe that O was deliberately harming the country, but I have to go with reality on this one.
As proof that Obama isn’t evil the author mentioned Obama’s apparent inability to change policies that are toxic for his reelection, as in evil people always go with the flow. This is somewhat true. But if Obama were to change now he would be giving up on all the bad things he has pulled off so far. And they have been so bad that at this point he would have to reverse course completely to begin doing beneficial things for the country. It is far more useful for O to stay the course and he will go down in history as the One that brought the US to its knees, or at least did considerable damage to it. Now, why would a far left-wing narcissist with delusions of grandeur and who lied his way into office want to give up on a thing like that?
An inconvenient truth: Bush and Condi have responsibility for creating Hamastan rather than arm-twisting the results in America’s favor. Obama didn’t reinvent the wheel – he’s just continuing Bush’s stupid policy.
I have tried to write about Barack Obama as Forrest Gump, but it doesn’t work. Forrest was very successful, if only accidentally, while being sweet, humble and goodhearted. Whereas, Barack Obama is a dismal failure at everything he does, while being obnoxious, arrogant and mean spirited.
It is not the “Keystone Kops” but in reality it is the “Three Stooges on Parade” that we are witnessing in real time!
I believe he is cold and calculating and knows exactly what he is doing to this country.
I would say the writer is in denial. Don’t want to believe he would be allowed to do this here, right? I knew what Obama was, and who he represented before the election. Too bad others projected what they wanted on to him, voted without knowing him, or in the case of others in government, or this very demonic media, helped him.
His friends are William Ayers, Bernadine Dohrn, Rashid Khalidi, and others from the Muslim Brotherhood. He’s appointed these members into DHS and the State Department. Why would you even give him the benefit of the doubt on this. It is intentional. There are rumors his true father is the Muslim, Malcolm X or his real name Little. Funny, Little doesn’t have the same menacing sound as, X, does it?
I knew what Obama was. I’m more saddened by those that allowed it to happen, and let it continue. That is where the real betrayal lies.
Here is Larry Grathwohl on the plans of the Weather Underground. It fits in with Fast and Furious. They want to kill millions of Americans.
Silence in the face of evil is itself evil: God will not hold us guiltless. Not to speak is to speak. Not to act is to act.

Barry is not “in denial” he’s a very intelligent man who deliberately used the “Manchurian Candidate” reference and the assumed disinformation that Obama seems to be destroying American interests in order to whip this comment section into a froth of hysteria.
Believe me he thoroughly intended to have all of you calling the president a traitor and you all are, on cue.
This propaganda was deliberately set up and it is working as intended.
I’m just a bit shocked to see a man in a position like his being this crude and petty.
I only wish that Barry Rubin were that “crude.” I’d applaud him, loud and long, if that were so.
I find the whole discussion “fool/traitor” moot.
A marxist is a fool by definition: reading Marx’ “works” without laughing is impossible for a person of normal intelligence with solid knowledge of economy, history, and philosophy.
So every time that we have to do with a subversive internationalist we have to do with a fool.
But that does not change the fact that this administration is the first American administration composed mainly of internationalist subversives, busy at destroying America’s might and the West’s Freedom.
Yes, you need not preach all this as propaganda for the elections, but knowing it will make your propaganda much much deeper.
Obama’s well known disdain for the story of America was considered a positive thing within the main adherents of the Democratic Party as, generally speaking, the Rainbow Coalition shares the same view of America, and particularly white Americans, as some kind of sinners whose sins must be expunged and whose population must be whittled down demographically with massive Third World immigration so that white folks can never sin again.
This is not foolery but a conspicuous deconstruction of white European society and influence and in this light, his Cairo speech and actions both within and without the US become more transparent. Obama’s foreign policy initially was one big apology for past wrongs done by America with the implicit assurance that those racist, colonialists were gone and a new sheriff is in town.
