There is a small detail at the end of Obama’s big Middle East speech that everyone has overlooked up until now but which shows how inept this administration is at understanding the IsraelI-Palestinian issue and why it continually makes Israel mistrustful.
In doing his balancing act on Israeli and Palestinian fears and hostility, he says this:
“I’m convinced that the majority of Israelis and Palestinians would rather look to the future than be trapped in the past….We see it in the actions of a Palestinian who lost three daughters to Israeli shells in Gaza. `I have the right to feel angry,’ he said. `So many people were expecting me to hate. My answer to them is I shall not hate. Let us hope,’ he said, `for tomorrow.’”

That’s genuinely touching. But in the specific case Obama cites — that of Izzedin Abuelaish on January 16, 2009 — there is strong reason to believe that the three girls were killed because of Hamas, that is Palestinian, actions.
According to an official Israeli inquiry, Hamas snipers on the roof of their five-story building were shooting at Israeli soldiers. The tank returned fire. In addition, though, the investigation could not rule out the possibility that the girls were killed by an explosion of explosives and ammunition being stored in the building by Hamas or even by fire from Hamas forces.
In other words, the president took an incident where the cause was unclear and blamed Israel for it. And of course the tragic deaths of these girls took place because the United States did nothing to help prevent Hamas from taking over the Gaza Strip and then Hamas broke a ceasefire and attacked Israel.
Since then, the Obama Administration has pressured Israel to reduce sanctions on Hamas to an absolute minimum and provided $400 million to pay salaries in the Gaza Strip, which benefits Hamas’s rule.
In addition, since the Palestinian Authority has just announced it will pay money to those who are prisoners of Israel, U.S. taxpayer money will now go to reward those who have committed terrorist attacks.
This is what you get from a juvenile that is emulated to fame without merit, and put in a position where he needs adult judgement and responsibility.
What a blatant pathetic representative of America and our values.

I disagree. The comparison to National Socialsm is very correct. Look at the policies of the democrat party. Look who is their main financial backer ( George Soros ). To be sure, I believe the democratic party is conflicted within it’s membership. Some are communist. Some are National Socialists. The communists seem to recoqnize their identity, while the nazis seem to not understand that they have chosen a belief system that mirrors the nazis.
It goes beyond economics as well. Examine the relationship to the media. The truth is not the message. The message is whatever it takes for them to implement their will on the country.

Extremely good post Bogeyman. I have often wondered why American Jews give so much support, especially monetary support, to the lefties given the left’s disdain for Israel. I never thought of it in the terms that you laid out in your post.
Still, it is somewhat maddening to hear Israeli’s go on about how the US is “selling them out” or “ambushing us” (both valid claims) when so many American Jews work so hard to continue to elect politicians that have such a dislike for Israel.
I guess your theory will be put to the test in the next election cycle. If US Jews continue to support Obama, in the same numbers they did in 2008, given his current position on Palestine, they will prove beyond a shadow of doubt (at least to me) that they are progressives first and foremost.

I never understood why Israel has to give anything back to anybody. Israel is one of the few countries in history that has constantly won wars directed against it but is expected to give land back after those wars are over. Think about it. If that’s the case, why don’t we give Texas and most of our southwest back to Mexico? Lets not even talk about how many times the borders of Poland have changed over the centuries and Russia would certainly have a claim against most of the former Soviet republics that are out there today. Yet Israel is always attacked by people who literally want to wipe it off the map and it is Israel that is always expected to give something up. Well, what are the arabs willing to give up?
You see, no country has a legal right to exist. A country sets its borders and it can either defend them or it can’t. If it can’t, then the territory gets carved up by other countries. That’s the way it has been for thousands of years. And that is why we have the current problems in the middle east today. The Ottoman empire collapsed after World War I and several Middle eastern countries were simply created out of thin air by the winning European powers. Were these logical boundaries based on the tirbal and ethnic races that lived in those countries? Not at all. The French and the British just took a pencil and divided up the Middle East. So it’s now up to this generation to decide where those true boundaries are. So if you stake a claim and want a piece of land, you’d better be able to defend it. If you can, then it’s yours. If you can’t, then that’s too bad. So long as Israel can defend her current borders, it shouldn’t be forced to give anything back to anybody. And if the Palestinians still want a home, there’s always Jordan, where most of them live to this day.
Jordan was supposed to be their home ..but it would not have been enough for them then either.