As in the reference to the British general, Obama will find his new partners, being forced by circumstances into being pragmatists, know the old so-called ‘weak’ America was actually a strong America and will assist Obama in the coming to fruition of his new vision of America which disdains success and rewards failure, playing right into the hands of players in the middle east who cannot compete without the quasi-Quisling, President Obama.
Obama = Manchurian Candidate plain and simple! Check his background!
Thank you for playing your part in this charade and calling the President a traitor just as Barry intended. I’m sure he appreciates your cooperation.
You’re posting anonymous comments from the WH basement for all anybody knows.
You don’t have the courage to post a link to a blog, e-mail addy or something that could identify yourself. You have absolutely no credibility and should be ignored. Even your handle is obnoxious.
I’m using the name my mother gave me. I don’t see how that’s “anonymous”
And no, I don’t want email from this group.
Also I don’t know what WH stands for,.
Wait “WH” stands for “white house”
Oh God. Sigh, Barry gets the comments he deserves.
You’re easy to bait, Scholar.
TROLOL
I don’t expect to see someone called “Granny” say “TROLOL[OL]“… are you on 4chan too?
you’d think they could get a better grade of trolls with all the unemployment (thanks to the TREASONOUS barry …hey what is Reggie and L. Sinclair up to these days)
And here I thought all the intellectuals were in Washington DC, did you escape or did they let you out for happy time?
yes !
…and check out his friends
Of course, just because the Obama administration is grossly incompetent and systematically stupid doesn’t mean that the Muslim Brotherhood et al won’t gladly take advantage of the situation!
I would like to see a Republican president and a Democratic congress.
I would like to dissolve the Democratic Party and make all of its former members and officeholders work in the fields for a few years. Maybe after a few years some could have their citizenship back on taking a loyalty oath that carried a death penalty for its violation.
We are headed for the mother of all world wars, unless we do one thing: unleash the energy industry in America, Canada, Australia et al, to produce cheap, available energy (and I don’t mean windmills and solar panels), the effect of which will cripple the Middle East for all time (and massively inconvenience their erstwhile South American and African hangers-on). When they see their revenues vanish, they may attempt war, but it will be short and nasty for them.
This is the only thing that will force meaningful reform on Islam, and the entrance of the Arab Middle East into the 21st century.
In response to your third point- Third, his conception of the United States and its role in the world should render him unfit to be president. When will media cover the truth of his being ineligible from the start? Yes he is unfit. However, the crimes of fraud and ID theft to illegally obtain the office of POTUS is not only treasonous, it is outright war on “we the people”.
The Alinsky method of ridicule will not change the facts. The FACTS. A forged birth record. A fraudulent SS# from Connecticut. A failed E-Verify test. A confirmed scrubbing ahead of elections of nearly every case online of Minor vs. Happersett by Justia dot com. which defines “natural born citizen” (Constitution Art.2 Sec 1. para.5) Every court case denied so far and no discovery is presented. What in the world does it take to open the eyes of the once responsible Fourth Estate? Forget the name calling of birthers it is not a fringe group like mouthpiece Rove spews. Where is integrity? Courage?
Answer this question, if the facts with evidence reveal a pattern of fraud and barry spends nearly $2 mil so far in legal fees to block the discovery, does this raise concern for at least an investigation?
Even Pavlov’s dogs learned after several negative reenforcements. The current administration and Obama don’t have that quality.
..that;s because they are getting away with everything they try. hardly negative from their perspective.
In my work I have had contacts from these countries or that have left their respective countries for the freedom we once had. You don’t talk about the situation but if they talk about it, you empathize. What little they have said is they are glad that men like Hussein and Gaddafi were being pushed out but what is next? They don’t see a plan, just a repeat. When these countries align themselves with I’manutjob what do you bet they blame us for meddling?
The word is scienter. Obama has it in spades. The entire Obama administration is complicit. The cause of action is treason.
The proof is all around us; lying there like bright red signs just waiting to be picked up by an honest prosecutor.