I am a big supporter of Israel. But why is it wrong to give the Palestinians some of their land back? The “real Jews” are semitic people. A lot of the Jews in Israel are Ashkinazi. Would you be O.K with the military bombing your apartment building, because there is a criminal inside, shooting police through a window?
Hamas vs the IDF, is like a local gang vs NY State Police. It is possible that the Palestinians won’t be satisfied, even if Israel goes back to the 1967 borders. But it is worth the effort. I have grown up watching movies depicting Arabs as terrorists, and never trusted them. But who wouldn’t fight tooth and nail for their land? Even Gen. If the West Bank and The Gaza Strip became a Palestinian State west of the Jordan River would that State then place a claim on the territory east of the Jordan River as part of their Palestinian State? Wasn’t that territory originally to have been the Arab portion of the Palestinian Mandate.
Could the reason that the ‘occupiers’ of that Territory who controlled the West Bank between 1948 and 1967 never established a Palestinian State on the West Bank have been their concern that such a State might have meant the end of their Sovereign nation and their being pushed into the desert by those who today want to push the Israelis into the Mediterranean?

I can not judge my President’s heart, but I can say that his actions in resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, have been worthless, or worse. The recent proof is not his words, but the actions, almost wholly unreported, of his chief negotiator, George Michell. He quit, right as his boss hosted key foreign leaders in the White House, and boiled the feelings of all, about the 1967 war. His silence screams.
That arid dirt, claimed by three religions as their holy land, but cursed by endless war and savagery, is no closer to peace, than when the UN created it after the ashes of World War II.
There is more than enough land, money, and learned people of talent, and industry to make it a home and garden for all of its inhabitants. What it lacks, are a set of leaders, who want peace more than blood. What it has is a set of international leaders who profit from its agony; who pour fuel on every cooling ember of tension. The result is a demonic hell.
What is new is the Arab spring, hot revolt against dictators, from the Atlantic Ocean to Indian. What is old is the constant diversion by these killers, from epic problems of poverty and ignorance to the ancient hatred of Jews. What is coming is the possession of nuclear weapons by these dictators.
The time for constant lying is over.
Unfortunately you start from what I see as a fundamentally incorrect premise: That the Obama administration’s use of “facts” represents a mistake. It is such an obvious mistake that I don’t think it can be explained as not getting the facts straight. I think they have the facts straight, they just choose to deliberately misrepresent them.

Israel Reconfigured and Reconsidered
“Obama Is No Friend of Israel” blared the headline on SayAnything.com with variations on other blogs and in the print media in the wake of the president’s announcement that he was effectively screwing the Jewish nation. His “final solution” for Israel’s border wars, though he dare not use that term, would make everyone in the area happy and peaceful and ready to play together in perpetual peace and harmony.
Confirmed and reinforced in his tense Friday sit-down with Israel’s furious, diplomatically-assertive Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Obama’s scheme is to have Israel return to its pre-6 Day War, 1967 borders, tantamount in this age of sophisticated rocketry in the bloody hands of Hamas to asking Israel to commit national suicide.
That said, two questions: One, why is it such a surprise to so many that Israel is not at the top of Obama’s buddy list and, two, why should he be? The answers to both queries are complex with the first less so than the second.
It’s either incredibly naive or amazingly stupid to be surprised that the president cares not a whit about the nation of Israel. Whether he would prefer it to be totally submerged in the Mediterranean as Arab states wish is debatable but his affinity for those states and all things and people Islamic is not. An excellent rule of thumb to gauge Obama is to note carefully what he says and then to compare and contrast those statements with what he does, has done, and refuses to do.
They’re remarkably different.
Obama tows the line with what he says, mouthing platitudes and the conventional pap about how much America loves Israel, how important an ally it is, how our support is unwavering, etc. etc. At the same time, he adamantly refuses to acknowledge a worldwide war against Islamic terrorism, he bows to Saudi potentates, he inexplicably instructs NASA to focus not on space but on building Arab self-esteem. Is pushing for a Palestinian state such a stretch? . . .

If you did and are an American then you should be worried because he just threw out America maintaining a foreign policy with America’s strategic interests and security at heart.

Obama is a petty little man with very little intellect and no sense of morality. In America, he supports the unions and the lawyers and the grievence groups, because he is a doctrinaire liberal and he knows where his reelection money is coming from. I have posted, talked to friends and family- since way before O”Bummer got elected to say these things would come to pass- no one listened- and sadly the actual damage O’Bummer has wrought, exceeded my predictions by 1000 percent.
President Obama is arrogant and ignorant, and, in his Reverend Jeremiah Wright anti-semitism, wants to destroy Israel. Why should Israel return to the borders of pre-1967? In the six-day war in 1967, it was Israel that was attacked by its Arab (mohammedan) enemies. And “Palestinians”? The only Palestinians are the Jews; the Roman Emperor Hadrian changed the name of Judea to Palestina after he defeated the last Jewish rebellion under Bar Kochba in 135 A.D. Since that time, until 1964, “Palestine” meant “the land of the Jews” or “the Holy Land” and “Palestinian” meant “Jew.” That is why the British after World War I were awarded the “Palestine Mandate” to be the “homeland of the Jews.”
In 1964, Gamal Nasser and the Soviet Union. Jew haters both of them, in Cairo invented the “Palestine Liberation Organization,” with all the phony history and propaganda that Arabs are “Palestinians”. A “Palestinian” state is just another Arab state – and President Obama did not even deign to notice that the PA and Hamas just made an agreement with each other to be allies.
How Jewish American’s were fooled by this man and in turn voted for him is beyond me. Even after this weeks speech many back his liberal policies which threaten the homeland of Israel and their very existence.