If Obama and Holder don’t end up being led out of the White House in handcuffs, no President ever will. They’re guilty beyond any reasonable doubt. Dirty as crooked cops. Deadly as the brown shirts. Deserving of punishment to fit a capital crime.
What Hath Obama Wrought?
Okay, let’s give the man some credit, but not too much.
President Barack Hussein Obama is claiming his drawdown of America’s forces in Afghanistan enabled the capture and summary execution by Navy Seal Team Six of Osama bin Laden and he has announced the complete withdrawal of American troops from Iraq by year’s end.
The former is a stretch but plausible even if then-CIA Director Leon Panetta actually gave the order to get Osama while Obama went to bed. At least the president didn’t obstruct the operation.
The Iraq bug-out will constitute an accomplishment only if our departure doesn’t send a signal to neighboring Iran to fill the vacuum, a distinct possibility that terrifies many Iraqis and may make them long for the good, old days of Saddam Hussein and his sadistic sons.
When Obama concludes what he called the “necessary war” in Afghanistan and withdraws our troops from that sorry land, a comparable disaster could ensue.
Demonstrating his contempt for the nation that put him in power, Afghani President Hamid Karzai has already declared an alliance with another former U.S. friend, Pakistan, and when his government implodes under the weight of corruption, America will find itself back to square one in the region.
Yet another questionable plus in the Obama column is his non-interference with the drone that took out the terrorist Anwar al-Awlaki. Obama hasn’t boasted much about that action since al-Awlaki was an American citizen and killing him is widely interpreted as an unconstitutional abuse of power by our constitutional-scholar president.
None of those accomplishments-by-inaction will endear him to peaceniks in his Democrat Party nor to members of the committee that awarded Obama a Nobel Peace Prize but that’s a whole other story as is whether they will help him win re-election with the American economy mired in the doldrums.
After the plaudits for those questionable coups subside, the most immediate issue on Obama’s foreign policy table right now is, What has he wrought in the Mideast?
What comes to mind is the age-old aphorism that the devil you know sure beats the devil you don’t. America’s current president has rescued a number of devils at the same time he has sent some to Hell.
What hath Obama wrought?
In the Libyan non-war, the euphemestic “kinetic military action” Obama swore would last days not weeks and went on for seven months, our Tomahawk missiles and drones softened up the defenses of Col. Khadafi’s loyalists and put him on the run until rebel forces trapped him in a sewer drain and executed him.
Libya thus rid itself and the world of the mad dog, a man who had called Obama ”our son” and whose friendship was reciprocated by our president before he turned on his “dad.” In turn, Rev. Louis Farrakhan, who used to address Obama as “brother,” then asked his bro, “Who the hell do you think you are?”
More pertinent questions now would be, What have you done, who and what are taking Khadafi’s place, and what now? . . .

Rubin,
You’re a muddle-headed moderate goof. Yeah, Obama is arrogant and narrow minded. He is certainly not capable of master-minding any agenda beyond arranging the day’s tee-time. But, your as clueless as he is if you believe there is no directed effort to subvert the Constitution of the United States by his administration. His administration intends to subjugate the United States of America to the likes of the United Nations. Maybe something like the United Islamic Nations. Count yourself with the rest of the clowns in the Republican mainstream looking for scraps at the master’s table.
One of the hardest things is to recognize and name evil. We excuse it. We rename it. What we have a hard time doing is confronting it. We become victims
of Mao,Stalin,Hitler,Mussolini,Pol Pot, Saddam Hussein the list is endless.
Good Sir Rubin, I respect you for your work, but you are simply wrong on this.
This is beyond incompetence. This is treason.
Oh, I don’t doubt there’s incompetence aplenty. After all, these are children masquerading as adults.
But the bottom line is treason, with malice aforethought. It is the Marxist agenda being enacted with full knowledge of its intended consequences.
Obama is the Anti-Christ…his minions are around him