If it took you and the other people this long to figure out, how inept Obama and his administration is and has been from his campaigned for the presidency. I do not know if yous are blind or not the sharpest tool in the shed. When my 15 year old grand daughter says obama talks a lot and says nothing, you have to wonder about the people who voted for obama. The press all but had obama elected, the media never talked about his past, who he hung around with and what he believed in. Obama still tries to keep his past a secret from the American people. Why? If you listen to ANY of obama`s speeches he talks a lot but says nothing.If the American people vote to keep obama in office then America is just another fallen empire in the pages of history. Because this time he can release the brown shirts on the American public and really show who he is!
The fingerprints of the US are all over the uprisings in the Middle East. This is US foreign policy dementia. Future historians will view it as a historical turning point, bigger than 9/11. The dominoes are now falling toward catastrophe for the West which is blind, delusional, and self destructive.
I have a question or 6 or so. Would you mine terribly, providing some evidence of those fingerprints? As I recall and it wasn’t long past that Obama was flip – flopping over the goings on in Egypt. This would indicate that someone other than the current administration was leaving those fingerprints. If so who would that be? And, to what end? That is what were they hoping for? If you were intimating that the Administration is behing the Arab Spring, why were they so surprised? If you were thinking that the CIA was trying to be cute, you give them entirely toooo much credit. If things happen as you seem to portent, why would Muslims be writing histories of the U.S.A.?
Jewish “progressive politics” is simply European politics brought to the USA. Masking as concern for society it simply tries to recreate a European society that is hierarchical and enjoyed by those who accept abuse if they feel there is a group below them. Sadly enough a lot of Jews enjoy that. You can’t ask them to open their eyes if their eyes are open and fixed on taking garbage and spitting that garbage back at others.
Clearly Obama (and, at one remove, Ms. Clinton) is in a job that’s above his pay grade.

In reviewing what the western nations, even India and China,have accomplished in creating science and culture, laws and integrity, the decision to act is like the French King Charlemagne did when runners sholuted “The Arabs are coming{. Upon hearing the arabs were on the march to capture his capital and himself he order the army to drive them back into Spain and kill any who tried to subvert his orders. So the Arabs hung around Spain for years building castles to prove they had taken over the land and kingdoms. And, slowly they began to return to North Africa as Spanish soldiers tired of the Arab culture and Sharia laws and drove them out of Spain. It is time we stand and deliver, remove the nazi interlopers and drive them into the sea or onto the boats for them to run like cowards and thieves that they are back to the desert cities. Your bottom line is that Obama picked a poor example of a situation where Israelis were at fault for the death of a father’s children, but the father was willing to forgive the Israelis. I agree, the example cited – or, at least, the way it was cited – is unfair to Israel.
However, I take a degree of exception to your saying fault is “unclear”; I think the phrase “appears mixed” might be a little better. Why so? Well, perhaps I’m being overly sensitive, but your use of the word “unclear” implies a distinct possibility that israel might be totally blameless, while your paragraph starting “in other words” seems to say that the US can in no way escape some blame for the daughters’ deaths. I find that hard to swallow. While I’m on the point, let me also note that you rather gratuitously state that “the US did nothing to prevent Hamas from taking over the Gaza Strip”, a statement that implies there were effective remedies at the US’s disposal, which it failed to use; I’m unconvinced that’s a fair description of the case.
I don’t think we give Obama enough credit. He has an agenda that he has followed and promoted since his indoctrination as a child into the Musslim ideology. He may be a Christian in name,but in thought and action he is a true radical Musslim. Who better has served the cause than Barrack. Weaken the economy, restrict our military from fighting a proper war through his rules of engagement, work towards the destruction of Israel, and as history has shown us many times over the use of lies and deceit to accompolish these goals is an exceptable ploy for radical Musslims, based on their Koran, as long as the goal of destroying the infidels (non Musslims) is the objective.
The first thing our next POTUS should do is to apologize to the US population and the world at large for the disgraceful, harmful, naive and yet narcissistic arrogance of BHO and the policies he attempted to foist upon the USA through corrupt and intimidating Chicago style politics.
